Bit late to the party, but the Scorpion with no tracks at 4:40 has the same license plate as a sequence of scorps issued to B Sqn The Blues and Royals in Windsor. All our scorps had sequential plates, and I distinctly remember 03FD83 as we were on our way via Brize Norton to Cyprus in 1974. It got left behind in the 25mph convoy as it overheated, and the civvy Police told the driver to make best speed to catch up. They clocked it at 83mph!!! Those are not the original headlights though!

They are great buses. I had a spartan for 3 years (in fact quite a few) as troop commander of an AD troop. My official runabout was actually a ferret, but usually we had to run in the war reserve vehicles, so it became a camping car for my driver and I. Also a better ride by far than the ferret. Amazing longevity and oh yes, they could pile on the speed.

The Springer ATV 10:35 would be perfect on the farm. Haven't driven one since, my time in the sandpit, chasing the..... Let's just say it was a few years ago.

Hi Steve... thanks for your comment. Yes.. anyone can buy !! Its actually a Tender... you go and view or view on-line prior to the auction... then make a bid .. online or by fax / email... Once the deadline for bidding is reached (usually 15.00hrs on the Monday following the viewing days ... ) the highest bid on each item is the winner.

None of them still there... generally if they didn't sell through a couple of auctions they went for scrap !!

That Scania 3 series bodied carmicheal would make a cracking support truck for the dakar rally. Some of those CVRT have seen better days, i know my Sultan was in better form than these examples. Id love to take a look in there at some point with a view to looking at or pricing up a wolf ambi.

The thing with these auctions is that the small collector is screwed.. Yeah, just want that Ferret, it'll be okay they have 19 of them .. and then you enquire and find out they've all already been sold to some tinpot dictatorship in south america .. they hardly ever entertain small sales.
On the contrary.... I know many individual collectors / restorers who have purchased single vehicles from Witham Specialist Vehicles. I personally purchased a Lightweight Landrover... and very nearly a Saracen. ( in the end purchased an Abbot SPG from another dealer... however I did own a Saracen later) Acquaintances of mine have purchased many CVRT variants, trucks, loads of landrovers, Tanks..... armoured cars etc etc. I have bought loads of spares from them. Always found them very helpful when dealing with individual collectors, cheers Paul

Does anyone know if the Spartan, Scorpion, Scimitar and Samaritan all had Jaguar engines, is this still the case?
Thanks for your comment..... glad you like the video. I agree its a shame they are left open to the elements..... but many do get purchased and eventually restored.
They all had the Jaguar J60 engine originally ... but as part of the Life Extension Programme (LEP) the J60s were replaced with Cummins BTA 5.9 diesel engines. I have recently restored a Sabre which has a Jaguar engine... see my video.. ua-cam.com/video/r7HhLxsAkmc/v-deo.html
Loved the Sabre in suburbia, it looks superb, what a great restoration. The civvie number plate looks a tad out of place though, I liked the black and white regular army one, but to register and get legal then its the usual plates. Does it still do 60 mph forward and reverse?
On average, how many kms do you see CVRT engines having run before they are sold? Are they relatively low milage when you purchase?
I see you also have smoke discharges fitted. I used to love popping smoke out of them.
Even if I could afford the tank at the beginning of the video it's likely I wouldn't be allowed to bring it into the USA at all, and if I could they would make it so difficult it may as well be impossible.
John..... importing these vehicles to the USA is not a problem. We shipped an Abbot SPG to Houston (in 1995) and two years ago a CVRT Striker to Canada... no problem !! Search my youtube channel to see these vehicles. Cheers Paul
Paul Donovan After posting my comment I read your comment to another user concerning the main gun being deactivated. That would make it importable for ordinary citizens. But it would take some of the fun away from owning my own tank..

should have kept that gun & put it on a chieftain/challenger chassis for the armoured engineers.the money sent to india as aid should have been cancelled & could have paid for that vehicle to be fielded.
