Some homebrewers, myself included, have used those as economical fermenters for larger batches. Bulkhead and ball valve installed on one of the flat corners, and drill the lid for an airlock.
Love this! I made a similar prop with a larger dog food container, but yours has inspired me to revisit mine and make it better. Thanks.....I think. :)
Love this build Derek!! Great use of the old container man! Excellent find on the Bluetooth receiver too! I've been looking for something like this to add audio to one of my previous builds!! Thanks for the awesome content as always!
Wow! I have an extra one of these containers - just double in height. I don’t need a speaker HOWEVER, you got me thinking 🤔 I COULD use a secure carry case for my 501st Armorer’s helmet!
That's kind of what I was thinking about as I was building it. I know the 501st likes to have their booth spaces decorated and it would be a great way to have some sound effects playing to make it feel even more immersive.
Is it possible to just 3D print the parts if I don't have access to a laser cutting machine? I'm very interested in the tiles and LEDs portion. How did you achieve the blinking? Thanks.
You absolutely could. As for the blinking LEDs go, you can buy ones that blink at different rates and that’s what I used. I have a link in the video description to where I buy them.
@VanOaksProps Thanks for the heads up on the tiles. I did end up finding the LEDs, too. However, I was just curious as to what color LED you used with each color tile. Did you use white LEDs since the tiles are colored? Or, did you match color for color? Sorry for any confusion, and thank you as always.
My wife fusses at me because I always keep those odd looking containers. Thanks for making my case why! LOL I used one of those little black waterproof ammo boxes from Harbor Freight. I also used a Rockler speaker kit. Works and looks great! I'd really like to start putting my stuff on video but I'm not brave enough! What if I upload the video and people tell me I'm no good. What if they say "Get outta here, man. You got no future"? I mean, I just don't think I could take that kind of rejection! LOL
Awesome project! I want to build this for my son. Any chance you could post the files for the laser cut panels? As always, great video. Love all of your projects!
It's too bad you couldn't make another one with a small projector inside. Then you could add cables that look like they connect to each other like a hologram setup.
Been holding on to a similar storage bin and now I’m inspired to “go make something.” Thanks as always Derek!
Turned out beautifully! Really cool build!
This was fun ! I saw this photo on IG and I THOUGHT it was a dog food container ! Lol !
Fun build.
Great project. If it has a bit of a hollow or boomy sound, adding some wadding to the inside may help.
Thanks! I had considered that. I'll need to look into it a bit more.

Alright, this was awesome! I had no clue about heat treating the plastic for a better bond, thank you D for sharing my friend!
I didn’t either before starting. Super thankful for my maker community. Id have been really mad if the paint started scraping off.
Going to have to try the heat method. A lot easier than sanding.
The heat-treating HDPE tip alone was worth the price of admission.
Hopefully it’ll save people a lot of time.
I recently spotted one of these containers at Goodwill, now I have a new project.
That came out so good! I should totally make a shop speaker like this!
You should!
Awesome work as always man! Love this idea! Also loved your little nod to the juice lids 😜
Yeah man! Juice lids for life!

Won’t PetSmart be confuse when there is a run on these! Very nice job. It would be fun to see an Imperial version!
Hahaha.
Man, that was a sweet transformation. Love it!
Thanks!
You can also use a Cricut Vinyl cutter with a deep cut blade on sheets of styrene.
Wow...that's the coolest thing ever!!
So awesome!
This turned out great!
Thank you!

There you go!
Looks great D!
Thanks!
Very Nice Work, Love It.😘💕😀😃😁
I'm glad you like it
I love it. This would be great on our 501st Legion table at cons.

@@VanOaksProps exactly. Now I just need to find an appropriate size and shaped container.
Fantastic love this idea 💡
Thanks dude!
Is there a wiring diagram to follow?
It's in the video.

@VanOaksProps Thank you. Where did you get the colored tiles and what color LEDs did you use? Thanks again.
@@603VIL I sell the acrylic tiles in my Etsy shop and the LEDs are linked in the video description.

I say do it. If you enjoy it, do it again. People will always have opinions. You’ve got to do what makes you happy.
@@VanOaksProps@gunnarbiker Get out of town! I didn’t know you did anything creative!

Sure thing! Let me compile them and I’ll share a link here.
Thanks so much!

@@VanOaksProps That's awesome! Thanks so much!
OK first great video. Second has anyone ever told you you sound like Casey Kasem?
Thanks. haha. All the time.
Very cool. I think I have the same container. Will the cats miss it do you think?
Do they miss anything? 🤣
@@VanOaksProps They are aware of everything!

There is an incorrect link to the BT receiver..
It works for me. Where does it take you?
Wait a moment - public libraries in the US have 3D printers for random use?
Some do, yes. Pretty cool, right?
@@VanOaksProps yeah,, that's the first time I hear about that. I wish here in Germany we had that too. xD
