Speedrun as Sonic in Sonic Advance 2 as the beginning of the story in 2nd part of Advance.
Story:
Taking place on an undefined island, Dr. Eggman has again begun kidnapping Animals and turning them into robots so he can build the Dr. Eggman Empire. This time however, he has kidnapped Tails and Knuckles too. Learning of his friends' kidnapping, Sonic rushes off to save them. Along the way, Sonic saves a young rabbit named Cream and her Chao friend, Cheese, from Eggman after defeating his EggHammerTankII. Cream then joins Sonic on his adventure to find her missing mother, Vanilla.
Sonic soon rescues Tails from Eggman too, although Tails has no idea what Eggman is up to, and Tails joins Sonic on his mission. When Sonic finds Knuckles, the echidna has been tricked by Eggman into fighting Sonic. After being defeated and chided by Sonic, Knuckles comes with him to get back at Eggman. The heroes eventually track Eggman to his Egg Utopia space station, which they destroy, and Cream finds Vanilla in the aftermath, unharmed.

God I wish we had more games in the Advance style. Amazing sprite work, great sense of building up speed, fun soundtracks, tiny chao gardens, awesome zones, etc...

The Special Stages in this game are stupidly easy. They're practically giving you the emerald. The hardest part about the Special Stages is just finding the Special Rings to unlock them.
Thats the point cause in advance 1 finding and wining the special stage was way too hard
Sonic Advanced 2 was the very first Sonic game, and even the very first Video Game I ever played. I remember one day when I was a kid I was really mad at something and back then my mom tried to keep me away from video games and TV even though my oldest sister, older brother and older sister had video games and TV. But when I was sulking about something, my older brother peeked around from behind the corner with a huge grin on his face. He sneaked me his GBA with this game on it. It changed my life. My mom also walked in on us in his room doing sum stupid shit playing the game and watching TV. She wasn't even mad, she kinda laughed as if saying, "why did I bother trying". Great memories.

Hands down the fastest game in the whole series besides Unleashed. The sense of speed and seeing Sonic’s after images never get old

Something immaculate about the way Sonic moves starting at 27:41 to the end of the act. holy shit. more sonic levels should allow for that kind of movement. everything about that was tight.
I've always seen TAS speedruns as the canon way of playing Sonic games
I absolutely love the bits where you go so fast that the camera can barely catch up.
Honestly I never really realized ‘till now how similar the Advance games are similar to the Rush games in terms of level design. Must be ‘cause they’re both made by Dimps. Heck, Rush is pretty much Advance but with the boost tbh.
Advance 1 and 3. Rush and advance 2 have one key difference: this game is very forward based, while rush is mostly timing based. In this game, you don't really have to much besides kind of go forward (nothing wrong with it, a more focused game allows for stuff like... THIS(also not press right to win it has more than that)) while Rush needs much more timing (not like Advance 2 doesn't, it's just that rush has much more of it.) However, yes, they are still quite similar.
Rush is just advance 2 but with instant access to boost and because of it the levels can be more creatively designed instead of a downward slope to encourage the player to enter and maintain the boost state like in adv2.

Zone XX's size is proportional to how much time it takes you to clear it. This TAS reduces XX to its smallest possible size and thus retroactively reduced the cost of its construction, saving Eggman millions of dollars.
Looks like he saved at least 15% or more of his savings

Even sonic himself could not be as fast as you can. Speedrun + no damage + all chaos emerald + all bosses under 10 seconds.. This is PERFECT

Watching this is so mesmerizing, the whole sonic advance trilogy were honestly the best compared to other aonic games these held a vibe like no other what sonic truely is meant to be, you truely masterd this game which takes a lot of skill
I never knew about these special stages. I always thought you had to find the big spring to do the space fall snowboard levels to get the emerdoods.

@@The7337th unfortunaltely not. but i think, many other speedruns for example are quite boring if just the ingame dialogue is the only fast thing and everything else can't be accelarated like sonic

Isn’t a sonic speed run just a regular run
This is an *Advance* run
In the short period from 27:40-27:48, you managed to time the sound effects of what you were doing with the music. I doubt it was intentional, but it was cool.
Also the airdash in this game is interesting. At first it seems really useless, but the more you play around with it you find out it's just about the best asset in the game and all other characters are held back by not having it.
Am I the only one who never knew what the special stage looked like because I could never find all the emblems? 😆

This is a TAS, or Tool-Assisted Speedrun. It means that they were telling the game what to do every frame, instead of playing it normally.

I thought it was a fake cause the Ring was moving faster and stopping at times in each level.
But later I realized that it was actually Sonic's speed that was altering the rings speed.
I haven't played in years. So don't blame me.

This is the one sonic game I could never 100%. Getting all the medals in these fast paced stages was asking too much. At least I finish advanced 1&3 some how!

I still dont understand how they managed to get 999 rings in every single one of the special stages whereas during my playthrough I barely managed to get 300. Amazing gameplay.

@Tails' Workshop Master System versions wasn't that bad.
I haven't noticed before how awfully close the camera is zoomed in on your character in this game.
GBA screen is tiny.
It's one of the main flaws, tbh. It's not as bad for the older games, but with how fast you can go in Advance, the screen being so close hurts the gameplay. I still love the Advance series, but it still has issues despite that.
It’s why Advance 1 being as slow as it is was probably for the best and why caving to negative reception and making 2 so fast you constantly run into stuff probably wasn’t a good idea.

Finding 7 Special Rings in sometimes odd locations in a game about going fast doesn’t go well together especially since this is on the GBA and the screen is shrinked. Advance 1 did it better with the Special Springs.
