How To Quickly Judge Distance In Arma Reforger For Long Distance Sniping & Scope Zeroing

- UPDATE: US M21 With Art II Scope Zeroing Guide: • Arma Reforger Sniping ...
Arma Reforger has some amazing weapons, but being set in the 1980's you're not going to be getting laser range-finders or scopes with distance-finders built it.
In this beginners guide tutorial I show you simple ways to judge distance and zero the sights on your SVD or M21 Marksman Sniper Rifles.
The above info was believed to be correct as of Jan 2025.
Thanks, Rob.

The M21 scope uses the thick part of the reticle as the rangefinder. Line up the reticle with the top of the head and top of the legs and multiply the current magnification x100. So if you are zoomed in at 5x and the enemy lines up with the reticle, they're about 500m away. There is an explanation in the field manual.
Brilliant
What if they are farther away than 9.0 magnification? Also where is it in the field manual
This mil-sim is so realistic, scalespeeder didn't shoot a single shot in this video because of course he would have had to clean the weapon afterwards
Ha, almost true, I would have fired, missed and been shot by the NPC AIs!
this is the best explanation i've seen on this. thank you!
The info on the Dragunov is invaluable...I never knew this. Thanks man!
Really good to see your Arma Reforger vids . . .
Way back when you were my goto channel when I set up a dayz server. I used your channel to learn the ins and outs and can't thank you enough. I am looking forward to building an armaRF channel soon and will deffo be using your channel again. Thanks in advance
Good info! You k ow I have been playing Arma since Flashpoint and lol never new that about the SVD. Thank you.
I agree on russian scope.
A good thing to remember is a diagonal of a square is 1.4 so if looking at map and its 2 squares diagonally is like close to 300 metres not 200 metres. If you want to be better on target.
Doesn't the protractor on the map has 100 metre measurements? You can rotate the protractor too. Thanks for video.
At 9:00 you are zoomed at 50m per square on the map. so that means about 50-75 m from the target. But other than that great video.
Same for the RPG optic. Once you know hownit works, its pretty easy to hit even far away vehicles
Also fun fact depending on how accurate they are to real life if your zeroed 300m from 25m out then 300m down should hit center mass
Approximate standing man size vs distance guide:
100m = 17 millirads (1.7 numbered segments on the binos)
150m = 11 millirads
200m = 8.5 millirads
250m = 7 millirads
300m = 6 millirads
350m = 5 millirads (1 small marked interval on the binos)
400m = 4 millirads
500m = 3.5 millirads
600m = 3 millirads
700m = 2.5 millirads
850m = 2 millirads
1100m = 1.5 millirads
(nb. You can measure any object whose size you know by calculating real size x 1000, then dividing that by the number of millirads it appears to be in your scope. The list above is based on a 1.7m target and is rounded for convenience and speed.)
Arma Reforger has made it wrong with the distance. Those guys in the camp at 5.13 in the video would be 400-500 meters in real life. At 3.27 they are at about 250 meters. I know this very well. I am a hunter and an outdoorsman. Most game developers cannot calculate distance correctly in games.
