- This is the best fun car under 10K. On today's adventure, Pasha and I fly out to Kansas to pick up a car that I think many of you are going to be excited for. This car is a HUGE throw back car on the channel. Only a few of you guys will remember when my channel was called "Yonny Nolls" and I had a red version of this car. I am extremely excited to own this car, and I hope you guys are ready for some beast content.

Congrats man. The FG2 2006 Civic Si was the one and only time I pre-ordered a brand new car! I was there when it was delivered to the dealership on the semi truck, with just 2 other cars (I think accords) i watched the entire pdi process and I even got to peal off the white delivery plastic off the hood and the plastic off the drivers seat!! It was a goal I set for myself and an achievement that was so rewarding, plus such an exciting experience that I will definitely never forget.

These aren't like the 90s civics where a crv/wago subframe will bolt in. It would need a custom floorpan to fit a rear diff and driveshaft

Just stumbled on your channel and just wanna say congrats on the new ride. I just bought my sister's same exact year and model but the sedan version with almost exact same mileage, about 131k, for a whopping $3700! I'm giving it to my son who's in college as his first car and honestly, I hate giving it up lol! That engine is very intoxicating and puts a smile to my 54yo face every time I drive it. I repainted the hood and wrapped the roof black myself as the clear coat was peeling which is common to these cars but other than that, she runs and drives great. Other than the Acura NSX, this is truly one of the best they ever made
This car is very fun to drive, and you made a great choice! The only thing about it is the dwindling aftermarket, lack of boost options besides super chargers, and the tranny grinding. But I'm sure you will have all the fun in the world building on such a good baseline platform. Bought mine for 4500 140k miles

I was doing just a LITTLE above the speed limit in my fa5, got the vsa warning and cel. ended up being a misfire in all four cylinders. cleared the code, been two months and hasnt happened again under harsher conditions. next time it happens I'll actually look into it. gotta love hondas. Congrats on the new fg2! looks so nice it makes me wanna fix my paint damage
For the vtec code you can try to clean the vtec oil screen or just replace it. If that doesn’t work you would have to replace the vtec solenoid.
Why does everyone have to shit on the 9th gen civic si? It also in itself is a decent platform for modification, granted the obvious things like the intake mani, 7400 rpm redline (instead of 8000), and the VTEC being intake side only. But the K24 is still just as viable of a platform and just as true of an "Si" just as much as an 8th gen Si is... I just don't get the hate. I feel like I had to say something about this because I hear this too way much. :(

In my opinion, the 9th gens (2012-2013) are the last true civic si, k24 engine is an absolute unit, an unkillable tank that can shred if it need to

Careful with those vtec codes. They can start to show up with oil pressure issues.

I have owned a 2013 9th gen Civic SI coupe with the K24 but the 8th gen just gives us that great iconic honda look with decent performance, ether way these are awesome reliable cars

Just get Flashpro, tune it as is, and save up for a turbo kit. Or go FBO and then put a SC on it such as a KW kit. Just my 2 cents since you do want to go boost in the future

Never was into the Honda thing. But started looking around for a 8th gen coupe as I liked the way they looked and wanted something fun, daily driver, reliable, okay gas etc. Found a great deal on a boosted 08 coupe for 7k (in Pandemic economy was a steal). Sorted out tuning as car sat for a bit and made 450whp off of wastegate 10psi and could not be happier.
Needless to say I am Honda convert now.

I own the exact car! 2008 Civic Si with only 22k miles! They’re great cars, super fun to drive, easy to mod, and lots of people show love when they see a nice one.

Could you give me your honest opinion on which car you would get if you were in my shoes.. 2023 Civic Type R or 2023 bmw 340i? Never drove a manual before and think it would be fun driving a manual. Also never owned a Beamer before and the 2023 340i looks amazing just wish it was stick. Which would you prefer getting??
Honestly both will be fun. Bimmer is more quality. Type R is more raw driving experience. You have to decide what you value more.

I bought my wife a new 06 Si in 2006. She still owns it. Never a single issue besides common maintenance. The reason why it's so perfect is the electricals were never touched. Something kids can't seem to manage. I thought the money you raised was to buy another EK shassis?
Cant wait to see what you do with it! The pulling problem after you let off throttle check trans mount and lower control arm bushings they are notorious for both going out

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this was the last real si Honda made. I've driven many different generations working at the Honda dealer and Nothing ever beat the sound of a k20 with a few bolts Ons Intake, header, exhaust will make it scream. Downside to putting a turbo on them is it loses that v-tec crossover and starts sounding more like a Subaru depending on setup . Kraftwerks superchargers sound great on these though. I had the choice at the dealer of a sedan or coupe and i went with a coupe but i love that you can put the type r (FD2) front end conversation on them. I dont think the fenders match up to the doors on the coupe but im sure you could make it work some how.

With that code always check the oil !!!! Can be low oil making it stuck at times due to oil pressure.

I've been saying for years that the FG2 was the last real Civic Si. The K20Z3 is often overlooked. I had one with the awesome black factory paint for many years and absolutely loved it as a modified daily.
It's definitely great but definitely not last. as more time grows for the 11th and 10th gen, they'll continue to outclass the rest besides the ek9 which everyone can't help but mention when talking about the fl5.

This is then gen where I really wanted an Si. Close between this one and the 9th gen tho. I had an 07 civic ex coupe manual. Owned civics exclusively. 95 DX sedan auto. My 07 EX coupe manual then finally my 2020 Type R. I’ll get an Si one day. Leaning towards the FA5.

I believe the TCS light and stability control light and such turn on due to aftermarket wheel fitment, had a buddy with an FA5 that had the same issue not sure how he got the lights to shut off

Check your vtec solinoidand clean it up its prolly clogged up and make sure check your vtec valve train its probably got oil starvations

Get innovative mounts, a proper catback, shifter and cables, and a intake and tune and it’s a ton of fun to drive; especially if you do proper suspension upgrades :)
Had a 2006 si. Truck driver fell asleep and rear ended me on hwy. I walked away fine. Bought a 2008 si to replace it. Great car. I never had the 3rd gear grind people complain about.

so there is a common issue with the vtec solenoid, the contact loves to get corroded on one of the plugs and itll shoot a vtec code, the same thing has happened to me before.

I just sold my blue fg2! I did all the work myself, but yeah I knew it was the solenoid as soon as you said them lights came on! Easy fix but it can be a bitch to get to.

if you do figure out the pulling under and off throttle please update my fg2 k24 swap does the same thing and i replaced everything in the front end new steering and suspension related and it still does it so please please please update congrats on the buy i love my fg2 so so much
just got a fg2 myself but the weird thing is that its a HFP plated. not sure if that actually exists but i have a hfp badge on the rear of the trunk, hfp plate on top of shifter, and ofc hfp lips and side skirt. just wondering is your clutch extremely light? mine just has no pressure and its insanely light

Feel lucky that I was able to pick up a very clean fg2 with 117k miles for 6200$ back in 2020. Agree that these are the best all around car for under 10k
