Late season canoe camping can be so peaceful for sure, weather permitting. Have to say that little wood stove is one of the more clever one's I have seen, pretty cool.
Great video. Always appreciate seeing others set up their camps as well as the caming equipment. Sorry about the fishing but still looked like a great time.
I miss the old Chainsaw Saloon that sat right there at that entry point. Been to Fourtown, headed to Crooked Lake and into Canada that way many times over the years. A cold couple beers at the Chainsaw was welcome after 2 weeks in.
Good question. I used to use a UV wand filter. It made the water safe to drink but it tasted like lake water. Not to mention it was time consuming. For the last few years I’ve used a gravity filter (Platypus) and it makes all the difference. It’s tasteless or like regular drinking water. And so much faster than the UV filter. Plus it doesn’t weigh much. If you drink a lot of filtered lake water it can give you heartburn so bring some antacids.
Great video! I liked how you filmed the camp set up as most do not, and it made for a more authentic viewing. Thank you for your effort and outstanding videography. If I may ask...what week in October do you trip? My boys and I usually canoe last week in September, and had interest in October, but the outfitters discourage because of potential ice. Thanks again!
The last two years I have gone the third week in October, around the 18th. That time of year I fear the wind. I know it can be windy any month but it seems like October can get pretty windy. Ice out is happening near Ely so I’m hoping to go on my first trip soon. Thanks for the kind words 👍
Thanks 👍 they are Fjall Raven pants. The rubber boots are LaCrosse I believe. I only wear the boots when water is very cold. Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it
Sorry for all the questions but I'm learning a ton from you. I did purchase the same hot tent you have 2-4 version. Do you think i could fit 2 guys in it. You appeared to fill it pretty much. Thanks Mik
Check the dimensions but yes 2 people could fit. It would be tight but doable. I hope you guys are close friends and don’t mind smelling each other. Lol
I cant imagine how small the 1-2 person was that I was checking out. Thanks for getting back. I'll definitely be doing an Oct trip this year .Mik @@CommonManCamps-dz6ur
It’s a FIREHIKING 2-4 person. Got it on Amazon. Just looked now $219. If you’re going to use the stove, which I would assume the only reason why you would use that tent no more than two people.
Fourtown is a great lake. I was at campsite 1111 (2nd one if coming from Mudro entry point) I show the entire route to Fourtown in my “Day Fishing Trip to Fourtown” video. Canoe season is only 5-6 months away. Enjoy dreaming of where to go until then 👍
@@CommonManCamps-dz6ur Thanks! I've been checking out your videos along with Portage Mule. They seem to head from that entry too a few times. There seems to be quite a few great campsites in that area. I'm looking forward to canoe season!
