Isaac Dunayevsky's overtures were very inspiring. As a kid I loved to read Soviet versions of "Captain Grant's Children", and "In search of Captain Grant" (known in English as In Search of Castaways.) That's how I learned that Patagonia was a region of South America, while living in Central Asia.
Can you make it available on UA-cam Music? I wanted to listen to it on UA-cam Music app but it isn't available. I think you can change the setting or something..
How would this have been related to the film? It sounds like a concert overture in a cinematic style, rather than something that would accompany a movie. Would this have been a silent film?
Inserts and themes from overture is used trough movie. TV series in eighties - sort of remake of movie - used it for intro music and end credits, and theme inserts troughought scenes.
Here comes the original work (1907) that "influenced" Dunayevsky (no wonder that its author was a persona non grata in the Soviet music literature): ua-cam.com/video/Q-mg1UUpJ-o/v-deo.html
This really is a great composition! I only just learned about Isaak Dunayevsky recently. He should be much better known!
Best melodist of 20 century
Isaak Dunayevsky is well known in his motherland (Soviet Union, Pussia)! Since 1930-s till now millions of people can't help admiring his melodies.
