The dresser is gorgeous! I like it better than the overpriced dresser. I have a sugar addiction as well, and I’m about your age. I have tried everything, including medication to stop. Your talk inspires and scares me. Did you stop sugar and start the diet? Or did you continue while on the diet and the cravings lessened? I am over weight by 40 lbs and my brain fog is so bad I was tested for Alzheimer’s. I need help.

I had tried to cut back on sugar first and keep my bread intake low, did this on my own for about 6 months, it didnt help much but I think it did make the transition to keto less intense. switching to Keto can be a huge change depending on how much sugar you are eating now and what you blood sugar levels are. I carried oranges and tangerines with me the first few weeks like a security blanket because sometimes it was just too much too fast. After the first 2 weeks it was not so dramatic and after 4-6 I saw very significant improvements ( some improvements were immediate like hunger level) the longer you go the easier it gets. With all other things I've tried, the longer I went the harder it got. I would try watching some of the youtube channels here they are packed with great info. search Dr Berg, Keto Connect, Dr Ken Berry and Suzanne Ryan. There are many more and endless success stories. Just read some of the comments here and you will be encouraged too. Keto helps with brain fog, there are studies that say Alzheimers is the diabetes of the brain and directly linked to sugar and carbs. I hope you consider it Jennifer, there is hope! Also some people transition much easier than I did, my sister had no issues but she never was a sugar addict, she is 2 years younger than me and was diagnosed with Cancer right after my mom died, they removed the cancer but polloups kept coming back, after doing Keto she has no more polyps and is cancer free now a year.

Jennifer, there is a herb called gymnema sylvestre that is supposed to help with sugar cravings. I believe you can make a tea and drink it. Good luck on your journey.

Try taking diatomaceous earth to get rig of the overgrowth of candida in the bowel. Fungus is very intelligent and will do anything to survive, it is very attracted to sugar which is an instant food. About 4 years ago I ended up with a fungal infection on my neck, the doctor gave me anti fungal creams which I used for 6 months....nothing worked. Then I discovered diatomaceous earth, I mixed it with water and knocked it back, within a week the infection was nearly gone. I then mixed it with orange juice and 2 days later it was gone completely. About a month ago I decided to use it again because I was having really bad sugar cravings and was putting weight on again, so I decided to do a detox cleanse, the next day I developed what I thought was an insect bite....it wasn't. Once again it was the fungal infection come back but this time above the right ribs where the gallbladder is. I kept taking the DE and again added orange juice...and it cleared up. I believe it was trying to escape the DE so came out in the skin. There was a study conducted by Atsushi Tero of Hokkaido University on a type of fungus which is a slime mould. The study used a maze based on the Tokyo subway system. The mould had to find the food by negotiating through the maze, it took several attempt until it found the optimal path. The amazing thing is that the slime mould redesigned the subway system so it could get to the food in the quickest way, this was published in Science in early 2010. Now if fungi can do this outside the body and on the earth...what can they do inside the body? Their purpose it to survive no matter the cost to the subject and I believe an overgrowth inside the body are probably also a contributing factor in many cancers.I am leaving a link for you to see about DE ua-cam.com/video/YDrVYBAt5HI/v-deo.html

I'm 55 and am going on Ketovore with mostly meat, eggs, healthy fats, a few veggies ( mostly Brussels Sprouts, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Asparagus, Spaghetti Squash, cabbage, sauerkraut, green beans..... occasionally) and (berries, and pink grapefruit, on occasion. With whip topping.) Bacon and chicken and red meat, and Fish/Salmon, ect......with two meals, extended fast from dinner to lunch....no breakfast. Mostly Water, some plain Tea and Black Coffee. (At least for awhile. Still need that Caffeine. 🤷😊 And lemon and lime, and ACV. ) Basically trying to eliminate Carbs- bread, pasta, potatoes, junk food, fast food, sweets, my "crack Coffee" (caramel Macchiato Starbucks coffee)
I only get those a few times a week. Maybe 4-6 per month. Need to cut that out Completely! I have issues from head to toe, inside out it seems..... arthritis and brain fog and energy plus itching and dry skin/ lips, sinus issues, eye problems, mood issues, ect.....lol I hear from so many people on UA-cam about how they feel and how much weight they lost.....but being healthy is most important! All the other things that will most likely happen are a bonus side effect! 😊👍

It looks fantastic and does closely resemble the anthropologie dresser. Enjoyed the tutorial on the design process for this piece. Keto on! My husband & I started Keto at the beginning of the year. He was no longer insurable because of his weight and I was a year into menopause and had gained 40 lbs in that one year with doctors telling me that was normal and to get used to the extra weight. It has not been an easy transition but now, 4 months in we are finding our rythm and enjoying weight loss, less brain fog, more energy, it's been a great way of life for us so far.

Debi, I think that you can talk about your diet. You said that you wanted to change your diet due to your brain fog, and depression. I don't think that you ever mentioned that you wanted to tell anyone to change their ways due to weight. You simply went with what you firmly believe and your own experience. I am beginning to fully believe, and not just because of your video, in regards to depression, which I have, and sugar, that so much of this is so true. I don't know which diet is true, but I will see who to cut it out for myself, as I truly need to do something. Thank you for being an inspiration for many who suffer from depression and brain fog. That is what I took from your video and other videos. You do for you, and we should try to do for ourselves. In regards to your dresser, it's absolutely amazing and beautiful. Great Job.
I want to get over my slump and get some of my DIY's, crafts, and garden back to being a thing I once enjoyed. God Bless Debi.

Beautiful you = beautiful dresser! 😍💗 I'm in love!✨ I've been off of any processed sugars for years now- it started from no sugar, to just agave and honey, and now I only use stevia and sparingly monkfruit if I need something sweet. To be honest, sometimes I binge on dried mangoes and figs- but only when I'm really stressed out/anxious and having a crazy sweet attack. 🤫 I don't feel bad about it though. Haha! But I'm such a fan of everything Debi's Design Diary- really love what you're doing- thank you so much for creating diy paint and for sharing your beautiful creations with the world. Also, I really enjoyed the little storytimes of your personal life inbetween the instructions! You're so cute! I live in Encinitas so I'll have to stop by your shop one day! 💕

Beautiful dresser! Good for you cutting suger. I did that 11 years ago (have fallen off the wagon so to speak) not only felt so much better, but got into the best shape of my life. I am glad the keto has worked for you. This is motivating me to want to go back on a sugar free diet. Congrats on staying off of sugar for over a year! And again beautiful dresser loved your tutorial.

Deb loved how the dresser turned out. I wish I had found your site many years before when I was learning paint techniques.
I started keto this past January and the weight came off without feeling like I was "dieting". Last year I gained weight on weight watchers. I agree that we each need to listen to our bodies and do what works for us.

I don't know what I love more, the crafts or your stories. The dresser is fabulous and your journey is wonderful. I am 59 and am sitting here eating candy, I need to stop, I want to be healthy. I have heard great things about Keto and if you shop right, you can replace things you love. I love chips so much and my husband found salt & vinegar pork rinds and they were so good! Next is to find low carb sweets! Thank you for a uplifting video. Have a great day, Mary

Hi Mary. You don't even have to start the diet specifically. I tested the fats first to see how i felt. They made me feel full faster than when I ate sugary things.
My go-to fats are coconut oil (in my tea, and a spoonful with my lunch salads), ghee in my tea as well and in my soups, coconut manna to thicken my soups, some heavy cream for flavor in my protein drinks using almond milk, olive oil on my raw vegetables and my scrambled eggs, coconut oil for stir-frying, cream cheese slices instead of other cheese snacks. Almost immediatley I stopped looking for sugary snacks.
Be sure to eat breakfast and sprinkle kosher salt or sea salt on your meals (and as much dried herbs as you like) because each day, you you use up your body's salt storage very quickly! And drink water while you eat the chips. Your tissues are thirsty!
My keto diet choices: Healthy fats, nuts, veg, fish, no meat (personal preference), no wheat, no processed sugars. Also, no simple sugars (junk foods, processed foods, flours, noodles, breads, pastries and ice creams).
      You can do it Mary!
(Be sure to talk with your nutritionist or doctor about your planned dietary changes). :o)

I finally discovered the Keto diet and it changed my life. I have lost 50 lbs in the last 6 years or so. I am now the size I want to be and I am so much healthier and don't crave food all day long. I am now 48 and hoping we experience our best years in the next 20 years.

I'd like you ask you to PLEASE,please begin listing the song titles you choose for each of your amazing videos. I love the music just as much as your work! Also, I am a breast cancer patient, still in treatment but surviving thus far, Thank God, so I thank you for discussing the importance of diet in cancer prophylaxis. I'm ret from 31 yrs of Nursing; all you say about food/sugar has been proven many times over in clinical settings. Thank You, Debi for the remarkable gifts you give us all. xoxoxoxox Please don't ever change~ :)

I'll be honest I clicked on this to look at a dresser and how it was made. ( I didn't look at the original, but this turned out great!) It is amazing that you talked about the Keto diet. My husband got out of the hospital, (1week ago) due to diabetes. I found on youtube info about Keto & how it will help those with diabetes. I must research more. Thanks so much for putting this into your video. If you see & hear something often enough, it is a message to do something!!! If you told me you were 40 I would have believed you. Great info, Great dresser!!!! God Bless.

love your video on this restoration improvement, great job and tutorial on your beautiful piece of furniture, I love all your videos.I am going on 2 months on keto and finding it so easy to stick to, I dont miss the sugar or high carbs. I always wondered why I was tired and sickly all the time til I started eating keto and now my energy level has improved dramatically and I am losing weight quicker than any other diet plan I've been on because I am not feeling deprived of foods I used to crave all the time, my main motivator was being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Thanks for your talk on health as it is so important to discuss.

What a great video ! I too was a total sugar freak ...loved it . I grew up on a healthy diet but used to love spending all my pocket money every Friday after school on sweets / chocolate and crisps ...I never really stopped and throughout my adult life and suffered from sugar crashes . Last year I was diagnosed with Graves Disease and since then I've become sugar free and low carb ...I feel better , or at least I'm improving now . Fingers crossed that I'll be able to keep my levels balanced ! Thanks for the anthropology content ! 🙏

Hi Debi, you have yourself a new subscriber, from Australia! First, I love your work. It is stunning. Second, thank you for your story. I have a few health problems and have wanted to go on the keto diet for a while now as I have terrible brain fog and I KNOW sugar makes me feel sick. The number of people who are trying to stop me due to 'cancer concerns' is overwhelming. I'm 56 and when you said you are early 50's I nearly fell over backwards. I look old enough to be your mother. I hate the way I look, but mostly the way I feel. I feel 70. You have inspired me. Looking forward to your next video.

This was a super cool vid! I should like to try this on a dresser of mine. I was wondering wtheck the story was about with the dresser, then I realized I subscribed to your channel on the green couch vid & I remembered your style! I just had a breast cancer scare, they were looking at 8 different spots. It has been a few days since I found out I do not have cancer. Thank God! Now I see this vid, and I want to say thanks! It helped me realize something about art, creativity, healing, and our history. So thank you for that 💗👍💗👍💗👍💗☕
