Originally founded in 1970 BBS started from humble beginnings - founded by Heinreich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand in the quaint city of Schlitach Germany - and deriving their name from the founders' last names, and the city they were founded in, BBS was born.
Originally starting as a small shop catering to the amateur weekend club racer crowd, manufacturing fiberglass FRP aero parts for European Touring cars, BBS quickly evolved into an innovator in the wheel industry.
From the launch of the iconic BBS RS wheel in 1973(sorry BBS, you weren't the first to make a 3 piece wheel no matter how much you claim it), to their partnership with Japanese aluminum manufacturer Washi Beam, all the way to their involvement in motorsport, BBS has been setting wheel trends for decades.
BBS isn't just for the aftermarket though, partnering with Nissan as early as 1989 to manufacture the OEM wheels for the legendary Godzilla - the R32 Skyline GTR, as well as going so far as to become the official wheel partner for Ferrari's F1 team - this is a brand that knows how to make a strong, durable, and extremely lightweight wheel. This is thanks to BBS revolutionizing wheel manufacturing through their innovative processes, including being the originators of magnesium wheel manufacturing.
It wasn't all sunshine and puppies for BBS though - going bankrupt, a lot(like more than once), BBS has had their share of trials and tribulations over the years. Fortunately - renowned German suspension manufacturer KW has stepped up to the plate, saving BBS from the brink of extinction and bringing them back with a boom - launching the FI-R - one of the lightest street wheels ever made.

As an owner of an 02, 3.2 liter, 6 speed, Porsche 986 Boxster S with Fabspeed Exhaust, catless headers, IPD Plenum/TB, Numeric shifter, Bilstein performance struts, H&R lowering springs, Polyurethane GT3 front bumper, side skirts, modified GT3 rear bumper, etc....
The 18x10 in staggered set if Sport Classic BBS rims in silver were one of (if not the) most impressive modifications thus far!
The BBS Sport Classics were the rims featured on the greatest Porsche race machine ever created; the Porsche "911 GT1" in it's latest stage if development of course.
Thus they were a perfect fit for my little project. Perfect wheels; compliments the car so well! 😍

I wanted a set of BBS rims for my beamer and was adivised not to by BMW because they bend very easy after hitting any potholes 😂

Sometimes I can’t recognize half the parts I see on people’s tuner cars,but I respect them a lot.
The circa 1995 mercury grand marquis had some very nice cast aluminum knockoffs as an option.

Don't buy the FI-Rs, buy the RS 595s. (You'll need to buy replicas because only about 40 were made.)

Don't forget that every single car on the F1 grid currently is rocking a full set of BBS's! Sure it might be by rules but still.

Do you know anything about this back order thing going around? I can’t find this set of rims I’ve got my eye on anywhere.
Typically you have two kinds of stock - stock at retailers/distributors, and stock at the manufacturer. In many cases, if both the retailers and manufacturer are out of stock then an item will go on backorder nationwide. If an item is on backorder, that means that no one has it, and you will need to wait or choose another item

I see these wheels everywhere chunks and pieces next to potholes broken pieces in every car crashed these rims self-destruct upon impact with anything greater than a marshmallow in density.
In my opinion it's very dangerous to be able to operate a car after the rims have shattered under the stress of a high g turn these things are effing jank Don't waste your money
You’re probably thinking of cheap knockoff BBS replicas. Real BBS wheels are used on F1 cars. They’re the pinnacle of engineering and technology in wheel manufacturing.
