I caught my whole life, with the exception of my sophomore year in highschool, I played right field for varsity, and John Buck was my age and the first team catcher on an academy team I played on one summer in highschool, so I played a lot of outfield on that team. Buck made like a handful of mlb all star teams while with the Blue Jays and won a World Series starting for the royals…. But outside of that I pretty much caught my whole life and would have had a hard time enjoying baseball growing up outside of catching… Just was way to much sitting and watching for me, where catching was a completely different experience where your engaged and a part of every play… I will say, while I liked all star, and always preferred heart of the hide for any non catchers mit, but to this day I don’t think anyone makes a better catchers mit than the a2000… but I guess it’s what I grew up catching with…

A2000's are certainly legit! Some of the beauty of the glove and mitt discussion is how different mitts meet the needs of some while not for others. Glad there are so many top quality brands to outfit players out there!

I'm an umpire and am very offended by your stabs at umpired. Unsubscribed!
Just kidding, that stuff was hiLARIOUS!

Great interview. I started catching in Detroit mens rec league at 52 in 30, and over I have a 34 in All star. Totally agree that bigger is better .

Sorry for delay in response! Glad you enjoyed the interview! Hopefully we can put out more content like this for the glove community!
