This is the first sewing project I ever made, like 7 years ago, I still have mine and my girlfriend asked if I could sew one for her. They both look sooo cute X'D I remember I sewed mine alone in my room after "borrowing" my mother's "brother" sewing machine and her iron. I pushed everything off my dresser and started to cut, iron and sew... the satisfaction of finishing your first DIY project can be matched by nothing else, I swear. *w*
I have used this tutorial several times to make gifts for kids in our family, and they always turn out so cute. I am using it again, so thanks again for sharing!
I finally made one of these tonight and it was easier then I thought it would be. Thanks for sharing the how to video. It is was the main reason I subscribed to Threadbangers :)
The thing i love about Rob and Corinne is that they made the videos humorous, in-depth, and made the videos seem more like a blog than i tutorial. I didn't catch the other girl's name, the one who made the pikachu beanie, but she was an amazing replacement to the show. It's just that she was really adhered to the tutorial and it felt like i wasn't invited in... i wish neither group left.
what a cute idea =) i've been watching threadbanger just for the past 5 hours that i've been making christmas gifts and i've fallen in love. thank you =)
I just received one of John Murphy's books. I can't wait till the grandkids come up to visit, they can make their own stupid creature. I also bought 200 brown eyes from ebay. I have not found anything different yet for a cheaper price but I've always got buttons. I am so glad I found this video. Threadbanger....bring more how to make other creatures - maybe something with different mouths.
Pillow shirt! My friend took one of her boyfriends shirts and sewed the openings and stuffed it and she calls it her little piece of him :) it's so cute and I think it's a great idea!
I met this guy! He visited the art center in my town and he held this work where you could make a stupid creature! I made one with him! He's super nice!
ONE COMPLAINT!! Never, never snip straight through fabric- use a pin, pen, awl, knitting needle ect. to widen a hole big enough. Snipping a hole will almost always come lose after the thing is well-loved- a widened hole with threads intact will last much, much longer. ~Kat
Do not use the buckwheat oats in a child's toy. Children get sick a lot before age five, vomit all over the place. If this ends up being their comfort toy it's going to need washed- a lot. A good alternative is to use the washable plastic poly pellets. They won't damage your washing machine. You can find them at Hobby Lobby or can order them in bulk if you have a child with sensory disorders such as autism. They're wonderful to use in a weight blanket also.
Oh and keep this rule in mind for anything else you buy that has food related products in it. Food items will always break down and deteriorate over time. So if you're buying a rice heating pad that you don't make yourself, in time you'll have to toss it out. Best to make your own and make it so that you can replace the rice in it now and then when it starts to smell.
michelle kindred Doesn't matter. No child wants to fall in love with a hand made toy only for it to rot and its mother be forced to toss it out. Food rots, period.
Yep, I'm hardcore and no fun because I don't like to see heart broken children. My main concern was to be no fun. There's no way possible my concern could be for the child receiving a toy like this. (Note the sarcasm.)
omg, I have seen this video a lot of times, im making a couple of this for my nephews and nieces... wish me luck!!! thanks for this awesome video thread banger and murphys stupid creatures...
you can pretty much stuff ut with w/e... as long as it turns out nice and fluffy...like a plushy n_n old pillows work well... I've also seen old scraps of cloth used...and well... get creative, as long as its soft and huggable, i pretty sure it will work out
"What we're left with is essentially your monster's *booty*" lol, seriously, this is my favourite tutorial yet! I see a lot of Stupid Creatures appearing in my friends' futures.
