I went through about 20 videos + before I could find your letterhead that was done correctly using the Headers and footers and very detailed, Thank you so much for your video
Hi, Lisa! I want to express my gratitude for your creation of this video. I appreciate the time, clarity, and guidance that you have given us all. From my heart to your, thank you, and I love the content on this channel. 💜
Fantastic tutorial - thank you, very clear, and pretty interesting for someone like me who can't do anything in word without swearing. But, Word for Windows doesn't have an eye-dropper tool - I just can't believe it. And when I looked online for an answer, Windows folk said that it has never had an eye-dropper tool. I'm stupefied. It must be one of the most basic tools for any graphical application. Blows my mind how such a large software developer can miss something so obvious. A good workaround for Windows users is to install Microsoft Powertoys, available in the Microsoft Store. It has an eye-dropper tool, a screen ruler and a text extractor - as well as many other tools.
thank you for your video, i was having a lot of trouble with formatting for my leaderhead assignment and this had a lot of great tips. im going to subscribe
"Zed" made me chuckle! Quick question did you mean to have it go black from @21:35? Removing this would make your video look a bit shorter and perhaps more appealing to people looking for a solution not so long. This is well done and awesome thank you!
This is an excellent video. But there is one problem. Usually the second page of a letter does look like the first page and therefore one needs to NOT have the header and fitter carry over to the next page.
@@LisaDoe Is there a way to lock those elements so anyone can use it as letterhead without accidentally moving, typing over, or deleting those elements? Thank you.
@@khart1825I don't know if there is or isn't. But as a workaround, you can hover over the group > RMB > Save as Picture. And then replace the group with the picture. That would at least preserve the group element layout when working. If I were to do it that way, I would probably build my element groups in another document, where I can work on the design and then save off the images for each group once finalized. It's not ideal, but it's a way.
Hi Lisa, thanks so much for this, I was struggling with headers and footers and this really helped. Your explanations were very clear and informative. Is there any way to use the template without it being faded out? I have created a letterhead for my father in laws business, but when I send it to him in email it looks very washed out and faded? TIA
Hi. Thank you for your comment. It's greyed out because the graphics are in the headers and footers. If it's saved as a PDF or printed the colours will be perfect. It's just how word displays information in the headers and footers.
Thank you very much. I have watched many of your tutorial videos and those are really helpful. Thanks again. But I have a question- in Microsoft Word is it possible to copy a text box or say an image or an icon and paste that in place?
Nice video, will attempt to my header this way. Did you need both Align and Group to get the 2 items on the right side to stay with each other or would just Group have sufficed?
I've just found you and love your lessons - very clear and easy to follow. Can I ask, I'm trying to create an editable template with a patterned header than runs edge-to-edge. Whenever I look at print preview I can still see a white border outline. How can I set my template to be borderless along the header - should i be adding the patterned image into a text box?
You should be able to resize your pattern to stretch the full width if it's a JPEG, shape, etc. If that fails, yes you can place it in a text box and try and resize.
Hi! Thank you so much for this tutorial. It's been great help. I am however unable to click on an oject while in Heade/Footer mode and drag it to position it. When I try and go to "Position" on the ribbon, it only give me set options, none of which I wish to use. I try and use the arrow keys, and they don't work either. Any idea if this is a special setting that I need to change? Thank you for any help you can give me on this isue. I am using Windows 10 and Office 2019.
The Tutorial is informative. When we insert a new page, a different page should come automatically. For Example, the first page is the complete letter head. But when we insert a new page, the emblem only should appear automatically. How can we do that?
Make sure you place everything in the headers & footers. Double click at the very top of you page and you will enter into the headers and footers area. Pace all of your graphics here and they will appear on every page.
@@LisaDoe For Example, I want in the first page it should display A. From the second page onwards, in the header portion, it should show B. It should be like we open a template and in the first page it shows only one page. As a continuation, when the content in the first page flow in to the second page, it automatically should show B in the header. That is the question is.
Lisa, for some reason, I can't make duplicates of the page that I designed as my template. What gives? I wish there was a way to insert an image in the comment section to show you what I'm attempting to relay to you. UA-cam needs to STEP UP!
Hi. Have you placed you design and graphics within the header and footers - if so they should simple duplicate onto the next page. You can also make duplicates of your design by grouping all the graphics together and copy and pasting it. :)))
The header will become normal if you print it or save as a PDF. The reason it's faded is to show which items are in headers and footers and which items are in the main document.
well damned if i can do it for whatever reason it wont let me select more than one thing at a time i can select the text box or the picture but not both together ????????????????
You will have to create the graphics within the normal document and copy and paste them onto each page. Just don't create them in the headers and footers:)

Excellent, learned a lot, Lisa. Thank you so much.
Hello lisa you have delivered very nice lesson.
Very well explained. Thank you.
what a easy way to do a letterhead
This is an excellent video. But there is one problem. Usually the second page of a letter does look like the first page and therefore one needs to NOT have the header and fitter carry over to the next page.
Well... you can just create the design without using headers and footers and when you write on the subsequent pages the design won't appear :))

Yes absolutely. You can put anything into the header :)
@@LisaDoeThanks for your reply.
In that case, how can I paste the copied item in place (i.e at exactly the same position)?
Thank you so much , This video is kind of helpful a lots.
I'm so glad!
what did you press to select the logo and the text at the same time?
Hi is there any way to stop the headers/footers from fading out?
Hi :) It is suppose to be normal once you print it out :)
Nice video, will attempt to my header this way. Did you need both Align and Group to get the 2 items on the right side to stay with each other or would just Group have sufficed?
By grouping the items you will keep them together, the align tool will line up the items wherever you want them. I would align first, then group. :)

Glad you think so!
When I print my doc the header/footer does not print to the end of the page. I've adjusted the margins to 0. Any ideas?
How do you make it unfaded?
Can I pay you to make my 20 page terms and policy document to look something like this.
did not understand which key to press at 14:19 ???
Why my print does not cover all sheet
Hi, I wonder if there's a way to save a header so I quickly can add that same header on another word document
you can save it as a template:)
I want to have a different header on the first page and a different footer on the last page with no header or footer on the other pages.
Hi. It's a little more complicated but this is the video you'll need - How to have different HEADERS in Word - ua-cam.com/video/m0-Fo3qjF5I/v-deo.html

When i complete the header, it shows faded, how to make it normal
The header will become normal if you print it or save as a PDF. The reason it's faded is to show which items are in headers and footers and which items are in the main document.
how to get full opacity for footer and header ?
Full opacity will only appear when it's printed or exported as a PDF.
well damned if i can do it for whatever reason it wont let me select more than one thing at a time i can select the text box or the picture but not both together ????????????????
Are you holding down the CMD/CTRL key at the same time as clicking?
@@LisaDoe yes but too no avail
Thanks for good information , can you send me this file on drive or email ...I a, really thankful to you
I don't want the footer and header to fade tho
You will have to create the graphics within the normal document and copy and paste them onto each page. Just don't create them in the headers and footers:)
How to prevent Footer item to not Grey out?
It will always be greyed out whilst you working in word. It will be a normal colour once printed or saved as a PDF.
Is this Microsoft 10? Microsoft 11 is a pain😡
When I inserted a page break it didn't carry over to the rest of the pages. Any suggestion what to look for to fix the problem?
Did you ensure you were in the HEADERS & FOOTERS when you inserted you graphics, designs and text?
