    *Great reel, **enjoyable.fishing** recommend very smooth and I love that you can change from left hand to right hand so easily. Gave it a 4 on durability because I haven’t had it long enough to rate it. Doing good so far.*

    I just bought the UL combo. Haven't found any reviews at all on the Legalis rods, but so far I like it! Just what I was looking for. The UL is quite well balanced. The combo is just under $100.

    These Daiwa Lt reels are great... Legalis, or Exceler... feels light but solid with 6 to 6.5 mL rods... just get the 2500 models... its smaller/ lighter than Stradic 2500... perfect for live minnows, b. garland swim'r, panther martin spinner #4, & 1/2 oz rattles... catch plenty crappies & small bass...

      I actually liked this reel so much I did buy it also in 2000 and 2500 sizes. I have the 2500 on my ML 6'6" and it's perfect.

      @@fdsaffff don't buy this reel for ocean, or beach... it will rust eventually... use size 2500 for mainly trout fishing rivers, & crappie fishing with 4 pound line... perfect weight not bulky & very solid with 6ft rod...

      @@clutchtwenty2213 I prefer a reel that can be used in fresh and salt water. which one for that? preferrably light.

    Slow day but at least you got a couple. Man lol I believe the most expensive set up I have totals about 40 dollars. One day I am going to splurge on a nice set up. It has to be fun to fish down there.

      Thanks for watching. I have always used to cheap Walmart stuff my entire life, but then a couple months ago I decided to try some of the more expensive stuff. I've gotta say there is a noticeable difference. I'm not sure if I'll catch more or bigger fish, but it makes fishing more enjoyable.

    Nice review. How do you go about setting your drag? I've learned that it should be set for 20-30 percent of the fishing line rating. So, for example, 4 lb test line should be set for 1 lb of drag. I have seen UA-camrs actually use a fish scale to set the the drag by pulling on the line and waiting for 1 lb of pull on the weight scale instrument (if using 4 lb test) and then set the drag accordingly. OR . . . do you just use your own judgement when setting the drag.
    Also, what is your view of fishing line conditioner that is sprayed on the line when spooling it? Do you use it? Thanks in advance.

    • @TheFishingNomad
      @TheFishingNomad  2 роки тому +1

      I just use my judgement. I suppose if I bought one of those drag checkers I could figure out exactly what my drag is set at, but that seems like a lot of work for a minimal return.
      Also, I've never used those conditioners so I can't say I have an opinion about them either way.

    It can be used for saltwater???

    • @TheFishingNomad
      @TheFishingNomad  3 роки тому

      Yes and no. It'll be fine for saltwater in the short term and will have a longer life if you clean it properly after each trip, but it's not designed for saltwater. This reel doesn't have any seals so salt water and even just the salty air will get into the reel and cause corrosion. While it'll be fine for a few trips, I wouldn't use this as a saltwater reel in the long term.

    • @TheFishingNomad
      @TheFishingNomad  3 роки тому

      $60-70 depending on where you get it from. I was able to find some for $50 from Aliexpress. Don't think you'll be able to beat that.

      @@TheFishingNomad I hear the 2500 is still light and can be used for UL applications. Do you find this true or do you find the 1000 size better? I typically like larger size reels if I can because they don't get the line caught up in them as easy as the smaller spools.

    • @TheFishingNomad
      @TheFishingNomad  3 роки тому

      @@casey10614 Yes I'd say you can use it as an ultralight. I currently have it spooled with 6# mono and use it on my ML 6'6" rod. I wouldn't feel too comfortable with it on a M 7' rod for example. I think it's a good in between reel that bridges the gap between UL and M, but I do think you can use it as an UL if you prefer larger reels.
