I won't lie, as great as it is to watch these model kit builds, it's also really disheartening when I want one and see how ridiculously expensive they are.
I’m not sure “ridiculously” is a good adjective for the price. Model gun and prop kits for sci-fi weapons like this are always higher priced because it’s usually one person or a small team hand designing and machining these parts. That’s a lot of labor hours and hand work that must be accounted for in the price so that they can pay their employees and have a viable business. Saber kits easily cost just as much, if not more, than this kit and this blaster kit has a lot more parts than a lot of saber kits. The price on this (in the context of Star Wars/sci-fi props) is pretty reasonably priced.
In context to the average person I guess. I do recognize that these are top of the line for what they are. But that still doesn't prevent what I feel when I see it.

I forget the name of the glue, however any glue that's used in restoration (both in painting and sculpture) and is under the grant of "reversible glue" is an excellent tool in the arsenal of a perfectionist model builder. You can fit and finish parts and then take them apart as many times as you want using it, because usually, it only takes a bit of warm water or some non destructive solvent to take parts apart. I usually use a little bit of diluted fish glue for my models, makes final assembly for paint an easy task as all the parts are fitted and no longer hold that quality of amplified mistakes as each part takes its toll.

Serious prop QUESTION for ADAM about recent ALEC BALDWIN accidental shooting on set. Regarding props on set, I've always wondered why firearms used in films are real when everything else is more or less a nonfunctional fabrication. My question: Is it possible for the best makers in the industry to design and build prop firearms that look, feel, and only APPEAR to operate like actual firearms, (i.e. muzzle flash, recoil, proper weight, load/unload clips and PROP cartridges, etc.), only they fundamentally operate in such a completely different manor that projectile discharge isn't even a functional possibility, even if the props malfunction? Has this already been done and I just missed it? If so, why has this new tech in prop firearm design NOT become the film industry standard? Thank you for being AWESOME, Adam!
@@RandomStuffGarage619 I recognized the label in the video. I was using it for woodturning finishing and bought giant bottle and broke the cap applicator within 2 uses. Now if I want to use it I have to take off the entire cap and it doesn't pour easy.
That is a beautiful kit... as a prop maker and machinist the price on this is really good value... can't afford one sadly and they'd never allow them here in the UK anyway as any replica of a design made after 1869 is restricted and requires special dispensation to own.
Adam says he has "terrible work ethic" for not researching the gun name before shooting. While he pumps out videos and builds daily and weekly for months on end.
I think it’s perfectly excusable. I’d love to be able to shake Adam’s hand and thank him for the countless hours I’ve spent watching the videos he’s made. And I’d like to ask him if he’d ever take a commission for a Deckard blaster but probably not but one can dream.
I just bought this kit after revisiting this video like twice a month since it first came out. I’m hoping to do the same finishing work on it that you guys did in this video, but I don’t have a ton of experience. 10 minutes in and Adam has pretty much taken over the build.
I find applying tiny quantities of crazy glue is easier with a cocktail stick point.
I hope to see Adam make more iconic guns from movies, series and comics like Hellboy's revolver
"Thanks for letting me help build my kit, dad!"
I have that CA glue, and I can't stand it, but also can't live without it.
Wait was it BSi? Literally glued the tip of my pinky back together with the stuff. Incredible.
@@RandomStuffGarage619 I recognized the label in the video. I was using it for woodturning finishing and bought giant bottle and broke the cap applicator within 2 uses. Now if I want to use it I have to take off the entire cap and it doesn't pour easy.
@@cedarandsound i bought 2 bottles and setting spray in the same order. I could send you my other cap! 😂
That is a beautiful kit... as a prop maker and machinist the price on this is really good value... can't afford one sadly and they'd never allow them here in the UK anyway as any replica of a design made after 1869 is restricted and requires special dispensation to own.
I’d love to see a display case gun rack for all the gun props...that would be a great one day build...
Somewhere in the mission district of San Francisco, Adam is making something else.
Adam says he has "terrible work ethic" for not researching the gun name before shooting. While he pumps out videos and builds daily and weekly for months on end.
He is being the definition of facetious.
I think it’s perfectly excusable. I’d love to be able to shake Adam’s hand and thank him for the countless hours I’ve spent watching the videos he’s made.
And I’d like to ask him if he’d ever take a commission for a Deckard blaster but probably not but one can dream.
I always forget the most obvious info when the camera starts rolling haha
Hey Adam do you plan on making the pulse rifle from mandalorian or possibly a Tuskin raider rifle?
Cycler rifle.
Oh and I have the nerf mando rifle on preorder. Cant wait to repaint it!
I just bought this kit after revisiting this video like twice a month since it first came out. I’m hoping to do the same finishing work on it that you guys did in this video, but I don’t have a ton of experience. I got the aluminum black to darken the pieces, but do you have to sand the metal pieces to remove any CNC marks?
Can we talk about the NN-14 (Rey’s) blaster and Jyn Erso blaster just hanging out on the table? Seriously blaster factory (war machine paintball) kits are amazing. I love my steel DL44 kit.
Anyone else think Adam is just like my dad? "all you need to do is...this, see? Next Step..."
I would love to see how the aluminum was blackened.
