@@PrimeVsPrime Agreed. He also come close to SkyLynx in transformations. Victory Saber comes close to Robots In Disguise Galvatron which I think has 10 modes unless I'm wrong lol.
+26:29 I don't know if this works on this version but on other Victory Leo's the "tail" is a mounting point for the guns instead of them being on the top. It is also much larger usually and looks more like a cockpit too. To add to my list of after market parts.. a neck for the lion to add neck aticulation and to allow for the lion head to be the other way up in jet mode but this may be possible as is, I'll have to see when mine arrives. an adaptor to move the guns to other places and often further back in some modes. and insert extender with hinge retained for the vertical tails on Star Saber. the guns are such a mess though they may just need flat out replacing. But the Vlock cannon should be centrally mounted not off to one side. He's also missing the two pistols the Robotmasters version had too.
At least the transformation suggests there is clearance enough that if someone made a hinged cover for the side of Saber's arms attached to the hollow port in the other side it wouldn't interfere with any of the other modes at all. I'd hoping someone makes wing extenders ever wing is slightly to short for my tastes and an extra pivot point would fold them up better and prevent them catching on things at all.
Hi. I have the opposite feeling. I have MP Star Saber and I love it. It's one of my favorite Transformers. This one is feeling redundant but maybe I will feel differently once I get it in hand.
Having backed this, it is disappointing for all the reasons you mentioned. From the hollow parts to the shield not attaching in base mode to parts having been painted instead of being molded in the correct color, this should not be happening with a HasLab product. Oh well, I think I'm going to have to think twice about their future TF projects after Deathsaurus.
WTF it looks better than my masterpiece version in that video. I've seen all the promo images and stuff but I guess it's because I've seen it on those shoddy cases in conventions that's why it looked weird. But with this close up, you see that it kinda looks better than the MP. What sucks is that they made Victory Leo for this before the MP version if you didn't buy the very mid KFC version years ago.
I’d love to see to Saber as a Deluxe class in the mainline! He could even introduce the mainline to more brainmasters! Tho they’d probably just make a new mold with a headmaster. I wouldn’t be opposed!
@@ThePuff18 ya even though they would NEVER do this it would be cool to get Star Saber as a commander and Victory Leo as a voyager or leader, but like I said its never gonna happen 😔
Great review. Thank you. What an amazing figure! I did not know much about this guy when it was introduced as a HasLab but I am glad I backed him because he looks pretty awesome. As of this post, it looks like Deathsaurus is less than 400 backers from being funded. I am hoping all the tiers get unlocked but at least it looks like we will be getting Victory Saber's rival. Too bad about the QC issues and those hollow gaps. I really hope someone like Toyhax makes some gap fillers for those cannons because those gaps really do bring down the look of this HasLab figure. With that said I am so glad I backed him and can't wait to get mine. Thanks again.
Thank you for watching it! Same here! I didn’t know too much about the character either but the figure looked really nice! I think Deathsaurus will be a really nice piece to pair alongside VS
It is a shame that we have to spend more money to “fill the gaps”. I thought that was one of the benefits of Haslab?! Kinda makes me wonder if Hasbro has secret ties to DNA design. 🤔
@@bgarmstrong1446 Agreed! On a positive note, it is nice to see Deathsaurus not only fully backed but all tiers unlocked and it looks like Hasbro cut down on the gaps for Deathsaurus.
I feel like I cannot comment on the look of Saber/Starsaber/Victoy Saber, the design just doesn't make it for me, even if I can easily understand it's charm, but Victory Leo is just straight up bad! Paint scratching by design, lion mode that makes a G1 og Razorclaw toy look like a masterpiece, jet mode that looks unfinished AT BEST. I understand that it is meant to be a part of a combiner, bat when the only thing it can do right is being a part of a combiner and cannot stand as a solo toy... that's a very pood toy design... especially for that price point. Just a thing about the review per se, I think that the white BG was a poor choice, since it blends way too easily with the white of the toy; I'll suggest a neutral grey, even if it would be admittedly less visually striking.
I just got my HasLab Victory Saber copy. So far I have no QC issues with it. Fire and Holi are so colored because in Japan the Microformers (name in Japan) usually have different colors than in America. For the rest good video!
the looks like gundam whaaa. this does look like a masterpiece comes with alot of stuff which is fine dont really like victory leo he dosent look like a nice design. great review.
Great review! So glad i backed this. I hope that your review convinces people to also back Deathsaurus as i really want to see it get the full backing. Here's hoping Hasbro will give us more Victory characters. They did Galaxy Shuttle as well, so we are already on our way.
Hey PvP, the Micromasters are characters from the victory show, Holi and Fire. Also which a lot of people were hoping they would be tier unlocks! Just FYI since you mentioned they were unnecessary
Holi might actually have more screentime than Star Saber himself in the show. He appeared in Zone as well, although there they corrected his colors to all black, as with his toy figure (Stakeout in the US and Europe).
@@Theratron oh true, yeah as a toy reviewer you should definitely be knowledgeable on what you’re reviewing especially when it’s the basic who this character is etc.
They are unnecessary in this form. They are extremely basic molds with little paint apps and were not done justice. For $170-$180 set they could have been done better. Since they were not, that money could have been used on making Victory Leo better or filling out hollow parts.
i hope this guy gets a normal or a mass market release, maybe as a commander class, if we can do it to the Missing Link Optimus Prime, im sure we can shrink these figures down. be fitting given the rumored Prime theme of next year, why not have another japanese leader join in who isnt a prime. maybe take some design flare from IDW Star Saber
i could see Saber be a Commander Class and leo maybe as a Leader/Voyager. i hope we get a main line version of these guys, we got Lio Convoy and magmatron, why not Victory Sabar or even a DeathSaurus, have 2 Commanders at Once
I am so bummed I missed out on this. I wasnt collecting Transformers at the time. Really wish I could find it for cost. But I know thats not realistic.
Oh, I backed this! I always wanted this guy and since the G1 figure is out of the question and the Masterpiece was too expensive and didn't have Victory Leo I wasn't getting him either...this on the other hand is great! I backed him SO FAST. I just wish that the inflation BS wasn't a factor this year or I'd back Deathsaurus.
It’s worth the price but now how you would think This looks good on the shelf and with the amount of plastic it comes with is dope but for the size and as a actual playable figure it has too many QC issues for me im scared it’s gonna break , Im glad I skipped it and went for deathsaurs instead the Ascension Project PR astro megazord is a good fill character to pair deathsaurus with
I adore Star Saber and Victory was my first anime, but man I did not like the look of this figure. It doesn't look anime/Gundam enough to me, it's all rigid, blocky and much too thick. Star Saber is a thicc boi but it's too much here. Looking at what Bandai does with Gunpla now I can only imagine how amazing a RG or something Star Saber would be. Doesn't have that stylistic anime flare to it. I think it's amazing that not just Star Saber but Victory Saber got a high end modern figure (and now Dethsaurus too!) but I really do not like the look of them. I realise there's a lot of limitations in a transforming figure, but I'd take a good looking non-transforming Victory/Star Saber over this any day.
I backed this. I liked Victory for what it is and this figure will fill the VS void. I think I’ll be skipping Deathsaurus tho. It doesnt look like he can move his arms forward in combined mode tho. It looks like the shoulder “pylons/guns” will hit the wings… that is super disappointing. The waffeling on Leo’s cannons looks absolutely terrible against the white. I’ll be purchasing the inevitable upgrade kit to fix those.
I loved the micromasters as a tier unlock. Holi was a major character of the show. He IS the bumblebee of Victory. They were a nice addition to the set.
I really only got this for Star Saber. I really don't care for Victory Leo as he always seemed like an afterthought to me and I never got the horns/tusks on his head. I wish Hasbro would have proved me wrong though and made him better. The hollow cannons really piss me off. There is no excuse for that for $190 or whatever it was. Debating on if I'm gonna keep mine or not.
31:14 The Bay films didn’t invent Jetwing Optimus Prime, ya know? Super-God Masterforce God Ginrai/Powermaster Optimus Prime with Apex Armor done it first back in 1988🇯🇵/2003🇺🇸!
For those who have this, you can fix fire and hollys ball joints with a layer of acrylic paint from an acrylic paint pen, brand doesnt matter, the acrylic paint adds resistance for the ball and socket, i used this trick on all the wfc micromasters with ball joints.
I like a tiny piece of paper towel, it’s adjustable, non-permanent/non-damaging and quite secure, I got a floppy Movie Prime and in 30 seconds his hips were solid
⚠️⚠️⚠️Down here!⚠️⚠️⚠️ @PrimeVsPrime, this isn't exactly about this figure you're reviewing in this video, but it's about the Sludge Dinobot. You said in your recent(ish) upgrade kit video for the three of the Dinobots, that you wish there was an upgrade kit for him with folding feet, because the regular feet messed up the entire appearance of the Dinosaur Alt mode. I was just on Amazon, and I found one. I believe it includes either filler gaps for the regular feet, but it also includes folding feet. It was made by a company called "LUCKINLUCKY" and I just thought you'd want to check it out. "LUCKINLUCKY- Folded Feet Filler Upgrade kit for SS86 Sludge believe is the name of the kit. Also there is a B set upgrade kit for him, that includes a gun and a sword, along with a few other things, I think. A couple disclaimers though, 1) the fillers, for the regular feet, idk if they're going to be the same color as the rest of the figure, I believe it might be a few shades darker gray than the rest, and 2), I do not know for sure, if either kit includes that huge gap filler in the underside of Sludge's Dinobot mode. But I just felt you should be aware, in case you wanted to get it. The base price for the A set is $31.99, and the base price for the B set(which includes the sword and gun , as well as the googly eyes and blast effect) is $18.99.
Nah. MP24 is way more simplistic in transformation. It's still a very impressive piece, though. But I hope folks don't go around calling this a "Mini Masterpiece"...because one, it's too stylized and too over engineered compared to the Masterpiece figure, and two, this is more like what a CHUG type figure should be: a modernized representation of the G1 toy. And in so many ways, that's exactly what this is and what it does.
180 plus dollars to get a transformer with a literal butt hole. lol The shield feels like a waste. Aside from robot mode, it doesn't really ad to anything.
When evolution in transformers! From Alpha trion to Optimus prime! From Optimus prime to Romulus prime! From Romulus prime to victory saber! All four of these characters are awesome!
It looks great. Despite the flaws it is still a great set and I can't wait to get mine. Honestly, I would have preferred they use the plastic from those mini-cons to fill in any gaps on the other figures. The mini-cons don't add anything to the set so I don't understand why they chose to include them. The display stand was a tremendous inclusion. The several modes each robot provides allows for nice play opportunities. As always, a great review. I'm always pleased to hear your honest opinions about the positive and the negative.
The mini ones were a big deal in the show. They hung out with Victory Saber’s son. If anything, I wish we got the 2 missing minicons (a boat and ambulance). I know it would have been asking for a lot (especially given that Hasbro won’t even give us a figure without waffles), but all new sculpts with better articulation ( or at least legs that don’t just fall off) would have been appreciated. :) Good job on the video review, btw. I watched the whole thing!
Wow! He mentioned people’s hatred of the Michael Bay Tansformers movies. The only problem here is that he is mentioning Movie characters when this design came before both movie jetfire.
I can't wait for the deathsaurus review and the figure look awesome as 🔥😈
For the smaller robot you would have thought they would have erased the hollowed out spots for the hands.
I agree!
I think even the MP has the hollow arms
@@zannusx it does and that was a shame too.
I don't know if I like Star Saber as a really AWESOME looking robot or a RIDICULOUSLY overpowered sword
Facts though.
Haha the most expensive sword hasbro has ever made!
@@PrimeVsPrime im waiting for like, haslab tfp starsaber. It won't scale with anything. It will just be a giant, epic sword.
Great review, can’t wait to get mine in Hand and hopefully no QC issues
While Im already satisfied with MP24, i gotta admit I have a slight twinge of regret for not backing this one and getting my own.
Hi. I have the opposite feeling. I have MP Star Saber and I love it. It's one of my favorite Transformers. This one is feeling redundant but maybe I will feel differently once I get it in hand.
This looks so SICK really wish I backed this
Use a hairdryer/heat gun on the stress marked tab. Low heat can remove the stress mark and return the plastic on the tab to its original state....
And after deathsaurus is realesed all we need is a new overlord and dia atlas and all the autobot/decepticon Leaders from japanese g1 are United
Yeah I definitely think this has some improvements over the masterpiece too
Such a cool toy I wish I got one
It is coool! I hope you can find one for a good price!
Terrible articulation wtaf
Oh damn, I actually think it’s neat
Got my complete set no box for $200 🎉 today from a good seller
I’d love to see to Saber as a Deluxe class in the mainline! He could even introduce the mainline to more brainmasters! Tho they’d probably just make a new mold with a headmaster. I wouldn’t be opposed!
Maybe even give us Leo as well!
@@ThePuff18 ya even though they would NEVER do this it would be cool to get Star Saber as a commander and Victory Leo as a voyager or leader, but like I said its never gonna happen 😔
The Star saber base mode has always sucked
That’s a shame :(
@@PrimeVsPrime yeah even the G1 toy is was pretty lame, it was I think worse than this one
that plastic color separation. wow. this is the reason why I love mastergrade gundam model kits.
Wtf, you literally have hot shot and you still haven't made a review on him!?!?😥😠😕
Soon! :)
WAIT! They are shipping it out already???
Yeah, had the same question....
@@PrimeVsPrime Agreed!
Awesome video thanks for all u do
I feel like I cannot comment on the look of Saber/Starsaber/Victoy Saber, the design just doesn't make it for me, even if I can easily understand it's charm, but Victory Leo is just straight up bad!
Where could one purchase this?
I’m glad that I had the opportunity to back this figure. I’m looking forward to getting it and doing my own review of these figures.
the looks like gundam whaaa. this does look like a masterpiece comes with alot of stuff which is fine dont really like victory leo he dosent look like a nice design. great review.
Thanks so much! & I agree! Victory Leo is my least favourite
Great Review! This guy looks amazing!
Thank you very much!
Great review! So glad i backed this. I hope that your review convinces people to also back Deathsaurus as i really want to see it get the full backing. Here's hoping Hasbro will give us more Victory characters. They did Galaxy Shuttle as well, so we are already on our way.
Now, I would really like an RID 2001 Omega prime combo set.
i not gonna lie but if i get this figure i gonna enjoy painting the crap out of this figure in my own look
Oh nice! Would be cool to see some customs
Hey PvP, the Micromasters are characters from the victory show, Holi and Fire. Also which a lot of people were hoping they would be tier unlocks! Just FYI since you mentioned they were unnecessary
Yup, they are *absolutely* necessary to have the show's characters. Here's to hoping they do Road Caesar and a better Liokaiser
He's nice to be sure, but he's just too small compared to how big he was in the show, plus he has way too many hollow parts for a $180 figure.
This figure is AWESOME!! Some better articulation and poses. And also a tribute to Gundam if you’re familiar. But it has several issues sadly.
I agree man!
Looks likemoptimus fused with a gundam
Haha yes!
i hope this guy gets a normal or a mass market release, maybe as a commander class, if we can do it to the Missing Link Optimus Prime, im sure we can shrink these figures down. be fitting given the rumored Prime theme of next year, why not have another japanese leader join in who isnt a prime. maybe take some design flare from IDW Star Saber
i could see Saber be a Commander Class and leo maybe as a Leader/Voyager. i hope we get a main line version of these guys, we got Lio Convoy and magmatron, why not Victory Sabar or even a DeathSaurus, have 2 Commanders at Once
Do you plan to do review for legacy evolution tarn?
Absolutely!
The micromasters were honestly a necessary inclusion considering that holi is literally the bumblebee of the series
The MicroMasters are Stakeout & Red Heat AKA "Holi" (Police car) and "Fire" (Fire truck) respectfully.
It’s worth the price but now how you would think This looks good on the shelf and with the amount of plastic it comes with is dope but for the size and as a actual playable figure it has too many QC issues for me im scared it’s gonna break , Im glad I skipped it and went for deathsaurs instead
the Ascension Project PR astro megazord is a good fill character to pair deathsaurus with
Thumbs down... Seems these figures were headed to the Japanese toyline Gundam like figures. Starsaber 👎
I can't wait for mine to come in.
It’s really nice!
Battle up!
31:14 The Bay films didn’t invent Jetwing Optimus Prime, ya know? Super-God Masterforce God Ginrai/Powermaster Optimus Prime with Apex Armor done it first back in 1988🇯🇵/2003🇺🇸!
Found it
For those who have this, you can fix fire and hollys ball joints with a layer of acrylic paint from an acrylic paint pen, brand doesnt matter, the acrylic paint adds resistance for the ball and socket, i used this trick on all the wfc micromasters with ball joints.
I like a tiny piece of paper towel, it’s adjustable, non-permanent/non-damaging and quite secure, I got a floppy Movie Prime and in 30 seconds his hips were solid
@@MEmoosetrax once u try my method u wont go back

@PrimeVsPrime, this isn't exactly about this figure you're reviewing in this video, but it's about the Sludge Dinobot.
I want this thing so much
Too bad it'll never resell for an acceptable price :')
180 plus dollars to get a transformer with a literal butt hole. lol
The shield feels like a waste. Aside from robot mode, it doesn't really ad to anything.
When evolution in transformers! From Alpha trion to Optimus prime! From Optimus prime to Romulus prime! From Romulus prime to victory saber! All four of these characters are awesome!
is it possible to have him in Star Saber mode with the Brainmaster in place?
It looks great. Despite the flaws it is still a great set and I can't wait to get mine. Honestly, I would have preferred they use the plastic from those mini-cons to fill in any gaps on the other figures. The mini-cons don't add anything to the set so I don't understand why they chose to include them. The display stand was a tremendous inclusion. The several modes each robot provides allows for nice play opportunities. As always, a great review. I'm always pleased to hear your honest opinions about the positive and the negative.
Thank you very much mate!
I watched the whole thing!
micromasters not minicons two completely different mini-bots factions
@@thecasualknight2647 semantics, but I get your point. :)
Wow! He mentioned people’s hatred of the Michael Bay Tansformers movies. The only problem here is that he is mentioning Movie characters when this design came before both movie jetfire. Also, There were many characters who came before movie jetfire, do these characters ring a bell?: RID Ultra magnus, Energeon Wing Saber, energeon Omega Supreme. Man, you are too much of a fan of some very bad movies
BRO HAS IT!
Yes mate! Thanks 4 watching!
Wow you got back haslab victory saber
Man, I'm really sad this dude's a Has Lab. I have zero connection to this character, but this figure looks absolutely amazing and man do I want it. I'm contemplating backing Deathasaur, but without Star Saber in my collection idk if it'll be worth it.
Mine just arrived today. Victory Leo is missing part of the lion's head, very disappointed, it looks ridiculous. Waiting to hear back from Hasbro Customer Care.
Personally still confused why they made this set. Like, would it not have made more sense for a masterpiece victory leo even if done via haslab?
