Pigeon given brand new wings after horrific act of cruelty...

- Human cruelty is, sadly, something we see a lot of here at Wildlife Aid, but what happened to this poor pigeon was something beyond words...
Picked up by a group of children, they cut the feathers on both wings before repeatedly throwing him into the air to 'see if he could still fly'. With such extensive damage making flight impossible, there was only one option left - replace the feathers to get him back in the air.
Please stay tuned for his release next week!

Horrible parenting. I wish the parents would get the bill for all the work and resources that went into this. Plus a hefty fine for the cruelty. 😡
I agree. Police should be notified because children like that tend to grow up to be dangerous killers.
🥺This made me cry . Just hearing that children did that is sickening . Ty for rescuing that pigeon and for all the work done to give it back it’s chance to fly again . ❤
Same here 😥😢!
on the bright side, they likely learned a lot from this, and about themselves.
I'd keep an eye on those monsters. They'll likely harm humans in the future.
It is sickening that there are children out there who are cruel and callous from a young age onwards. I read that many sociopaths would torture animals as children. I hope these evil little monsters who did this to this poor pigeon don’t become like that.
I'm member of a local pigeon rescue, and in our city we heard about teenagers in a certain place luring pigeons with food and then kicking them. And recently, in a similar place an unknown person hit three pigeons in the head and arranged the bodies in a triangle in the city centre. Maybe that was done by teenagers too, but there are no leads at all, which is why the police stopped the investigation pretty quickly.
Depending on their age those kids probably need therapy and/or harsh punishment, that's absolutely awful.
Such a handsome bird, I'm glad you took the effort and time to help him out. Please remember to instill in your kids a respect for wildlife.
Not just wildlife, but all life.
Thank you for rescuing him from human cruelty.
It's so sad that humans can be so cruel......even children! 😢
I wonder....don't they learn from their parents to respect all life? 🤔
What is WRONG with those parents not teaching those children to be kind to animals!!!? I raised both of my sons to be kind to animals and they are even kind to insects! Its not rocket science!
My son even saves/comforts dying cockroaches. He will put them in a little butter tub, with tiny pieces of apple and water soaked sponge. So they can either recover or at least die in peace without being devoured by ants. No, our house is not cockroach infested. The cats sometimes bring one in from the outside. I love it how our children are so alike. Good souls have no distance between them. Compassion, empathy and respect for all life. Hugs from South Africa.
Just be glad that you have healthy children and weren't cursed with a child that has a malfunctioning brain that turns them into a psychopath. Cruelty to animals is one of the biggest red flag of a child having sociopathic/psychopathic tendencies. You can't teach empathy to someone who's brain does not have the capability to feel empathy.
@@phangirlable I know. That is one of my questions for my Creator. Why are these misshapen brains given life? And I don't want to hear any of the claptrap about 'the sins of the fathers blah-blab...' My heart goes out to the parents and the victims of these monsters. I saved a pigeon once, knowing it was dying. The then office manager would not allow me to keep the bird next to my desk where I could keep an eye on it till end of work day. She called it 'vermin'. Many religions teach that certain animals are 'vermin' and other religions condemn them, but those same condemnators then preach it is ok to cause horrendous suffering as they advocate eating other animals. It is all hocus-pocus crap. I've been vegan since age 9 and will say one thing for sure: organised religion is poison, as is fascism and all other 'isms'. The horror practised within these groups defies all morality. It is all based upon "Yip, harming others are ok". They find so-called holy books and/or some slogan to support the horror of their belief systems and practises. Spirituality cannot be bought or suppressed. It stands alone. May you find peace.
@@phangirlable Fairly true for violent psychopathy, but as someone who's technically a sociopath (as defined by Doktor Asperger before he sent folk like me to the gas chambers) you can absoloutely teach a non-empath to respect and love other creatures by self-reference. "Imagine if someone did that to you" works even on psychopaths to some extent, provided it's a real excersise, considered logically (e.g. humans don't have wings, so in this case you'd have to say "imagine if someone cut off your feet and made you try to walk"). Empaths are incredibly judgemental and willing to throw people in the bin rather than work out the logic break that makes someone not understand that, say, cats need their whiskers to feel, or spiders are also conscious beings, yet society holds up "empathy" like it engenders compassion. In my experience, it just makes people yell at you because you're supposed to know what mystery emotion things illogical social rules do.
Many people would never think to rescue something like a pigeon, so it's heartwarming to see people who care.
Well, I'm a member of a pigeon rescue, and there are lots of people that still think about calling us luckily. Amongst all the cruel ones. Unfortunately, all the "care stations" (idk how to translate; I mean the people who care for injured or sick pigeons in their homes) are overwhelmed, and they can't take any more pigeons. (I personally don't have pigeons in my home; I just help clean every two weeks, and I've sometimes transported pigeons to a care station, or help someone out with some small stuff.)
That's so cruel. Well done with the repair job.
If children are not taught respect for a being, no matter the order (animal or plant), do not expect them to be respectful to humans. Parents beware!!!! Thank you for rescueing and doing the procedure.
I hope these children had to face some charges over this. Many serial killers start by abusing animals.
That's an astoundingly cruel act inflicted upon that poor pigeon. Thank you so much for being there to give him a second chance, and also thanks to those who saw the act of cruelty and got the bird into your care.
I hope the children responsible are taught the consequences of their actions, so that they will never inflict such wanton cruelty again.
It's not about the consequences of their actions, so much as it is about the cause of the actions.
People that take their anger out on animals (or children, or people weaker than them) are in need of mental help.
I've shared the classroom with an unknown messed up child (never found out who) that killed a gerbil by drowning it in a bucket of water.
I was accused at the time (they asked the class who it could have been, they pointed at the bullied kid, that being me) and never got my name cleared, until one bully apologized and said it was wrong to accuse me without a good reason, but whoever it was, I am worried that (without help) this has led to some serious dark stuff in their life.
Because if they're able to kill a gerbil with no remorse and perhaps even enjoyment in it's suffering, who says they won't do similar things when their future wife breaks her ankle and can't run off?
Someone should attend to those children. Cruelty to animals is a symptom of a person who will extend that Cruelty to more and more targets and may eventually begin hurting small children or any helpless or impaired adult.
Im absolutely disgusted with the treatment of this innocent bird by some evil children. Well done Team on your valiant efforts to help him / her. U are amazing 🥲
I hope the children involved will bare the consequences of their act against an innocent bird! A job well done by all the staff, thank you so much!
I should feel sad, but instead I felt angry. Angry that people take their frustrations etc out on defenseless animals. Thank you for everything you do to help these animals!
That's not taking out frustration, that's pure sadism. I feel no mercy for that kind of people.
Who could hurt a puff ball like that? I know they are wild animals but stories like this make me want to adopt them! lol That work with the feathers is pure artistry, thanks for doing this!!
City pigeons aren't wild animals. They're strays, just like stray dogs. They're mostly descendants from domesticated pigeons that were abandoned. And you can totally adopt them. (Never get them from a breeder, though!) Look for your local pigeon rescue, animal rescue, or animal shelter. Maybe you can give a bonded couple of handicap pigeons a new life😊 (Don't just get one, unless there are _very_ good reasons for why the pigeon shouldn't have a partner. Not wanting to care for two birds is not a good reason.)
Pretty sure you can just pick the up off the street and it’s legal
@@mothtree7730 Don't. The bird might have a partner and a nest somewhere.
I hope those kids watch this video years later and realize the impact of what they did and the innocence of the poor, beautiful bird who was just going about his business.
Cruelty to animals is a massive red flag, especially in children - I hope that whoever participated in that cruelty is receiving access to counselling and any other services that will help them not escalate this behavior.
I will never understand the heart and mind of a cruel person. It's bad enough that people are verbally cruel but physically cruelty makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Thank all of you for what you do. Your an amazing group of caring and loving individuals. 💕💙♥️
It's a difference of degree, not in kind, verbal v physical cruelty.
If a child or adult is exposed to too much cruelty, the endocrine system can change how the person responds to cruelty, to protect the biological organism (lower the physiological stress response) and it can then trick the child / person into believing that cruelty brings joy. An adult who grew up normally can notice it and then steer and stop this; a child is helpless against such developments.
I love pigeons so much, I can't believe anyone would do such a horrible thing.
Why would anyone cut the wings of a bird, I am so glad you wonderful folk are on this planet to help the beautiful creatures great and small ❤
It chills me to think of the cruelty of humans, the fact that they were children just makes me sick. Thank you for the beautiful life saved. I can't wait to see his release.
Some kids can be just vile sadly. :(
Not just kids, adults too.
Thank you for saving this bird. How sad is it that children thought this was ok. The cruelty of any animal always gets to me.
Thank you so much for doing all that you do for wildlife in the UK. Absolutely disgusting what those kids did to this bird. I'm so glad he was rescued & given to your organization to get help. Looking forward to seeing his release video!
I feel sad for children who were not taught to love and care for wildlife and pray they come to see the error of their ways.
😢 omg that was bloody cruel what those kids did to this poor bird. But unbelievable what they did for this bird was bloody amazing, well done the wildlife staff, outstanding video thanks 💖😁
I weep for the poor pigeon. Thank you for saving him.
And also for the children … where on earth did they pick up an example of such cruelty and miss any development of empathy for another living being. That is truly utterly sad❗️😢
@@IndomitableT Unfortunately Human nature is the only evil the planet knows.
@@IndomitableT Unfortunately it only takes one psychopathic child and then you've got the human brain in group mode and the others will follow. Plus, children are naturally little narcissistic sociopath. It depends on their age though so if they were over the age of 10 or so the parents of the main psycho got some problems in the future..
@@IndomitableT Or, they're just horrible psychos. Nothing sad about them and they deserve no sympathy
This is the kind of saving acts that restore your faith in humanity...and doctors.
It's sad that people treat Pidgeons this way (Ofc all animals in general). Pidgeons were one of the main reasons we won the war, to have them treated like this is just horrible. Kids can be so cruel..
What evil to harm an innocent little bird. God Bless you all for the rescue and giving another chance to live. ❤❤❤❤
I remember scolding a bunch of kids for harassing a sickly hedgehog on my driveway and one of the mums (who was just watching this unfold) was all 'don't yell at my precious diddums, it's just a hedgehog!'. Pretty much tells you where a lot of children get their attitude towards wildlife from. Thank you for helping this poor bird, I'm glad he didn't sustain more permanent damage and was able to recover.
😲What a horrible parent!
What dreadful parents they must have bringing such compassionless individuals into the world. I love pigeons, they are sweet and gentle and worth a hundred of one of these evil people.
So glad you were able to help him.. I grew up with raising pigeons - without their flight feathers, they are ground bound. Thank you!
What an amazing thing to do!. I didn't even know it was possible to replace wing feathers. You guys are the polar opposite to the scumbags that cut the feathers off.
That's amazing guys, such a wonderful thing to see.
Sadly human cruelty is ever present.
Oh, you did it so brilliantly! What a relief to see that this poor pigeon, so horribly mutilated, has now got a perfectly new plumage! Hopefully the children who committed such a heartless act received a lesson. So that they understand their cruelty. How to teach children to appreciate, empathize and respect? It's very sad!
Id shave their hair off.
A HUGE thank you to the kind and courageous person/people who intervened to help this little beauty 🙏
It’s wonderful that these birds can essentially go to sleep ‘broken’ and wake up ‘fixed’, all thanks to this brilliant technique, so perfectly executed here by Meriem and Marco 💜xXx
WAF is amazing. The time, care, consideration, and love given to this bird, and all of the other animals rescued is absolutely beyond compare. This particular bird received new wing feathers but the feathers we don't see are the wings of these "angel" rescuers. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you do for the furry and feathered creatures. May God's blessings be with everyone at WAF.
What an incredible surgery - I'm glad he had such a good recovery!
I'm glad they were able to help the bird but I hope someone is keeping an eye on those kids because they might move on to bigger animals.
Was it reported to the police? It sounds like at least some of those kids need to be removed from their homes, and all of them need mandatory counseling among other things. Absoloutely horrifying. :( Shame on the adults who failed them! Poor baby, I'm so glad you were able to help it make a full recovery. I hope it manages to block out the experience from memory and lives a full and happy life from now on.
Wicked children who have no respect or empathy for something smaller and weaker than them will probably to grow up to be evil sociopaths.
Thank goodness this poor little bird was rescued by Simon and staff.
Being a kid is not an excuse for cruelty, any kid can learn the golden rule and build empathy. Even as a young kid I would tell others to stop hurting animals including insects like ants, it always made me sad.
Oh how sad!! Mean children parenting fail big time….thank you for saving this beautiful bird
Sometimes someone is just born a psychopath unfortunately. Pray you never have the misfortune of bringing a child with a brain damaged in that fashion into this world. No kind of good parenting and intact family can prevent that malignant behavior then and cruelty to animals is one of those red flags.
@@phangirlable very well said.
So cruel, fantastic job thank you
Graft on man-made wings?
"Impossible!"
And then I see the impossible happen.
Excellent work! Beyond expectations.
Poor pidgy, I am really glad you guys managed to save it.
The trauma of this bird is unbelievable. Kids are so cruel, little monsters. So thankful for all your help
To throw it into the air repeatedly afterwards knowing it couldn't fly as well... That's some psycho stuff.
@@L_Martin Through the ages kids have shown to have some murderous merciless attitude. Kids have to be taught emotional responsibility.
What is wrong with children? Even small children should know to never cut a bird's feathers. Whomever's raising those kids are failing them hard and I weep for their future generations
Thank you so much for helping this pigeon 🙏 A kind and decent thing to do after cruelty was inflicted upon this poor innocent being 😢
Kids can be awful. I came across a small boy throwing things at a squirrel in a tree yesterday. Needless to say I had a few words with him and made sure he moved on, and the squirrel was safe. Rotten.
So lovely. Well done to everyone. Your new center is so vital for training others!
That is amazing! I can imagine that bird woke up thinking it was all a bad dream
You people are incredible ♥
Good job Meriem and Marco. He looks so well. Well done team WAF ❤
A double wing transplant. Progress in veterinary care is wonderful. Thank you for all you do.
Thank you so very very very much for saving him xox
A massive pat on the back to you and your team for having the knowledge and skill to do this. I hope you actually understand just how incredible it is that you are able to give a bird its wings back like this!
Bless his hart ❤ fly free
Those kids are sick!!!! Keep an eye on those kids, Jesus. So glad he’s doing better now. He’s a beautiful pigeon
Wow, fascinating! Thank you for helping that poor sweetie, if only pigeons could show gratitude, I'm sure that he'd bring you chocolates and a giant bouquet of flowers! 😊
Wow! Amazing work!
I hope those children learn the error of their ways quickly, as much for their own sake as for the wildlife and human communities around them.
So sad but an amazing techinique to fix that beautiful bird, I look forward to seeing him/her fly free 🕊
The cruelty of humanity can be too much to bare. 😢
That is such a testimony to the patience your group has to save these animals! Simply amazing!
I had to go straight to the end of the video just could not bear to hear what that little pigeon had been through..... Thank you Simon and your team. God bless
I love Pigeons so much. Thank you for helping it
Kudos to the team who restructured the wings of this bird. What a painstaking, brilliant method to repair the damage of cruelty this bird suffered!👍👍👏👏
What a beautiful bird. Well done WAF. Keep up the great work. Kids can be so cruel when the parents don't teach them compassion. This is why I think having an Animal Care subject in all schools that should be just as important as Math's & English.
Thank you for helping this poor bird, that must have been horrific trauma for the innocent pigeon. Your team are masterful at imping thank you. I do hope these children get a visit from the police, it's sickening. I don't expect much in a way of prosecution but it may scare them. You shouldn't need teaching that this was cruel. Its simple; birds fly, they need their wings. It's scary there's a not just one but a group of kids with zero empathy. What a great job their parents have done.
It’s so sad that such cruelty exists in our world. It shocks me that someone could do this to an innocent animal. I’m so happy that this pigeon was given new feathers. I bet he is happy too! I think it’s amazing that a dead bird’s feathers can give another bird a chance at life!
The parents of these kids that do this should be made to pay for his treatment. What are wrong with you young people today. I say bring back conscription
That has nothing to do with "young people today". Kids being born psychopaths and torturing animals has been happening since forever. Many serial killers have tortured and killed animals when they were still a child (or even done the same to humans).
That's a remarkable repair!!! This reminds me of watching a video of a woman who repaired a butterfly's wing with a feather bought at a craft store! Just spectacular.
People are death for nature.
God, that's just awful. Poor creature. How traumatic.
Thank you all for your hard work and care for the bird.
😭😭😭 You are miracle workers, making right the multitude of wrongs in this world.
Thank you for caring your Heroes but unfortunately in the UK the punishment never fits the Crime for that terrible case of animal abuse and cruelty
Thank you for rescuing and refeathering this beautiful soul. What a sad story to begin with, but with a final happy ending
The word "amazing" has lost some of its impact over the years. Same with words like "awesome." But I am truly in awe and amazed. Both at the skill it must take to do this and at the kindness of the folks at Wildlife Aid. It is nothing short of amazing how much they can and will do for wildlife.
This is why empathy training is so crucial in small children. Poor fella, glad the recovery went so smoothly.
I just don't understand WHY anyone would do something like this. All I can say is 'Beware of Karma'. Thank you all for helping this poor defenceless bird. So kind and caring of you.
i never thought you could glue feathers back on a bird, that is amazing!
Parents please educate your children on having kindness and compasion for all creatures great and small.
Thank you for all you do. 💚💚💚💚.
Many children are monsters and what they did reflects their future.I take it they will go unpunished ? Their parents and them should be made to pay a contribution for this skilled work and humanity .What is happening in UK to have so much cruelty ? Thank you for your work and I look forward to the release ..Whoever witnessed this should have intervened .Thank you all at WAF👍❤🕊
So glad that poor bird could be helped to fly again - I never knew that wing feathers could be replaced like that ! What great work. 👍
Bless all of you , this poor pigeon so cruelly attacked . Then your vet team helped to create and repair his wings . I look forward to seeing his release . ❤❤❤
Thank you for everything you do or the animals.💗💗💗💗.
What's wrong with the kids these days? This is so sad. Beautiful bird, very lucky after all. Thank you for rescuing it❤
It honestly amazes me that people are still shocked and surprised that other people harm animals! Humans are evil creatures for the most part, the only thing that surprises me is the people who're willing to actually help animals. Thanks to you all for giving this bird his life back.
Kids who do things like this need their own wings clipped by their parents - we all did some crazy things as children - but not cruelty to animals- kids like this often grow up to be dangerous adults
Exactly. I
It’s amazing that they were able to help out a traumatized pigeon by adhesion of another pigeons wing feathers .That, my friends, is dedication.
That is amazing. I can’t believe every save your organization does. You are truly beautiful people. As for those kids…isn’t that usually how serial killers start out. If one of those kids was mine, they would not want to meet my wrath. UNBELIEVABLE, they could be so CRUEL 👹🤬🤬🤬🤬
I was avoiding this video because it is so horrifying to think about but I skipped to the midpoint and I’m so glad this bird could be saved ❤
Thankyou for caring The parents of these children should have been told spy cams every where
As a Londoner born in the late 1940s, i always considered city pigeons as flying vermin but was brought up to never harm any form of animal life, can’t imagine what sort of people breed kids that are lower in the Evolutionary Scale!
I have to admit, i saw this come up in my feed on Friday and I've been afraid to watch, because I take these things to heart way too much and get hit way too hard. And, yup, I absolutely did. How very sad for the pigeon and how cruel of the children to do this. I know it's always been a human thing, but I'll never understand. I hope they are in a position, somewhere, where they learn their lesson and that this type of thing isn't OK. Heartbreaking. Thank the heavens he was brought to you so you can help him recover, and you could give him 'new' wings. Thank you for helping him and thank you for all you do re: educating the public on how to be better 'wildlife friends'!
You are artists as well as medics. I love pigeons. Unfortunately so many don't. Thank you. Nuka
Lovely heartwarming story. Thanks for caring
