Wow, never seen 'fake vintage' stuff look so convincing - these are some great shots!
Never liked the hard light look but this video changed my mind.
Gotta say, I dig that you're allowing us to see how you communicate with the model during the shoot. It's real and appreciated. 🙏
Great capture. I see you minus 1 Flash exposure compensation and What about Camera Exposure compensation do you used?
You're the only channel on UA-cam that gives me inspiration to keep shooting. Thanks for sharing brother!
can you share the values you used for taking these pics? amazing results!
follow
the values aren't important, it's the concept. You're not gonna plug that guy's settings in and run around pumping out bangers. You gotta get a better understanding of light and learn that it's all relative
I don’t need a flash - but I’m going comment because this channel kicks a$$
you're great at directing models!!! glad I found your channel, haven't found very many photographers I really resonate with on youtube.
Thanks for an actual tutorial! refreshing to see a photographer actually show stuff instead of play generic music while shooting and adding 15 seconds of non useful info at the end
Hahaha 🙏🏽🙏🏽 I agree tho a lot of UA-cam has become cookie cutter info
The trick that changed on camera flash for me is when I figured out (or was told) that shutter speed doesn't matter for the flash (respecting sync speed). So you can over or under expose the background by changing the shutter speed and your subject's exposure won't change.
Yup yup!!!
@@cammackey did you give away the flash already?
@@chrisj0 yup yup chose a winner. I’m in Nashville working rn though so won’t be shipping it out for like a week
Since you are using head on flash, what is the difference between using a Speedlite and the built in flash? Your images look similar to what I'm getting when using the built in flash.
No difference really except an external flash will most likely give you more output and faster cycle times and possibly more overall spread
@@cammackey awesome, thanks for the tips!
This has to be one of the best channels on such matters! Any advice on developing and printing services for film most welcome. Great images!
I would prefer doing this type of messaging on a 35mm point and shoot film camera. Does all the work for you, less time, less headache!! #yashicaT4 #olympusmju #contax t2 or an #contaxg1
I rarely use my V1 for shots like these, most on wedding shots and other events, but now I'm more curious about my flash.
I tried once to shoot with direct flash and I was surprised by the result but never tried again. I like that style even If the editing is a lil bit tricky.
I'm glad I came across this video by accident, now I'm more interested to experiment.
Great video. Can you step me through how you approach this (I'm a newb)? Do you, when you first step inside a new environment like this laundromat, you first take a test shot on full Auto mode without flash, then switch to full-Manual and use the settings the camera used in Auto mode , and then turn Shutter speed down a bit because you want to underexpose the background/ambient (I'm assuming it needs to be Full manual at this point else the camera will want to compensate by upping the ISO thus your background is no longer underexposed as desired) , then you flip on the flash, and adjust its level as necessary? (if that's accurate) 2nd question, there's no use for the Exposure Compensation dial here, right? Thanks.
Great job man!
yo
My flash died on me about a year ago and I've been meaning to replace it, this would be perfect!
Entiendo que se busque un look. Pero si la luz sale del mismo punto en que se hace la foto, queda plana. Sin volumen. ¿Te suena de algo la palabra strobist?
Unfortunately it didn't work for me, I using Godax tt685 and 85 1.8
Like the retro feel of the one on camera flash, has that caught in the moment look. Great video Cam, thanks.
I love your directing style, I'm teaching myself to direct models because I've been more of a landscape photographer before.
omg that's exactly what I've been looking for
Great video, just discovered channel! Very cool stuff
as usual the hardest part is finding fucking good models like this in 2023 🙄
Hey can you tell me what your camera settings are on. I’ve watched the video a few times and you only have flash settings but I need to know what the camera was set to
Can you use high speed sync with this combo R5/V1? Thanks.
This guy is awesome! Follow him!
I've got my flash sitting at home, used it once or twice... can't really find the usage for it in London, if it's not interior events and such...
Great content! How i wasnt subscribel already? Well now i am!
Hey congratulation on winning your case agents Amber Heard bro
Do you have a video, or can you make a video showing how you edit these photos to get the vintage look?
Can you share how to color the photos in this video? they are so beautiful and feel like a movie
i fucking love you and your channel, ur the best no cap! keep going
What settings is your setup on your camera for as like shutter and iso
Replayed 5 times bro. Too good 💠 …and i’m not even after the giveaway flash 📸
Damn thank you 😢🤘🏽🙏🏽
Love your content, your color pallete is always inspiring.
Maybe luck will be on my side )
I would love to know what your settings were during this shoot
never tried flash photography before !
I’ve always shot only natural light so a flash would be great to change up my style! Thanks for the great content!
Have u used a filter?? Wich one??
Looks so good when it’s done intentionally and done like this! You’ve got me thinking 🤔👍
Awesome BTS Cam, Keep it up man!
Nothing worse than the constant “X brand sent me this camera” humble brags..
If you really dig deep within yourself, that’s a major projection that is driven by something.. to even mention that. It’s weird.
I personally try to be transparent with everything. Like even in my personal life. Between business and girls haha I’m honest to a fault. Someone could say the kindest things or the rudest things.. none of it fazes me. I’m just all about my personal truths.
Hey , which lens or mm was used for the 5:59 shoot?
What should my camera settings be at?
You’re so good at what you do
3:51 Reversed focus is actually high level, I've come to love it!
4:12 "Now, where did I put that alcohol accessory for situations like this?"
Sick channel!
Hahaha yes I think some props might of helped!! She’s still a bit fresh of a model, she’s gotten a lot better after our first shoot!
@@cammackey She's doing great, you're lucky to have her (and she you)!
One of the best on camera direct flash tutorial!! Everything's spot on!!
Recently discovered your channel. Such great info! I'll keep watching, learning and shooting as much as possible! Thank you!
Thank you for sticking around 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Yooo I am a big fan CamMacky…following you on IG and so excited I see you have bts on UA-cam. Keep inspiring my guy!111
i don't deserve this flash for my xt3
This is the gold standard of communicating with a model
These photos came out great, definitely going to try getting this look in ny photos
Shooting portrait direct flash you need a bracket to centre it above the lens otherwise it looks bad. Landscape is correct though.
Bad according to what rule of opinion?
Do you have any presets for this?
learned a lot about speedlights in this. Wonderful stuff. Thanks and keep the great content coming.
Randomizor, choose me! I need a Godox flash!
Your videos are just dope 💯🤙🏾
Can't get enough of your content. It's like from another planet. Love these days when I discover authentic gems like these. And your music is badass too.
Thank you thank you bro 🙏🏽🤘🏽🙏🏽
Years trying tonget this look! thanks!
Haven’t really experimented with flash, so hopefully this’ll change that! Spicy content as always 👌🏽
Killin the game brotha!!!!!
"Spin!" Nice tutorial
Can you do that with just an iphone ?
Could always use moar flashes
some fooly cooly vibes. when directing i dont recomend telling the models or actors your doing something weird with there chin because now there thinking about there chin. but your rocking it keeping there mind off placement and more end result
With professional models it’s different. You can be a little more forward. But def with anyone else it’s more of a mind game to get them relaxed. I converse a lot before slowly introducing a camera
Warp stabilizer left the chat
my comment for the flash cheers
I think you know what you doing
Vintage style is created by using similar stuff to what was available: 24mm, 35mm, on camera flash, poses, colors, places, clothes, heheheheh great tips :D
Have you ever tryed that small fuji flash EF-X20 ??
I have not! It looks nice and compact tho! Wish Godox or canon would maybe one like that
Very nice photos!!! You said the flash exposure was -1.0EV. And you said the background needs also to be underexposed a bit so the camera exposure was also around -1.0EV? Anyway, great photos and great model!
What did u shoot the video on?
Great vid man. I’m looking to get my first flash. I’m a street photographer using the R5. What would you suggest as a good compact flash for street on the R5? Thanks.
You left the protective sticky on. Me too ;)
Haha I’m so hard on gear so protection never hurts
and then there was light 😏
How do I get presets for this shoot?❤️❤️❤️
I haven’t released these ones yet!
@@cammackey Really looking forward to
Would love to see the how to edit or get presets for these too! Fab pics
@@cammackey Can a Fuji camera achieve this effect?
Dope video ! Thank you
Amazing. Great advertisement for the flash, because everybody is shooting this over-exposed film style nowadays.
I don't have so I want one!
2:36 "typical model" lmao
Cool!
digging the retro edit a lot. I know it's not fair but would be awesome to have some X100V in between comparison with the onboard flash for this photoshoot also ;)
It’s coming ;)
Just found your channel recently, very instructive. Thanks.
I’m here for the flash lol
Sweet, I remember developing film in a dark room back in the day
you convinced me to buy this flash soon...nice studio lighting too,sub done..
This is a comment
This is sooo amazing! What iso do you suggest one shoots on. Lower iso's or higher number iso's like 800, 1600, etc?
Great video Cam!
I have fuji camera)
Did you get a permit for that photoshoot in that beautiful, upper-crust establishment, sir? LOL great job as always, bro. 👌
The flash would do
Yo love the videos !
Had been a fan of your Instagram but just now found out you have UA-cam and all these BTS on your photos... I'm bingin'...
I want that flash!!!
Fire tips thanks
Me please🙋🏻♂️
Nice. Here for it.
