- The Black Halo is metal band Kamelot's seventh full-length album. It was released on March 15, 2005, through Steamhammer Records. It is a concept album loosely based on Goethe's Faust. Continuing the story introduced in Epica, it is the second and final record in Kamelot's two-part concept about Ariel. It features guest appearances by Simone Simons (Epica), Shagrath (Dimmu Borgir), Jens Johansson (Stratovarius), and several others.
Ariel reflects upon his actions and realizes that he may never find the truth.
Interlude I (Dei Gratia) - 0:57
Abandoned - 04.07
This Pain - 03.59
Enjoy.
Faust is such an incredibly sad story. And this reproduction by the best band in the history of mankind ... it's so powerful. Makes me want to cry.
So much better with a glass of wine :)
For those who asked about the Latin on the first song:
5. Interlude I: Dei Gratia (Grace of God)
Sub sole nihil novi est
Ad astra per aspera
Quaerite prime regnum dei
Ante bellum memento mori
[English translation:]
Nothing new under the sun
to the stars through the thorns [or, to the stars after the rain]
Seek first the kingdom of God
Remember the death before the war.
He actually says “ Ad aspera, per aspera " “ To thorns ( a metaphor for hardships ) through thorns ".
+FabainLacapus In other words, its another way to say "Light at the end of the tunnel. Different words, same meaning.
+Bradley McDaniel Actually the way it's worded here he's saying that the light at the end of his tunnel is Hell fire.
yeah, i see this as neverending suffering, even after working so hard for his answers, they never came, fighting for it only brought him more suffering
I kept rewinding to 0:31. I love that interlude, there is just something about it.
thanx for description, this is very helpful with understanding the album
I find the band to be very good. I was introduced to it by a friend a little over a year ago, and i have already listened to all of there song's. Including the one's before khan, or kahn (Can't remember how to spell it) came to be apart of the band. kahn is a much better singer i belive. I have yet to find an actual song by Kamelot that i dont like. these three songs are actualy in my top 20 lol. so i have to give this a good rating.
I believe Dei Gratia is Latin, though I'm not 100% sure on that
I wished the intro-singing would be longer :( I love his voice !!!!
Abandoned has to be my favorite song by Kamelot. It's greaaaaaat.
It has something, Just stunning. I could sit here and replay it all day.
really?
if you would, could i possibly get the link to that wiki-story from you???
For some reason this song ends 1/4 in on Pandora, annoying as hell, seeing how good it is.
so, is this a story that was intended by the band or you.
either way, its amazing!
love the latin at the start, with the perfect finish of this pain. Very nicely done.
@FallenAngelofNeglect Agreed. Highly unfortunate that Khan has left though.
that's great, I'm gonna watch all of them =)
agreed, i wanted more! at least another minute.
The begging is Latin :D and the reason it ends 1/4 of the way is because the rest is another song called, "Abandoned". Hope I helped, the title means "Grace of the Gods" in Latin, (I only too one year so it'll take me a bit to remember the rest of it)
