Hot take: While I do not harbor any ill will towards the LGBTQ+ community in particular, I do not consider myself a "straight ally". It implies that straights and LGBTQ+ people are somehow enemies, and that I'm one of the "good ones". A bit like the saying "you're a credit to your race". I suppose I just find the label superfluous, demeaning, and counterproductive. The way I see it, people are just people. I will judge them not by traits, but by actions.
if you're wondering where nonbinary people fit: nonbinary people are included in every sexuality 💖 & they are included under the trans umbrella. i hope everyone reading this has a great day
There is a nonbinary flag as well for those who want a specific one! It has 4 horizontal stripes colored yellow, white, purple and black in order from top to bottom! However your statements remain absolutely correct 👍

@@cpukabuto2132 It's important for everyone who wants to stand up for equality to do so so that we have as many voices as possible standing against discrimination and reassuring people who are oppressed. We should be grateful for them when there are so many people out there who discriminate against others.
Fun fact: the rainbow flag actually represents the whole LGBTQ+ community as a whole, the actual gay flag looks like the lesbian flag but in shades of blue.

That's a very stupid reason. Straight ppl may hate the gay flag because it doesn't include straight ppl. That's not their problem. Exclusivity is not a direct action of discrimination, but it is a direct act of survival.

I'm a lesbian who calls themselves gay and likes the rainbow flag as representation, I've always known that flag as the gay flag for all gays and love it. The rainbow flag makes me feel good and I call myself what I like. You can't just split it off in to each sex exclusively anyway. I am not confused, I am being and saying what makes me feel happy. We don't need to be too overly specific
I’m bi, and I call myself gay. I know many lesbians use the term gay to describe themselves, it’s fine, they can use the flag or word that they identify with. The rainbow flag is not the gay flag actually, there is a man loving men flag.

Wait... would nonbinary fit into intersex? I don’t know much about the intersex part of this community, so this is a genuene question, I’m not trying to be rude...
1:14 I agree mostly with this one, the rainbow represents the entire LGBTQIA+ community as whole, but sometimes more specifically gay men (mlm or man loving man). Homosexual men do have their one pride flag now, and it is similar to the lesbian flag but with greens and blues, if you want to find this flag I recommend googling “mlm flag”. 1:49 I mostly agree with this too, although being lesbian does not mean just a woman who is attracted to other woman. Lesbianism is when a non-man is attracted to another non-man. Lesbians can be demigirls, genderfluid and sometimes non-binary (nblw). 2:00 First of all, it’s actually pink, purple and blue, not red. Second of all, bisexuals do not have to be a man or a woman who love men and women. Bisexuals can be people of any gender (female, male, non-binary, ect.) who are attracted to two genders, hence the prefix “bi”. Bisexuality is usually someone who is attracted to men and women, but not always, they are attracted to two genders. These two genders can be women and non-binary people, men and genderfluid people, man and women, ect. 2:30 Transgender is an umbrella term, just like the term “homosexual”. Homosexuality isn’t just gay and lesbian people, it’s an umbrella term that describes people who don’t identify as straight. This includes bisexuals, pansexuals, lesbians, and anything that isn’t heterosexual. Transgender also has mini labels too, but the main definition of transgender is someone who transitions from one gender to another. Usually people associate transgenderism with women transitioning to men and men transitioning to women, but this is not the case. The transgender umbrella consists of women transitioning to non-binary, men transitioning to demiboys, women transitioning to men and so much more. But yes, ftm (female to male) and mtf (male to female) people are most commonly referred to as transgender. (PS, the reasoning behind the colours of the trans flag is that they’ve transitioned. Transitioning is kind of like rebirthing as a new gender, so that’s why they chose baby pink and baby blue.) 2:43 Pansexuality is genderblindness. Being genderblind is to not see a difference in one’s gender. Pansexuals are people of any gender who are attracted to all genders, regardless of gender identity or pronouns. (Also I’m sure that it was unintentional, but you classed transgenders as different to regular men and women by accident. Transgender women are women and transgender men are men, that’s that.) 3:17 Intersexuality is when someone does not show or shows a mixture of femininity and masculinity, or being _physically_ androgynous. If one is born with an assigned gender but does not identify as any gender now, they may be non-binary or agender. 3:45 Completely agree here, asexuality is the lack of _sexual_ attraction. It does not mean they cannot have romantic relationships, otherwise they would be considered aromantic, which is the lack of romantic attraction. *(I’m not going to discuss the “tribes” because some find it offensive, because it’s grouping people based on stereotypes.)* 12:52 Heterosexuality is not apart of the LGBTQIA+ community. We appreciate allies and we love straight people but if you are straight, cisgender and not at all in relation to the LGBTQIA+ community, the you simply aren’t LGBTQIA+. Heterosexuals don’t necessarily have a flag, but that’s because, believe it or not, they aren’t necessarily oppressed either. If you aren’t LGBTQIA+ and you’re feeling like we’re leaving you out of our community, then too bad, you guys kinda killed us for existing for years and our suicide rates are far higher than yours in today’s world.
I agree and was looking for this comment because I was bothered that the video was getting so many definitions wrong, but bisexuality isn’t limited to two genders. As a bisexual you can be attracted to two or more genders :)
"They say one in every 4 people are gay/ LGBTQ+. " Me remembering that I have 3 friends "that's so not true all my friends are straight!" Me remembering "oh never mind it's me, I forgot. I'm the one in 4 people."
I have three friends too but my best girl friend and I are the gay ones. ( Well she is bi and I’m ase , our other two friends are Male and straight (?) )
Actually, there's another gay pride flag because the rainbow flag is used for the lgbtqiap+ community in general. I think its a bit like the lesbian pride flag but with blues and greens.

The kink at pride discourse has been furious lately and it’s so nice to see the middle ground you present here. They get displayed and mentioned because they certainly do have a place at pride as a general movement, but not described thoroughly so as to be more accessible.

Second, when and if you need it, we have an entire playlist on our channel to help you come out, help prepare you for what might happen, help prepare you for things after you come out which you might not think about right now, and more. We will be adding a lot of episodes to this playlist within the next month because we make a lot of coming out advice videos during Pride Month but for now, I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need specific advice though, please ask. And always know that there is no deadline or rush to come out if you don't feel it's safe to come out right now. No matter what, you will always be loved and accepted by the entire LGBTQ community so you're not alone. We will be right by your side. It can be hard and pretty awkward to talk about sexuality with your parents, so more power to you! I came out as a polyamorous pansexual (or polypan) to my family about a month ago. They were cool with it, but they had to ask me what that meant (I come from a heteronormative island community. Not necessarily homophobic but they said the attitude to sexualities has improved in the past 20 or so years). But yeah, my parents always said they’d accept me no matter how I’d live or whom I’d love.
im so happy you have explained asexuality properly, for the longest time people have rejected me for my sexuality and sayinf "asexuality isnt valid and its the worst.
Why in the world would any sexuality not be valid? For a starters, anyone who doesn’t think another sexuality isn’t valid besides their own - more than likely they aren’t too comfortable in their own sexuality and they’re jealous that you are. That’s number one. Two, of course you’re valid and loved. I wish you had learned about intersex before you gave a definition of it. You seem to misunderstand it quite a bit. The way someone talks can't make them intersex. An intersex condition (there are several different) can make you intersex. Like an androgen insensitivity or an irregularity of the genitalia and/or sex chromosomes etc. It seemed like you were more interpreting it as gender nonbinary with the possibility of an anatomical irregularity. Thank you for including the community and flag, but this video seems to lean educational and what you said seems misleading. I have no doubt your intentions were pure. This could just cause some confusion among those who adopt your definition as fact and don't have that reflected in reality. I hope you don't take this as criticism. Education about LGBT+ matters is important and your video appears to be a good resource, overall. (I'm not offended or anything either. I'm not even inter myself, as far as I know.) This is my first visit to your channel. I'll make sure to check what other content you have created on here. Best of wishes and happy pride from a trans guy.
Ty for this. I’m not intersex either, but yeah it’s more about organs/genitalia or chromosomes. Like you could be intersex, have a vagina but also have male reproductive organs on the inside of you.
I’m not sure if this is what he meant, but for the way you speak, was it: A person born male but has a feminine voice..? (As an example) I think that’s what he was trying to say
Michael Mell even if that's what he meant, it's still and incorrect definition. Intersex people literally have physical characteristics that cause them to not have a fully male or fully female body. These characteristics can include high levels of testosterone in a woman/estrogen in a man and mismatched reproductive organs, like having a vagina but some male reproductive organs inside their body. There are probably many other variations of intersex people, but it has nothing to do with how you present yourself and does not guarantee what gender you identify as
I see my asexual flag and that makes me so happy 🥰 (so many people forget that we exist). The explanation was really good, too - thank you for clarifying that asexual ≠ aromantic!!!!
well, I'm bi and I'm not out yet, but I act like a completly straight girl: long hair, no cuffed jeans, no converse shoes, no leather/jeans jackets, never wore shorts, no signs of bisexuality in my room...
I don't think that it's necessary for bi persons to do this or have that (I'm bi too, and it doesn't disturb me or smth). You don't identify yourself bi considering you cuff your jeans, but that you're able to fall in love with men and women... And this stuff like shoes oder jackets is nice... But when you feel yourself better without or don't think to do/have this, it's also OK and nobody can say that you're not bi. (I'm sry for my English, I'm German)
I’m so glad there’s an ally flag! As a straight person, I want friends and people in general to know that I support them no matter what! Thank you for this video. It helped me understand all the pride flags that I’ve seen and not understood ❤️
Bixesual means you're attracted to both men and women. It doesn't technically matter if that's romantically or sexually...but that's getting VERY technical. I say define yourself as whatever you want to define yourself as. If you're looking for a definition, bisexual is the easiest way other people would be able to understand what you like.
Yeah it's complicated because there are certain things like biromantic but asexual where you aren't sexually attracted to either but you are romantically attracted to both. There is also the opposite where you are bisexual but aromantic. I guess it would probably bisexual homoromantic (I'm not sure if that's the correct terminology) but you define yourself in whatever way you see fit and if calling yourself bi makes sense then that's fine. Sexuality is fluid and as long as you feel comfortable with what you identify with nobody should tell you you're wrong ❤️
I am actually a girl who's attracted to girl and boy romantically but just girl Sexually, I still identify as bi(romantic) so for me we don't care If it's romantic or sexual, just describe yourself with the word you feel good with ❤️
It sounds like you’re perioriented (your romantic and sexual orientations aren’t the same). It’s most commonly understood in terms of asexuality or aromanticism (for example, I’m aromantic bisexual), but it’s by no means exclusive to those identities. It sounds like you’re gynoromantic (that’s attraction to women; you might prefer homo- or heteroromantic, depending on your own gender, which I don’t want to assume) bisexual. My best friend is the same way.
Oh hey dont feel left out there arent many mainstream terms for nonbinary pple but for some gender neutral terms are: androphilic (attraction to men) and gynephilic (attraction to women) that's all I could find so yeah!
I didn’t know there were so many flags and identifications, I’m glad this popped up in my recommended to finally learn what they all mean and what people mean when they say what they identify as
Honestly, I'm confused about my sexuality. I know for a fact I am NOT straight but I don't show any sexual feelings which makes me think I'm Asexual. I am also scared to come out due to my half homophobic brother and my transphobic mother.
Hey look, I understand. I'm an asexual too. And it took so long to realize it. I went from, "oh I like people and relationships" to "I don't like sexual relationships". It's hard, especially cause on tv there's lesbian, gay, and trans people all over, and fans won't let there be one ace person. So it's hard to already relate to something or someone. But I promise, your sexual life(or lack thereof) isn't their problem. If they don't accept you, whatever man, you don't have to do anything that you're not interested in! And I full accept and support your journey!
Im confused about my sexuality i think im bi some times when i see a woman i find them attractive but i also dont want sexual relationships helppp im so confused
I dont think ppl know how happy it feels when you see a pride flag somewhere, i fell very excepted and good when i see someone with a pride fLag pn their porch or window or something :)
Makes me so sad to know so many young people are treated badly just for who they love. When my daughter told me she was gay she was really worried I would be upset or something but I said as long as she's happy and whoever she's with is nice to her that's all I cared about❤🧡💛💚💙💜
They are not sexually attracted to people. Some do partake in the act and some actually enjoy it! And unless they are aromantic (not romantically attracted) they can have healthy and long lasting romantic relationships!

I'm really sorry if this comes off as offensive, but a lot of people I know say that aromatics are sorta like asexuals, but just with romance, and I was wondering if they also had their own flag, or if they shared yours?
I am a straight ally but I would never consider for a moment that we need a flag, nor have I ever felt excluded for not having a specific flag aimed at me. I always just flew the more common rainbow flag for gay men. Didn't even know there were all of these different flags. I honestly thought the rainbow just represented all people of all stripes and colours. Not to say that this doesn't make sense, but I just didn't know all of this. Very informative, thank you... Also, do I actually have to use the straight ally flag? I don't want to have to seek that out, I am lazy. Is it cool if I continue to fly the same flag? I don't care if people make the assumption that I am homosexual, so that's my plan but I guess I should ask what is preferred by the people that I am supposed to be an ally of.

While I do not harbor any ill will towards the LGBTQ+ community in particular, I do not consider myself a "straight ally".

I agree mostly with this one, the rainbow represents the entire LGBTQIA+ community as whole, but sometimes more specifically gay men (mlm or man loving man). Homosexual men do have their one pride flag now, and it is similar to the lesbian flag but with greens and blues, if you want to find this flag I recommend googling “mlm flag”.
1:49
I mostly agree with this too, although being lesbian does not mean just a woman who is attracted to other woman. Lesbianism is when a non-man is attracted to another non-man. Lesbians can be demigirls, genderfluid and sometimes non-binary (nblw).
2:00
First of all, it’s actually pink, purple and blue, not red.
2:30
Transgender is an umbrella term, just like the term “homosexual”.
Transitioning is kind of like rebirthing as a new gender, so that’s why they chose baby pink and baby blue.)
2:43
Pansexuality is genderblindness. Being genderblind is to not see a difference in one’s gender. Pansexuals are people of any gender who are attracted to all genders, regardless of gender identity or pronouns. (Also I’m sure that it was unintentional, but you classed transgenders as different to regular men and women by accident. Transgender women are women and transgender men are men, that’s that.)
3:17
Intersexuality is when someone does not show or shows a mixture of femininity and masculinity, or being _physically_ androgynous. If one is born with an assigned gender but does not identify as any gender now, they may be non-binary or agender.
3:45
Completely agree here, asexuality is the lack of _sexual_ attraction. It does not mean they cannot have romantic relationships, otherwise they would be considered aromantic, which is the lack of romantic attraction.
*(I’m not going to discuss the “tribes” because some find it offensive, because it’s grouping people based on stereotypes.)*
12:52
Heterosexuality is not apart of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Me remembering that I have 3 friends "that's so not true all my friends are straight!"
Me remembering "oh never mind it's me, I forgot. I'm the one in 4 people."

I’m not sure if this is what he meant, but for the way you speak, was it:
A person born male but has a feminine voice..? (As an example)
I think that’s what he was trying to say
Michael Mell even if that's what he meant, it's still and incorrect definition. Intersex people literally have physical characteristics that cause them to not have a fully male or fully female body. These characteristics can include high levels of testosterone in a woman/estrogen in a man and mismatched reproductive organs, like having a vagina but some male reproductive organs inside their body. There are probably many other variations of intersex people, but it has nothing to do with how you present yourself and does not guarantee what gender you identify as
No need to write a paragraph, just get to the point.
I'm not intersex either so I would've never known, so thanks for that
I see my asexual flag and that makes me so happy 🥰 (so many people forget that we exist). The explanation was really good, too - thank you for clarifying that asexual ≠ aromantic!!!!
As an ace person myself, i'm glad to see ace representation
Apparently the straight flag (NOT THE ALLY FLAG) was made to mock the LGBTQ :'>
Yes it was which is why we don't suggest using it. The ally flag is much, much better.
What? Why didn't they make it cooler then?
@@freakyferret8308 homophobes aren't creative :(
@@PoweredByRainbows some lgbt groups don't allow the use of the ally flag either it just depends on where you live tbh.
I'm shocked the straight flag is just black and white 😂
the drag flag gives me anxiety, because it isn't centered right, and the bird isn't symmetric.
OMG I JUST REALISED HAHSJWBERUDUDUDJJDDJDIDICICICJCJFD
AHHHHHHH NO
Yep same but drag is really cool
well, I'm bi and I'm not out yet, but I act like a completly straight girl: long hair, no cuffed jeans, no converse shoes, no leather/jeans jackets, never wore shorts, no signs of bisexuality in my room...
(I'm sry for my English, I'm German)
ill cuff my jeans for you ✊😔
I’m bi and I don’t wear that stuff
Remember, you don’t need to fit into the stereotypes to be valid :>
@@dyingrat2439 I know, but the lesbians think I'm straight 🥺
I’m so glad there’s an ally flag! As a straight person, I want friends and people in general to know that I support them no matter what!
Thank you for this video. It helped me understand all the pride flags that I’ve seen and not understood ❤️

oTHER THAN SIBLINGS-
Straights and gays be like: “D or P?”
Bisexuals: “Why not both?”
I am now mostly gayy but I still like women so I'm fully bisexual
Sexuality is fluid and as long as you feel comfortable with what you identify with nobody should tell you you're wrong ❤️
yes
"So how many flags do you have?"

I never knew about most of these--
-and I feel kinda left out as a agender person, but it's fine-
Oh hey dont feel left out there arent many mainstream terms for nonbinary pple but for some gender neutral terms are: androphilic (attraction to men) and gynephilic (attraction to women) that's all I could find so yeah!
I love how to fat pride flag is basically Neapolitan ice cream.
Not gonna lie, didn't even notice that but that's pretty cool!
I can’t unsee it now.
Omg! I noticed that. It made me hungry.
I saw it right away lol
I need that flag tho 😂

My flag 🏳️🌈 (im lesbian but they dont have all the colors as emojis )
Why have they not made emojis for all the pride flags yet? They should definitely do that.
🧡💖🤍💖❤
Jaden Fedorchak why don’t they make it so that you can hold down the flag to get all the flags, kinda like how they did in the sims
They need tp make mroe flag emojis 🏳️🌈 its nice that they have this one buy they need more
eventually most platforms might get the trans flag as an emoji, but i don't know much about the others sadly
And I full accept and support your journey!
same I think I’m bi but I like women more then men??? ahhhh help me lol

My parents probably don’t even know anything about LGBTQ+
Im confused about my sexuality i think im bi some times when i see a woman i find them attractive but i also dont want sexual relationships helppp im so confused

@@BrownieBatterKing what? are you referring to polyamory? polysexual means you are attracting to more or one gender.
Makes me so sad to know so many young people are treated badly just for who they love. When my daughter told me she was gay she was really worried I would be upset or something but I said as long as she's happy and whoever she's with is nice to her that's all I cared about❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Hope everyone had an incredible pride month last month
Bisexuals: we are attracted to both man and/or woman
Me:OK
Pansexuals: we are attracted to all genders and sexes
Me: well that just sounds like bisexuals but with extra steps
(Note this is just a joke and I mean no offence to either groups, I am actually pan myself)
I like that joke. And I like that we can laugh at ourselves in our community.
I mean... it's kinda true, lol!
@@Somoutogomea no, it's not true. Bisexual actually means somebody who is attracted to more than one gender. Pansexual means you can love someone without having a type or preference for gender. A/I you don't really care who they are. Their personality is what matters most, and physical looks aren't important.
Yes lol! I’m Bi and this made me laugh inside :•D

A lesbian is also defined as women who love women and feminine presenting non-binary people (like demi-girls)
I thought Demi was when you need a strong bond to be attracted sexually to someone?
@@keylimetea That'd be demisexual
@@keylimeteathat is called demi sexual. I'm talking about demi-girls. People that identify as female, but not fully. So they either have a mix of strongly female and a little bit of male, strongly female and a little bit of agender or half and half with agender. (Correct me if I missed anything)

as asexual it feels really nice to be included as most of the time we are overlooked of forgotten and thank you for explaining that we can have relationships . weather by choice or not. it feels great to be represented thank you
Yes, we have been left out of many things. It's validating to find your own representation in these little videos on youtube!
aces dont get a lot of representation its sad
I'm really sorry if this comes off as offensive, but a lot of people I know say that aromatics are sorta like asexuals, but just with romance, and I was wondering if they also had their own flag, or if they shared yours?
@@InternalChickens I searched it up and found that aromatics have their own flag its green, they dont share it with the asexual flag
@@captaingoodbye5347 Ah, okay, thanks!
I’m pan and trans ftm
i has confusion
@ChartreuseArchieve They are pansexual or panromantic (not sure) and they are transgender from female to male so they were AFAB (assigned female at birth) and they transitioned to male
