I just had my first few steps of canter and I stopped bc I was afraid of going too fast and not having control. I’m concerned that I’ll bounce out of saddle. What can I do to help me feel more in control as I start?
Hi Rhea! Definitely we shouldn't push the horse. I think at least in the beginning it's best to just let the horse move our hips. Of course we can influence the horse's movement with the movement of our hips and pelvis, but what often happens when riders try to "ride forward with the seat", is that they end up pushing too much and only disturbing the horse.
Thank you! I used to scoop the canter with my bum and it felt disconnected. I felt like I was disturbing the horse. Moving forward, I will let the horse move my hips and on down beat push knee forward and down. Great content! :)
@@rheasingh1376 Yes you definitely want to sit as still as possible, while still following the horse's movement😊 Thank you, I' m glad you enjoy my content🙏

Convenient
Do we let the horse move our hips? Or do we have to push the horse with our bum?
