Been to Holston and Abingdon to visit. Beautiful country!! My Goff ancestors came from there. Served in the Civil War, came to IL 1866. Good, hard working people with good values and worshipped God. What we need to get back to today

My family has a cemetery in Scott county called Vicars cemetery... Late 1700's. I am making the trip this April to check it out.

I live on what was the great wagon rd. Can follow it a couple miles into Roanoke. Large sections are still just woods. You can see what they saw.

Southwest VA is where several generations of my family lived. Love going back!
The tavern @ !:33 is in Abingdon. Very old, I think from 1780s. We had a delicious dinner there about 25 years ago. Wonder if still open?
    Thanks for video!

I'm tinkled that someone actually knows the view and can put a name to it - I shot it and knew but your the first to call it by name - we love SWVA

Let’s not talk about enslaved people in the same romanticizing tone as the rest of the video 🥴

They could not afford slaves if they wanted...... Most came over as indentured servants.
