You had me crying and (sorry) laughing. I'm grateful for your retelling. I know it will help someone out there going through similar situations. But how you just take charge and dont let the tour guide steal your vacation is strength with in. I live to see strength with in come out!❤

The dresser is beautiful - though the white one you sold was my favorite!! That was the trip from hell. I'm glad Zeb was there because he seems like nothing ruffles him. I've not been lucky enough to go on many vacations but many years ago (20+) my late husband's work sent him to Atlanta for training and paid for me to go too. We live in California and our flight to SF got delayed because of rain and were rerouted to LAX which caused us to miss our connection to Atlanta. So by the time we got there it was midnight and everything was closed. The car rental shops were closed and our luggage was lost or delayed. Luckily, his boss was already there and he had to come and pick us up. We get to the hotel and they had given our room away!! So they took us to another hotel across the way for one night and then we were going to go back to the original hotel the next day. That is I was supposed to do all of it. I don't think we went to bed until 3 or 4 am. Hubs had to be at class early. So he went and got a rental car and dropped it off for me. I think I went back to sleep. When I got up I was so disoriented. I called to the front desk to pick up our luggage. When I opened the door for him I realized we were on the first floor - that's how out of it I was!! Once checked out I had to find the car. I didn't know the make or anything about the car - I'm sure he told me but - I think I was jet lagged our something. Anyway - I finally found it and made my way over to the first hotel and got us all settled in. This was before we had cell phones. I managed to do some sight-seeing by myself while he was in training and managed to make it back to the hotel without GPS!! The rest of the trip was fun but getting there was a doozy!!

UGH....Deb I love love love your talent & creative ideas but watching these videos with all the things that went wrong really puts a damper on my enjoyment of your delightful imagination. Unexpected surprises (good or bad) is all part of the travel adventure, you just have to go with it and make the best of a crappy situation. As a watcher of your videos, I'd appreciate less of the "woe is me" aspect & more of what went great, what gave you inspiration. There are always kinks in even the best laid plans but I can sit & reflect on my own life for that, I come to your channel to be uplifted & inspired. Please consider lifting up your viewers instead of bringing us down. With love.

I had watched Diane from the Paint Factory's video, about this same topic. ( trip to France with same tour guide, that went horribly wrong). As i was listening to your story, i realized that this is the SAME person that Diane had referred to. The arrogance of this woman, the pure unadulterated arrogance, is shocking. Completely irresponsible on her part. Did she not see the "once in a lifetime" opportunity that was laid at her feet? She was gifted with a group of You Tube influencers with over 100,000 subscribers each. She could had pulled out all the stops and created a truly epic experience. She could have survived for years off of the revenue, from subsequent tours, made on you and your traveling companions recommendations. Remember the fairy tale about the goose that laid the golden eggs? this woman, killed her golden goose. Glad you are back stateside. I am so happy that no one got hurt or injured as a result of this woman's negligence.

I watched this and it was so bittersweet. It's hard to convey in words the character of this 'tour guide' - I'll leave it to the legal system to handle her. The sad part is that, we too, only had one day to see France (and that was only because it was the day AFTER the tour ended). Thank you, Debi for posting this and putting a spotlight on scam businesses.

Now THIS is the type of videos I know and miss. I’m racking my brain over the tour guides motive for treating people this way. It obviously wasn’t working for her. Debi, I loooove the dresser! You’ve done it again. Creative genius just flows from your fingers. You my dear are so strong for standing up for yourself, sister and friends to that woman. I know you felt responsible for all that mess. Please know it wasn’t your fault. You were duped. My husband and I took a cruise to Cuba and had a very bad experience with a handsome cab driver. Needless to say he charged us much more than he quoted at the end of the ride. Confusion anger and a that feeling of being had was evident. I did not want to get back off the ship the next day. But my husband did so we strolled and shopped instead. Lesson learned the hard way. Thank God you had Zeb along!! I am like Jami I too only cry once a year. I feel that situation you all were in warranted it. Poor things. You all made the best of it and the memories of a lifetime. That’s the stuff you remember more than if it had went as planned. I'm so sorry your trip was such a disaster; But i almost fell out of my chair i was laughing so hard when you told the escalator story. that is exactly the type of chain of events i get into. I have a cousin who lives is France in an 1800's home and speaks fluent French. It's a shame there was not more communication, she has a very successful tour business. If you should decide to have another go at it or have friends who are considering a trip she would definitely be great to talk to. Now to your art- I am in love with this piece! I am just beginning to paint an will dive head first into moulds on the third piece. I already have 5 large pieces of furniture, 2 small tables and the plant stand that holds my bird cage. I absolutely love your ability to tell a story. I think your group of travellers should run a Go-Fund-Me campaign so that you can all go back to France and re-do the trip your own way... (I love your choice of music by the way)

I loved the story. We did have a vacation in Sedona at an airb&b that was not fun. The home looked great in the outside photos on line, like a big 3 story home, but in reality the outside was all false and inside was a 2 story small A frame cabin. Most of the time is was cold and the thermostat did nothing because the heat was not connected to our unit, but to a bottom floor storage which was not part of our rental. There were no extra blankets in our rooms and I had to sleep in my sweatshirt with the hood up. I had brought a small down throw with me and I also used the throw off the sofa. The last few days of our vac it was hot and there were only window AC in the upstairs bedrooms and no AC at all in the downstairs. I ended up getting very sick for a month after this trip. This sound like nothing compared to your trip. We use to go to Sedona every year, but this kind of ended it for us. I didn't leave a negative review of this place, I left no review at all.

I understand why Jami cried. I would have too. BUT the "Guide" didn't break the DIY Dream Team! This story will carry. Your message will get out and she will be stopped. Now Debi, how did someone so shy get to the point she can dance her hot bod all over utube? lol Love the dancing. Took my sad to happy. TY

I am heartbroken to hear about these stories. I wish there was something to done to hold "Felicia" responsible for her actions. Guided tours are meant to help and ... well GUIDE.
Im so glad you had some beautiful moments inspite of the horror.
I hope one day you will try France again, 'cause those home markets sound amazing!
Thanks for being you Debi. X

I've been watching this video over and over and getting angrier and angrier. I know all the parts you shared about the trip from hell (nothing against the place, this is personal, about one crook who not only made your trip just about the worst experience possible, but also endangered life of 10 artists, parents, siblings...real people). Then I asked myself: "Sam, what's it to you, why should you care? You don't know Debi or any of the people involved, and you never will get to know them personally. Why are you emotionally invested in this story?" Because all of you share FREE tips, advice, tutorials etc. very helpful to less experienced painters. More importantly, there were times when I was so down that I couldn't do anything but play my FB game on 1 tab and listen to your videos on the other tab over and over again. I didn't have to watch them because I remember every brush stroke and almost every word of every story, but at the time these videos were the only thing soothing and uplifting I could handle. Your work and your stories MATTER! I understand and appreciate the fact that you are a spiritual person who would rather focus on gratitude than dwell over the fact that you have been taken very badly. I would fight back and sue - yes, there are legalities to consider - for HER! IOD moulds are wonderful and your work as exquisite as ever. Wishing you the best!
