  • In this reel, we visit four facilities with rehabilitation services that are tearing down the stigma associated with life in prison. We travel to Nevada to train wild horses with convict cowboys, perform Shakespeare with the Solano State Prison theater company, and care for goats, sheep and sloths at the zoo run by inmates.

    Why can't all prisons have those kinda activities? Most of the time in prison inmates end up terrified or worse then how they were. Activities like this can fill someone full of positivity energy, which is what they need to help recoup and inspire them to do better things.

      Savage Redhood019 too many Americans believe that people should be punished for revenge rather than forced to reform like these guys.

      Conrad Korbol true believe it or not we got better before it was far worse the real problem is people see prisoners has nothing but crazy monsters who need to die when in reality there most likely just guys who had a hard life

      It would be pretty expensive to fund and not all people are willing to work with inmates. But I hope in the future there will be more of this.

    A great reminder that prisoners are people too, regardless of what they've done.

      dog guy I'm just saying that prisoners are still people with feelings and emotions, whether they're good people or not is a statement I didn't make.

    It’s this type of programs are great because as well as helping their mental health, they can also help have a bit of work experience and might have a better chance at finding a job.

    I like how they didn't have the prisoners state what they did to be in prison. It reflects the theme of equal rehabilitation regardless of how you are or where you come from.

    I live in Reno, not far from Carson City. Horses and the rodeo are big in Nevada, and it makes me happy to see something productive in a state people often overlook.

      Animals in pain? They took care of them. It's a win-win for both the horse and the inmates.

    • @DrewskiTheLegend
      @DrewskiTheLegend 6 років тому +10

      Ivy Popejoy I worked with horses for 3 years. Trust me, spurs and bits are not cruel nor inhumane when used properly. The horses don’t mind, and they are treated well, loved and kept safe. Seems like a good trade off.

    • @ivyp947
      @ivyp947 6 років тому

      DrewskiTheLegend lol you are so ignorant aren’t you?? How would you like to have metal in your mouth? That is not something natural for the horse. Equestrians are so blind!

    • @reaputnam
      @reaputnam 6 років тому +4

      I've been riding for years, and while bits and spurs can certainly be abused, the horses are comfortable. The vast majority of equestrians love their horses deeply and would definitely not continue using these tools if it hurt their horses in any way. Spurs should only be occasionally he used by experienced riders anyways, if at all. It's not so far different from what a leash or a collar would be to a dog.

    drama therapy???? no my friend. drama is last thing an unstable person like a convict needs.

      you have never met a convict a day in your life, that is why you generalize an entire group of people as unstable, and comment about what is healthy or unhealthy for them...don't kid yourself, mate
