@@sully6569 now that macs have m1 chips, you have to treat them like they are iphones or ipads. You need another mac in order to flash it.

@morgonaut Media, thanks for the video, We were unfortunately not able to use the any recovery/DFU mode on our Macbook air (M1) he is really stuck in a weird mode. We have a blackscreen and our mac is re-booting without stopping, sometime it access the login menu (and after 5-10 sec rebooting) other time reboot without going to login. Did you already fixed a similar bug ? Apple will change all parts, but as now we just want to acces the HD to get out data (not saved).

What you also can do (when you have a seemingly empty SSD or a partition you cannot access anmymore): Go into recovery mode, select the Disk Utility, click on Partition, click on the data partition, select APFS or any other format you want and reformat that partition. This will create a new container disk for Big Sur or newer to install to. After this, a disk wil show up to install to when using the reinstall Big Sur option on M1-based Macs. Hope this helps a couple of people as well! :)

Could you do a video on how to fix a bricked iPad mini 2? (Or any iPad really)
I hadn't used it in a while, and I turned it on and was just met with the plugin to iTunes logo. I've tried iTunes which doesn't pass 'Verifying iPad restore...' even after leaving it on overnight, alternative software that just gets stuck in the process of flashing every time, and and older version of futurerestore which didn't end up working out either. This thing is like, BRICKED bricked.
I just wanna give it to my mother cause she really wants an iPad mini since she works from home due to COVID.
My MacBook Air wasn't really "bricked," but after another software program was installed and it restarted, it refused to accept my PW (which I DID NOT FORGET). I tried everything from Options, reinstalling Monterey, all the recommendations; nothing worked. If I do this now, I will declare YOU ARE A GENIUS! Thanks for the help and encouragement.

I had a Synology NAS 95TB crash (Processor Bug, what a luck solveable) and a full break down at this time. What a luck that 2020 is over!!
I would never touch any crap called qnap or synology :) = no wonder you have problems
It's not that bad. 😊 And it was Intels fault. (Hopefully the last Intel processor, I'll use.) A 100 Ohm resistor finally solved the troubles, and now all is smooth again. (The break down was mental. 1st world problems. 😊)
If I have an usb boot flash drive (created with createinstallmedia) still need a second mac?

Thanks for the video. I wasn’t able to get the bricked M1 MacBook Air into DFU mode, it would always go straight into the log in screen and it would connect then disconnect over and over again. I changed the usb-c to usb-c cable to a usb-a to usb-c cable with a usb-a to usb-c adapter. It solves the problem. Now the bricked M1 MacBook Air is in DFU mode and being restored. Wish me good luck🙏
so then probably your original cable was only charging one and not able to carry data

Note: i used an older macbook as a healthy mac, forcing me to use a USB C - USB A cable and worked perfectly fine ;) make sure you have at least like 40+ gigs on the healthy mac

Great info, might I suggest a close up of the keys you press after start up. A visual instruction leaves no doubt as to which keys. As you said that is the hardest job. A touch lighter on the music audio perhaps. Well done.
I said clearly 2 times what exact keys to press, I showed that on screen live and I linked detailed document about it on Apple page in video description, so what else I should more for people?

Thanks, trick worked for Macbook Pro 2019 and yes, machine was totally bricked, no fan, no light, no sound, black screen, and DFU reset, wake it up.
Also DFU work for me, when I connected dead machine with the left 2nd (from the screen) thunderbolt port.
Reason for the condition: I tried to update to macOS Monterey , and when it stuck i forecefully restarted it. (maybe it was working, but the update bar is not moving much for around 30 minutes)

I bought a M1 Pro and i’m experiencing lots of framedrops/visual lag when scrolling on any browser. However when using other applications that require smoothness like zooming in Ableton live or logic pro, no framedrops whatsoever. Other animations other than scrolling are good but it upsets me when reading and suddenly it freezes some milliseconds while scrolling. Do you think the process you do in this video could help? By the way, on reddit there are users experiencing the same ‘problem’ . Cheers and lots of 🍺😁

I see on my M1 devices little lag while scrolling big web pages, but really only occasional small lag. Of course I cannot judge how many crappy stuff you installed :) so in that case clean installation could help.

I did not test it on hackintosh but in theory I see no reason why it should not work :) I think it should work fine

Hi Teresa,could u please make a video pushing the m1pro and m1 air to max load (CPU and GPU) with lesser resolution than 4k. Side by side .I'm eager to know the temperature rise for workflow on lesser resolutions than 4k at max load on CPU and gpu as u did earlier with 4k video on pro model.I'm planning to buy a machine but no one reviews up to the exact point as u do and exactly what one needs to know before buying.And ur videos are crisp and clear.(it would be my pleasure if u do the exact same thing "generate proxy media" for lesser resolution than 4k as u did for 4k on ur earlier video.it would make full sense to compare for between resolutions)

Hello! Great video, however I’m still in a bad situation. I’ve tried this out, however I used a Mac m2 to try and restore and when I tried going into DFU mode and it doesn’t work, only saying ‘continue pressing for startup options..’ and ‘Loading startup options.’ The screen loads up to options and a loading circle underneath. The apple configuration shows a lock for my MacBook Air, is there anyway to fix this on my own before I take it to a professional? Hoping that I won’t need to buy another laptop.

Hello and thank you for the video unfortunately in my case there is only padlock Symbol in the configuration App and the MacBook m1 shows a failure after loading the software for the bricked.
I think it was having no internetconnection after deleting the internal storage for installing a downgrade of the m1

I got a brand new M1 Macbook Air and I was setting it up, I signed in, added my name, password, iCloud account and all that, I even got the two factor authentication code on my phone, but then the screen froze for about 20 minutes after I clicked “continue” to finish the initial setup. So I turned it off pressing the Power button. When it turned back on, my User was already created but the password I set wasn’t working, I tried reseting the password using iCloud but my iCloud account wasn’t working either! Tried reseting the password using the Terminal, it didn’t work. I followed the instructions on your video and it worked, thank you!

you can use time machine backup or clone it from different Mac. In fact after bringing back to life my macbook pro I just migrated my Air to the Pro, worked like a charm
Mac mini M1 question - how do you to the restart? I've held down the key on the wireless apple keyboard and the power button (which is a challenge itself) though it just brings me back to the option screen, and shows a lock on my MacBook Pro apple configurator?

Some unrelated, I think i found a weird bug with Big Sur. I have Night Shift enabled on my Dell Inspiron 15 5559 (i5 6200u Skylake) notebook Hackintosh running 11.1. I noticed that the mouse cursor is still white as can be while the rest of the screen is shifted red.
Hopefully this is not an actual macOS bug.
