The world needs more people who know how to make bread, and other bakery without all the preservatives and chemicals the big multinationals stuff into pre-packaged bakery.
Those look like our traditional Scottish morning rolls Dave, definitely look forward to attempting to make these. Like you my kitchen is always very cold in the winter months, so will wait for a day when I’m in full cooking mode to ensure the dough has the an ambient temperature for proving. Thanks 🙏 as always for sharing. 👨🏼🍳👍👌🍞
@ I had wondered about doing this Flora, but was concerned the heat might actually start cooking the dough rather than proving it. Thank you for sharing this advice 🙏, may I ask how hot was the HWB that you used?
@@davidmurphy816 I didn't check the temperature, probably 40+ degree warm water. I put an insulation pad underneath to prevent it from cooling down too quickly. Check if the dough is proofing after 15-20 minutes. If not, you may need to add more hot water. p.s. I just fill the HWB halfway.
I showed this channel to my young daughter... she wanted easy to floolow simple recipes.... She is much more confident in the kitchen and her toddlers love the food! and love helping too...
Looks great. I take it you used salted butter? I thought about sprinkling some sesame seeds on to this recipe. I put my oven at lowest in Winter if bitter outside!
Another lovely recipe. I’m a bread maker from way back ( began in my short lived back to the land hippie days 😂). These look delicious and I really think your simple clear instructions with no fuss will encourage those who are a bit hesitant to give bread baking a go. Well done again! And as always - thank you 😊
Mmmmm. The smell of fresh baked bread is the best smell ever. These look amazing and super simple. Thanks again for all you do to inspire more home cooks. And I can 100% guarantee that this is not going to last longer than regular bread....It may not even see it through to dinner.
Hi Dave, a great recipe thanks so much! Could we use this recipe to make a loaf? I like the fact you said it lasts longer than ordinary bread. Could you please tell us how long it lasts and how to store it please. Lisa ❤👍
Hi, Yes you could make a loaf with the same dough recipe.....they will stay fresh for about 3 days and after that heating them up a little will soften them if they go a little hard. Thanks.
This looks like a brilliantly easy recipe, especially for first-time bread makers - thanks. Anyone like me who has a kitchen that's normally too cold for yeast activation ... ask around your friends and neighbours if one of them has a heat mat or electric propagator you can borrow. They're used for beer fermentaion, to keep reptiles warm, or for seed germination, & use very low amounts of electricity (mine uses about 5 watts). They provide a perfect temperature of around 21 - 25 degC; much cheaper than switching on the CH must for a bowl of dough! Alternatively, do a slow overnight rise in your cold kitchen - and have fresh bread rolls for breakfast in the morning, usually a luxury you'd only get in a fancy hotel!
No nonsense instructions .. no personal horn blowing.. great recipe and slick presentation .. I've just joined .. greetings from South Africa but formerly from Jedburgh ower the border 😆
Just made these, I got 10 small ones from the dough. They are delicious, thank you for your recipes . No nonsense cooking and baking. This is what we need to pass on skills ❤
I made this dough when I made cinnamon rolls recently. While I loved the result, I find kneading the sticky dough really hard! Your rolls look so appetising, it’s making me want to try again 😂
Another brilliant video I think I will try this recipe for the weekend I am making soup now have your recipe to go along with it looking forward to your next video 😀
I've been having a bad time and your videos are calming to watch for me. I've always been curious about making bread, but it seemed hard. This makes me really want to try making it!
Oo thank you Dave for a beautiful looking bread bun recipe I will be making these with my mixer as my hands won’t take the kneading but if they are as good as your English tea cakes that I make regularly then I know they are going to be fabulous 👌Amanda xx
Fabulous 👍 my late mam made the best bread and she never weighed any of the ingredients. How she managed to feed 8 every day I'll never know ❤️thank you my friend
I made these last night and they were lovely. I ended up splitting the dough into 4 to for burger rolls although I found I needed to add a good bit more flour to make the dough anywhere near workable.
Im definitely going to make these for our Christmas table this year im confident enough to give them a try. Question..is it 170 degrees fan forced oven? Thanks so much
Great recipe, will be giving it a go. Just one question, how well do they freeze? Because i'm thinking making a big batch and don't want them to go to waste.
No fancy kitchen.. No fancy equipment.... No matchy matchy bowls etc... And the recipes are fabulous and do able....!
Exactly this. Love the honesty and simplicity of these videos. Excellent walk through and very easy to listen.
An everyday kitchen, with good healthy food made easy....
I was thinking the same thing, no shiny new pots and pans, love to see pots that have been used and loved for years
Many thanks....yes I like to keep it all very simple.

Try putting a hot water bottle under the dough (someone shared this trick in a comment). It worked perfectly for me. Hope you find it useful 👍

Right! I will turn on oven low, hear it up then turn off. When it is just warm will proof them inoven. I am envious of those with a proofing oven.
I used the unsalted butter....but a few seeds on top would be good. Thanks.

I made this dough when I made cinnamon rolls recently. While I loved the result, I find kneading the sticky dough really hard! Your rolls look so appetising, it’s making me want to try again 😂
Yes the dough can be a bit sticky to begin with.....plenty of flour on the hands works for me. Thanks.

I made these last night and they were lovely. I ended up splitting the dough into 4 to for burger rolls although I found I needed to add a good bit more flour to make the dough anywhere near workable.
Yes the dough is quite sticky I usually put plenty of flour on the board and my hands and the dough takes it up as I kneed it. Glad you enjoyed them.
As usual, thank you! When can we visit? Haha
Thanks very much....the door is always open.
Im definitely going to make these for our Christmas table this year im confident enough to give them a try. Question..is it 170 degrees fan forced oven? Thanks so much
Thanks. I use a conventional oven so a fan oven would be a little cooler.
Great recipe, will be giving it a go. Just one question, how well do they freeze? Because i'm thinking making a big batch and don't want them to go to waste.
Hi, They should freeze okay....I've never frozed any but it should be like any other bread. Thanks.
To much sugar for me can it be cut down ?
Yes you could cut down of the sugar but you will still need some to help activate the yeast. Thanks.
Last a few days?? Hahaha!
Yes mine got eaten much quicker than that. Thanks.
I used the recommended amount of flour but the dough was so sticky that I had to add a lot more flour
Yes it is a sticky dough.....I put quite a bit of flour on the board and my hands and repeat that until it becomes a smoother.
if yyou can afford it please use high welfare eggs not those horrible cages ones.
Yes you could use better quality eggs, but I am trying to make these recipes with as little cost as possible. But I understand your point. Thanks.
looks class
Many thanks.
