How to make dynamic headers in word

In this video I show you how to make dynamic headers in word. In this example I make headers that match my chapter titles and will change automatically if the title changes. I also show how to make headers different on odd and even pages and how to put different things on the left and right sides of the header. It is common in non-fiction books to use headers so when you are in the middle of a section you can look at the top of the page and see which section it is.

That was a good 👍 one 😅... But I have a little complex scenario 😢... And want to use this dynamic headers 😮..
I have a document setup with different odd & even page 📄 and it has many sections 😢...
There's a 3 column table in the header.
In odd page header sample text goes in the rightmost column of the table. While in even page, this sample info goes in the leftmost column of the table.
Now my requirement is that whenever I type something in the rightmost column of odd page table the same should be automatically copied to the leftmost column column of the header 😮.
I tried styleref in the even page header, but I got an error.
Could you help how to achieve this? 🤔

Useful tutorial, but it should maybe come with a warning for headphone users. I put the volume as low as I could, but still the way some words are emphasised, e.g. the word Chapters just after 5:08 is like some kind of sonic weapon :P

Jan, the later versions of Word don't have a "Design' tab. Look under "Insert" and for me it's above a grouping labeled "Text," the dropdown allows me to insert AutoText or a Field. In the video they went to "Fields" and found StyleRef : Heading 1. I realize you asked a year ago but I was just looking for something else and found this video.

the title in the header is just on first page not in other odd pages. What to do?

When you click into the header, on the Header and Footer ribbon, is "Different First Page" checked? If so, uncheck it, and make sure "Different Odd and Even Pages" is also unchecked. You might want to copy your header before unchecking boxes, just in case you need to re-paste it.
