Rescued after THREE DAYS trapped under a brick!

- We can honestly say that this was one of the most difficult rescues we've ever done here at Wildlife Aid...
This poor wood pigeon was trapped in a 6ft deep hole... with a brick on top of it. If that weren't bad enough, there was barely any access room. With two other organisations already deeming the rescue impossible without knocking down the wall, Lawrie and Simon set off to try.
Brace yourself, this is an behemoth of a rescue!

Phew... that was definitely a tricky one!
Thank you all, as always, for your support! If you wanted to help us rescue, rehabilitate and release more animals, please like the video, share and SUBSCRIBE to our channel! We release new videos every week!
Definitely tricky indeed. Thank you so much for your determination to all of WAF! Still laughing everytime about the ever hilarious ‘job titles’ and descriptive characterizations: Lawrie ‘refusing to give up while bruising his sternum, succeeding with utter stubbornness and creativity’ Brailey, is what I learned from this footage. I mean, it is a lovely addition to his long line of being all sorts of ‘species food’, right?😁
Poor little pidge. They don't get a lot of love as opposed to other birds and yet there's something oddly charming and innocent about them. Great job, and major kudos to the homeowner for letting you do your thing and tear things up in order to get to him AND for rewarding you for your efforts too. c:
They certainly don't, but we treat everything the same here! They all deserve a second chance :)
We're also very grateful that the homeowner called us and was willing to accept a little damage!
@@wildlifeaid I find wood pigeons quite picturesque when they walk over the meadows to forage.
@@johannageisel5390 Yeah, they are. There's something about them. Something to do with their colours and the distribution of those colours. They have this very lovely "cafe con leche" on them.
They are charming and innocent, nothing odd about it
Thank you for saving this beautiful boy! Pigeons are amazing birds but often overlooked ❤
Thanks so much. All animals matter here at Wildlife Aid!
I wish everyone was like you but sadly most don’t ☹️ Ty for loving them like I do
You got that right Vixx. There are even pigeons that got metals for their services in the war. Look it up people, especially if you don't like pigeons. That will change your minds.
Pigeons are my favourite birds, so much character. I can watch them for hours.
Lawrie, you’re an amazing man! Simon, you’re an amazing mentor!
Thank you so much! That's so kind of you to say!
I totally agree. Couldn't have said it better.
The lengths you guys are prepared to go to save a life deemed unimportant to so many is nothing short of REMARKABLE 💜xXx
Thank you so much Emily! We definitely won't give up!
Yes! ❤🕊
The world is a better place because of Simon and all those at Wildlife Aid. Thank you for giving so much of yourselves.
Thank you so much!
Would have been a lonely, miserable death without you heroes. Thank you!
It certainly would poor thing... Thank you!
Gosh, I think i held my breath the whole time. What an incredible rescue. I can't believe Lawrie suffered contusion as well. Well done Lawrie, Simon, WAF
Thanks so much! It was a very tricky one!
TY for saving this pigeon from a most brutal, cruel death. One more wildlife released to the wild is another victory for them and your organization. Pigeons are one of the smartest wildlife. Hugs to all!
Brilliant job well done. I sold my arts and crafts at my village Christmas bazaar and have raised £200 for Simon's last wish to go to wildlife aid foundation.
That's amazing! Thank you so much, we really appreciate your kind help!
Great.
Thankyou so much for saving one of God's precious babies 👶 💗 💖 💓 💕 💛 👶 💗 💖
Poor pidgeon, and poor Lawrie! I'm glad both are on the the mend. Well done Lawrie! You never cease to amaze me. Hats off to the team, and to the compassionate homeowners.
I want to find a man as dedicated to me as Lawrie was to that pigeon! Well done to all the team, especially Lawrie 🐦
Haha! Thank you very much!
Wow - that was an amazing rescue - hard work and determination - two months of
recovery - very fortunate wood pigeon - you are the bomb!!!
Thank you so much, we really appreciate it!
Wow 2 months of free food & shelter for the pigeon. I'm sure he appreciated it.
Your determination and commitment to helping animals no matter how great the challenge is truly inspiring!
Thank you so much, we really appreciate that!
"At the moment, I've got the litter picker on the end of the squirrel-grasper" is a sentence I never heard before.
It's certainly a very niche sentence!
My friend said “you eat meat and chickens etc, so why bother worrying about that pigeon?”
It’s about reducing suffering. It’s about compassion. It’s about giving wild animals a second chance.
Thanks Simon and Laurie. I love you guys. Xxx
Excellent improvisation and problem solving skills! Kudos to the property owner for allowing this level of destruction for the rescue of 'just a pigeon.' So many people class them as 'vermin' or food for other creatures. I don't and thankfully neither do Wildlife Aid, a life is a life, wood pigeon might not be as handsome as an owl or as magestic as an osprey but is still a sentient being with his own personality. Well done!
Once someone left a mouse trap cage set with bread inside, it was on my father's property on top of some place I was not able to reach as I was a small kid.
There was a sparrow trapped inside, for days I heard it was packing, but I was not able to locate the source of sound of the bird.
When years later we were cleaning the place , we finally found the remains of a dead bird in the mouse trap cage, made my heart heavy after over 30 years.
I am an animal lover and in general cannot see any living thing in a painful condition, this memory will remain hunting me for the rest of my life.
I saved several birds from glue traps, but cannot shake the sounds that poor birds were making to get my attention playing very near to it but have no idea what is happening
I wish we had this kind of wildlife dedication where I live but we don't unfortunately. Your awesome for what you do. The world needs more people like your team you have there with the dedication to wildlife like y'all have. Your a diamond in the rough.
Thank you so much. That's so kind of you to say :)
You could start it. You could be that person like Simon and his team.
Before people got involved most dogs caught by dog catcher didn't live very long they were euthanized. In the 90s a group of volunteers started a nonprofit took over the dog pound built a new state of art one and now they rehab and do vet care and the strays and abandoned dogs are adopted right out of the pound and the dog catcher does his job but isn't relued on 100% for dog's welfare. And so when people come together miracles can happen.
Thanks! always appreciate your mighty efforts in rescuing and caring for wildlife
Thank you so much! That's so kind and generous of you!
What a brave pigeon. The stress of any part.of his story would kill many birds. Thank you Wildlife Aid for all you do 👏👏😊👏👏👏💕
Poor birb 😭
Lucky birb as he was saved 🙏🙏🙏
Wonderful work, thank you for caring. 💗💗💗💗.
Thanks for saving Percy! Well done guys! Thanks to the nice woman also, for getting him help.🕊️🕊️🕊️
Thanks so much!
thank you so much for this rescue. many people would say why, it's just a dove. a few days ago, i saw a dove, sitting next to it's dead little chick on the street. it was heartbreaking. these animals also have feelings and a soul.
Thank you! We think everything deserves help if we can!
@@wildlifeaid ♥️
Dear Simon, Lawrie & WAF Staff ~
Altho I'm confident you've heard this many, many times, it certainly bears repeating. You are truly Heroes. Beautiful angels of mercy. For all you do to rescue & restore the most innocent of God's creations, may you be profoundly blessed.🙏♥️🇺🇲✌
Thank you so much. That's so kind of you to say!
Well done Lawrie, ever thought of being a ninja assassin?
Haha! We will mention that to him!
Superheroes!
Thank you so much!
You really go more than the extra mile, you go the universe. Thank you so much for this extremely difficult rescue.
Lawrie you're an absolute star & Simon you are as well but don't want to make you too big headed! Hope Lawrie's bruised chest is fully recovered.
Xxx
Thanks so much! Luckily Lawrie is ok now thanks :)
Amazing. Lifts my heart to see these rescues. And good on the house owners for caring and doing the right thing 🕊
This is when and why you bring in the best. You need the people that care enough to put that extra effort in to save an innocent animal.
Thank you so much :)
OMG!
There was once a cave exploration accident, where a person got stuck upside down in a shaft and... sadly didn't survive. I was really concerned for Lawrie ending up in a similar position.
But I'm really happy and thankful that you go to such lengths to free animals. For them it would also be a horrible death if nobody came and got them out. Poor little lives; they deserve not to die in fear and suffering too.
I'm so relieved the wood pigeon got well again. Nice little birds.
Yes we definitely heard about that! Luckily this wasn't quite that tight!
What an epic rescue. Claustrophobic tight dusty spikey space, dangling upside down, not the right tools and improvising, and the poor pigeon stuck under bricks! I'm glad both "Percy" and Lawrie healed well to fly and rescue (respectively) another day. We'll done and thank you.
Thank you for saving the pidgeon! Pidgeon are incredible animals, they're docile, friendly, intelligent, loyal, loving, brave, beautiful with the lovliest sound and literally bred to be our companions. They served us well during the world wars saving countless of lives (and then we discarded them like they were nothing). They deserve our respect and love!
With so much bad news in our world everyday, it is wonderful to see kindness.
It is so wonderful that there are so many people out there willing to go to the mat to save a small bird. God bless you all.
Amazing rescue and also lots of love to the home owners for not giving up and calling everyone they could to help the poor pigeon.
Thank you! We're so glad they called us out!
Aw thank you for helping the sweet little wood pigeon. It was ever so brave at the vet's!
What incredible perseverance. That pigeon was so lucky to have you almost fall down that hole to rescue it. Simon: 'No, we don't like the easy ones." Brilliant!
999 who needs it when you and Lawrie are about!! Love it, well done again
Ok, after this you can't bill Lawrie as Disposable Simon ever again. Lawrie is the MVP. He and Simon are the dream team.
Haha! Ok, we will agree to that! Thank you!
Lawrie, you're crazy. The good kind of crazy :)
Hope you're good now.
Haha, thank you!
It took a little while, but Lawrie is ok now thanks :)
Fantastic resvue its just what we all expect from you all at wildlife aid foundation you make it so easy to support you in all your work to protect all our wildlife. Thank You once again.
A bird magnet would have come in handy for the rescue. I'm happy the little one is saved. Thanks!
There is no friggin' way! But Lawrie did it. Amazing.
😱 cor blimey what a rescue, so glad he hadn't broken anything. Large coffee and a slice of cake after that one. 💪 Awesome job and video guy's thanks 💖😁
Thanks so much! It was definitely a tricky one! We were amazed that he was ok after all of that!
Aww he does look a lil bedraggled but overall he's doing great, all things considered! This is so lovely to see him flying away free and happy :)
These birds never seem to get respect bit I luv 'em
They certainly don't! We think everything deserves a second chance here!
What amazing people you are - if only I lived closer I would love to be a volunteer, even at my 70 yrs of age. I currently feed daily a fox family of 5 and have done so for 2 yrs.
When so many others would have thought good riddance to a pest, Wildlife Aid and the amazing homeowners stopped at nothing to save this pigeon's life--truly wonderful!
Thanks so much :)
Hardest work great job well done guys God bless you all thank you and take a good care 👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much :)
Bravo for sparing no effort to rescue any animal no matter how low they may be regarded by humans. Pigeons are considered as vermin or "flying rats" in many areas I can't imagine many making any effort to save one
Thanks so much. Everything deserves help here :)
😳Truly a remarkable rescue!😄 He didn't come out he ran out. LOL hahaha🤣😂 Lawrie I'm so sorry for your injuries BUT you are my hero!! You DEFINITELY go out of your way to grt the job done, even if it causes you bodily damage!! smh You did a fantastic job rescuing the wood pigeon!! I even heard the magpie in the background welcome him home as he flew away!! Well Done 👏 sir!! You Superpowers are aMAzing! WAY better that Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, or even Capt. America!! AND you are far more handsome. Thank you kind sir for your compassion & dedication to wildlife. Sincerely, Grandma Sherry 👩🦳💖💕🦌🐀🐿🐼🦔🦔🦡🦡🐾🐾
Thank you so much! That's so kind of you to say! We really appreciate it :)
This was seriously intense and Lawrie yet again deserves a medal.
I,m sure, Simon is very happy he's having the best helper
What wonderful people, truly heroes. How many people would make any effort at all to save a pigeon, much less this extreme effort? Not many, that’s for sure. Thank you. 💚
Hermoso!!! Me emociona mucho, cuando lo liberan, sanitos!!!
I love how much love you all have for every animal equally. So many people would not give a care for a pigeon.
Well done Lawrie! This must be the most terrifying one to watch from the rescuer's perspective. I'm glad you all are ok!
Oh my gosh, bless you guys! I love Pigeons, and I'm so glad you spent the colossal effort to rescue him. Thank you!
Hats off to Lawrie for this amazing job in such a tight & uncomfortable space! That was quite stressful to watch, so all the more happy about the outcome! I like wood pigeons, but they do seem rather clumsy (we had one stuck in a bird feeder once; apparently he had no self-awareness that he was way too large for the little wood house and just kept squeezing in there). Hope this one stays safe & happy now! :)
Thank you so much! They certainly can find themselves in some very odd situations!
Thank you, you glorious people! You are everything humans are supposed to be: persistant, kindhearted, ingenious and brave. I bow to you, good sirs
Thank you so much! That's so kind of you!
Thank you for looking after all the wildlife 🦊🦊🦝🦝🐭🐭🐰🐰🦔🦔🦢🦢🦆🦆
Lawrie you are one amazing rescuer 😍! The positions you get into to rescue our beautiful wildlife is just crazy. But you and Simon always save them in the end. Thank you for saving this pigeon. To see those bricks on him, I just couldn’t imagine what he was going through. I didn’t think he was going to make it. Thank you again for all your efforts again to save another animal.
Congrats, Lawrie and Simon, on a very impressive and difficult rescue. 👏👍😊
Did I just hear Simon say "please dont kill your self before you gets the bird"? :D :D haha
You did indeed! That's British humour for you! ;)
You can't help but giggle a little bit to see successful and happy ending. 🕊️
We're so glad we could help him!
You guys are my heroes. I held my breathe through this rescue. Great job. Thanks to the owners of the property for not giving up too.
Thank you so much! We're so glad the homeowners were so caring too!
That was absolutely amazing! Talk about inventing gear on the fly… wow! That’s one very fortunate bird!
Problem solving definition: Creativity on the fly. 👍👍
Incredible work
On a scale from 0 to 10, how proud are you of Lawrie, Simon?
Sir David would be proud of you! and so am I .
Oh wow! This rescue was the result of creativity and determination. Thank you!
Well done, that looked tricky AF
Thanks so much, it was definitely VERY tricky!
Absolutely incredible rescue - had to laugh at the little speed-walk the pigeon did before flying off 😆- I often seen robins running along instead of flying but that's the first time I've seen a pigeon do it lol
Good job guys! It is like watching a surgery.
Thanks so much! It was certainly a very tricky rescue!
Thankyou❤️❤️❤️From Japan
If anyone could rescue this pigeon it was definitely Lawrie and Simon!
No life ever wasted. You're great. I love you guys.
Fantastic brains with fantastic hearts - you are incredible
Thank you so much!
Another happy ending. Well done all.
Gold star ⭐️ and two thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻 for that rescue Lawrie! I’m so glad the pigeon is ok.
Thank you very much!
A very well deserved bottle of wine, Laurie, nice work! 👍
Haha, thank you!
The most impressive thing is Simon's camera work for the release - he's learned a lot!
Haha, he has indeed!
This rescue was very difficult, very dangerous too. Thank you for rescuing this humble creature from a certain, horrible death. You are amazing human beings! ❤❤
Lawrie seems not to blink when rescues mean braving extreme heights in the wind and rain or entering spaces so small a Victorian chimney sweep might think twice. Very impressive!
Wow!Lawrie is an absolute superhero!
Go, Lawrie the Stubborn! You're my favourite superhero! Maybe except for Spider-Man. Spider-Man is pretty cool.
Haha! Thank you!
I came to expect the impossible from you, guys, but this rescue managed to amaze me. A great thank you to the homeowners too!
Thank you so much. This was DEFINITELY a tricky one!
Poor little pigeon 😥 Thank you so very much for rescuing him from suffering a long horrible death 💕
We think everything deserves help if we can give it :)
@@wildlifeaid Indeed! I often got to the park, catch young Pigeons who have string tied around their feet and cut out as much as I can. I 've saved many toes and a several feet from amputation! I have a little kit with rubbing alcohol as well
Outstanding work Laurie and Simon. I was a bit tense watching this. I did not want Laurie to get hurt. That was hard on the body, I could see that. I know that Laurie like Simon give it their all at all times and lick their wounds after it's over. Bless you guys. You are angels.
Thank you so much! It was definitely a tricky one!
Lawrie and Simon,
A photographers monopod has the ability to extend to close to 2 miters in length, yet compacts into a much smaller package. Also has a hand strap so it won't fall into the abyss.
Not nearly as flimsy as some of the poles you're using . You can also remove the rubber foot and attach a snare on the end when more length is needed. The carbon fiber versions are light and stiff, which in this rescue would have aided in moving the brick and capturing the bird.
Well done guys.
Thanks for the suggestion! Lawrie actually uses monopods himself, so we do have one in the car if needed! Unfortunately, the other options we had were too big to get down the hole!
Beautifull soul u are . God's Blessings to you....and ofcorse Simon 🎁.
Thank you so much :)
What brave men! I know i can trust them with my life.
You were able to rescue a bird others couldn’t. Well done! How long did it take?
Thank you so much! We were there for just over an hour in total :)
@@wildlifeaid Brilliant job!
@@wildlifeaid Gotta say, that's some mighty impressive bloody-mindedness on Lawrie's part! And I know a bit bout bloody-mindedness myself! 😉
@@wildlifeaid Have you since added a cushion to your rescue kit?
You are amazing amazing and great 👍
Thank you for rescuing this pigeon
I’m subscribing to you
Thank you for having the humility and feeling that all life is important and not thinking just because it’s a pigeon it’s not worth anything
Goddamn boys, good thing Laurie isn't claustrophobic!
Haha, luckily not!
