The look on your face shows a glass perfectly sized and it was AMAZING watching this build. Thanks for taking us all on the journey with you!
You can definitely /actually/ do that. One really cool thing I've seen people do is 3d painting. In it, you spread a thin layer of resin, and let it set. Then you paint a layer of your image. Then resin, then more painting. By the time you're done, the painting is stacked and has a neat 3d appearance, and all you did was spread resin and paint.

Surely there can't be a better Samaritan in the world than this. Beautiful work, beautiful finish, beautiful case. It's a work of art!! You're rightly proud, and I'm naturally envious.
Adam: "Hand made screws!" Gunsmiths: Ah, someone who understands our daily toil! Adam: "Weathered with hammers and sandpaper!" Gunsmiths: Aaaaaaaaaaaa...
There is a class of gunsmiths that do use hammers and sand paper to weather guns and it's the realistic, aged replica groups (Italy, .. europe in general). Those are high pieced pieces, that look 100 yo, but they're, what 3 years (don't quote me on it, but i think that's the waiting line for one).
I suspect that Adam would have to give it the price of a car, in order to be properly compensated for his time. I would to see someone with manufacturing experience take this prototype and turn it into something that could be created as a short-run prop replica. It might still be as expensive as a car, but it might be a rather less expensive car.
Volpin props did an amazing Samaritan kit recently with this level of complexity, had a couple limited runs and they might do another eventually. Super high quality resin casts.
So proud of this build. I have nothing to do with it, but seeing how happy Adam is means everything to me. Thanks for including all of us in the process. Congrats Adam!
How many people felt the hit of the hammer as Adam weathered the gun? Even knowing what Adam was doing. Fearing the wrong hit would make a mark not wanted or worse, breaking something like the laser lense. Even knowing that the likelihood was slim... Nicely done. A really beautiful piece.
Well I guess the trick with weathering is that there are no unwanted marks; that would make the weathering non-random, and thus, usually less convincing. We are just too good at spotting a plan in something. Sure, one might want to make sure not to structurally damage the piece, but how would you do such damage on a fully metal/hardwood piece. Relax, and weather 😊
Personally, this is by far my favorite of your ODBs since quarantine. This'll be the one people come back to 5 and 10 years from now. Especially to hear the spinning cylinder ASMR.
The next time Adam visits Weta, I fully expect to see an article in the news of him being arrested for trying to sneak this hand canon into New Zealand.
that final bit of the build when it's all coming is always a fantastic feeling. i got into saber crafting after my dad died it kept me going when i didn't feel like it. my dad was builder so when i got back into saber crafting recently it kinda makes me feel closer to my dad since he built things, those are some of the best memories i have of him and i know he would be right here with building a lightsaber if he could.
36:44 - "Realizing I might just might have the machining skills to pull it off." Did you find along the way that your skills _weren't_ there yet, but the project pushed you to raise that bar? I find it immensely satisfying to finish a project that I wasn't skilled enough to finish when I began. There's no better way to learn something than to have a goal that requires the knowledge.
Huh, that is interesting. Apparently here in Canada we typically call all those type of wire connectors Marrettes, which is actually the name of the inventor - kind of like saying Kleenex instead of facial tissue. And the reason I mention it is because the first time Adam mentioned using a wire lug, I didn't actually know what it was until I saw it. LOL
I’m so impressed and inspired by you. What a mountain to climb.. And you did it and it turned out amazing! Thank you for letting us in on this project, truly enjoyed it!
These props always exist, but you never stop to think how much work goes into something like this. Adam, ive been watching you ever since I was a little boy, and you keep amazing me. The mythbusters actually played a big part in my decision to become a physics teacher. Thank you for this experience.
I can only hope that some day I will make something I'm as proud of as Adam is of this piece. The last few minutes of this video are so heartwarming and inspiring, his enthusiasm is so contageous!
So there's a certain level of love and admiration to the original makers for conceptualising that gun for the movies. Then this is a whole other level of love and admiration to he able to improve upon the original. Incredible work, to you and the collaborators 🙇🏻♂️ What a holy grail
I have to say I love watching Adam work on projects. Its truly a relaxing and enjoyable experience to me. I'm not a maker but I love watching and knowing how things work, how they go together, and how they are generally made. I feel like I understand something so much better once I know how all the parts work together and make things work. Also, Adam would make one hell of a gun smith. So if he ever stopped being a maker he could quite literally fall back on his maker skills to make guns... just saying this thing looks so real I dont think he's that far off from making the real deal.
Adam, this is beautiful. Seeing this whole build process has been an absolute joy, and I deeply appreciate you for sharing it with us! You are an inspiration. Carry on!
Thats the nicest prop replica I have ever seen. A true piece of art. I could feel your excitement with every moment of this video. Thankyou so much for sharing this experience with us all.
There is something to be said about the satisfaction of finishing a project that not only meets your expectations but surprisingly exceed them. Well done sir.
Goodness its wonderful to see Adam so happy and filled with pride for a job well done. The Samaratin he has created is amazing, but the expression of joy he shares with us is something even more special. The prop is a special thing, but Adam's happiness is something special. It's an odd thing to feel, considering that I only know him through Television and youtube, but I'm proud of Adam...
I can’t begin to comprehend Adam’s depth of feeling at this accomplishment. To take something so beautifully complex from “I wonder if?” to completion as a better than the inspiration piece must be incredibly satisfying. One thing I had wondered about since seeing the movie way back when, was why they chose a Webley style break open design. While it’s satisfactory for low to medium power cartridges, I never heard of one using large, high power rounds. The only logical answer I could come up with was ease of manipulation while in costume. Even that reasoning has some flaws. But when you’ve been shooting for 50 years you start to wonder about these sorts of things. 🤷♂️
I always like putting on these build videos while I'm working on making stuff of my own. Seeing Adam's care and precision motivates me to not cut corners I probably would have otherwise cut.
This is an incredible example of engineering and machining prowess, Adam. Truly a museum-quality replica that you should be exceptionally proud of. As an aside, I can only imagine your reaction the first time you spun that cylinder with the magnet in place and discovered the effect it produced. I would have been giggling uncontrollably at the sheer amount of "cool factor" that adds to the build. Freaking amazing, man!
Hey, I know I’m catching these videos probably two years or so late but this is beyond dope, I think it’s awesome. I watch the whole entire series. GREAT!!!!

Congratulations Adam! And thank you for taking us on your journey with you!
I want to see GDT and Wetas' creators reactions!
that final bit of the build when it's all coming is always a fantastic feeling. i got into saber crafting after my dad died it kept me going when i didn't feel like it. my dad was builder so when i got back into saber crafting recently it kinda makes me feel closer to my dad since he built things, those are some of the best memories i have of him and i know he would be right here with building a lightsaber if he could.
The last three minutes where Adam almost cries multiple times is the best part of this entire build.
Huh? He wasn't about to cry at any point lol
@@koszuta he’s pretty excited and overwhelmed and he gets choked up a few times.
36:44 - "Realizing I might just might have the machining skills to pull it off."
Did you find along the way that your skills _weren't_ there yet, but the project pushed you to raise that bar?
I find it immensely satisfying to finish a project that I wasn't skilled enough to finish when I began. There's no better way to learn something than to have a goal that requires the knowledge.
Huh, that is interesting. Apparently here in Canada we typically call all those type of wire connectors Marrettes, which is actually the name of the inventor - kind of like saying Kleenex instead of facial tissue. And the reason I mention it is because the first time Adam mentioned using a wire lug, I didn't actually know what it was until I saw it. LOL
Or Xerox for copier machines (or the process itself). :)
Non mais sur le vocabulaire on a tous vu comment vous traduisez les titres de films hein... Laisse nous deviner, Le garçon des enfers? XP
Congrats! such an amazing feeling when something turns out so well after so much concerted effort. Loved following this build.
"Demolition ranch" would be like: nice.. but will it stop 50 BMG?
I’m so impressed and inspired by you. What a mountain to climb.. And you did it and it turned out amazing! Thank you for letting us in on this project, truly enjoyed it!
Regular viewers of this channel will also notice, that you took down all the raptor videos and didn't bother to even give us a hint, why...
I wanted to show it to some dinossaur geek friends too...
You can hear the pride and triumphant love in your voice Adam - congrats!! It's amazing!!!
My greatest work of art is done, now I am going beat it with a hammer.
A series of hammers, please. 😉
A huge congratulations, and thanks for taking us on the journey!
These props always exist, but you never stop to think how much work goes into something like this. Adam, ive been watching you ever since I was a little boy, and you keep amazing me. The mythbusters actually played a big part in my decision to become a physics teacher. Thank you for this experience.
I don’t know what it is, but I can’t get enough of the One-Day Builds. These are amazing, keep ‘em coming!
I'm so honored to witness this build over the last months. Incredible job and I can't wait for you next major undertaking! Thank you, Adam.
“There is no real thing, but this feels like the real thing” - the wisest words ever muttered by man! :-)
You did a great job on this piece, Adam. It's been great watching it the whole way through! It turned out really amazing. I'm really happy for you!
There is something to be said about the satisfaction of finishing a project that not only meets your expectations but surprisingly exceed them. Well done sir.
Congrats on your final assembly. No higher can we reach the past of equality, there truly is a maker in all of us. Looks amazing. 👍🏼
Not odd at all - I feel exactly the same and I'm pretty sure I'll never meet him. I love how he articulates his enthusiasm, that's a rare gift.
That is a EPIC finale for the build. LOVE the look. LOVE the outcome of the final product. Man... you did the Samaritan such JUSTICE! Great JOB!!!!
Please keep building props like this.... best part of the pandemic!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
"One of these days" build, but that is why we love you - keep doing you
This might be your greatest work, thank you so much for letting us share this frigging excellent journey with you!
Mr.Savage thank you for sharing your passion and enthusiasm with us.
Thank you Adam for taking us on this journey. your enthusiasm for every detail is so infectious.
This is by far one of the coolest things I've seen you make since the start of Mythbusters!
Beautiful work, Adam. Love to see your passions, training, and hard work come together
That turned out truly beautiful. Great to see you so happy with it.
congratulations, Adam. Not only it turned out amazing, this series was so entertaining to watch. Thank you
I have absolutely loved every episode of this build. You sir are a genius. 10/10 work of art.
That is absolutely phenomenal! You're one of the best prop makers in the world and this is proof.
Well, this is the end of a magnificent journey. This series has been my favourite ever Tested content.
Hey, I know I’m catching these videos probably two years or so late but this is beyond dope, I think it’s awesome. I watch the whole entire series. GREAT!!!!
This is so amazing - Grant would have absolutely loved the process and your outcome. So glad it was such a pleasurable build!
Hell of a ride, Adam. Thank you for taking us along.
Does the trigger? And does the trigger rotate the cylinder!?
It's really beautiful how all those custom parts come together. So satisfying.
You've done a lot of builds but this has to be one of your most impressive builds.
