I live in Florida and will need a knee replacement in 2023. I live alone and have no family. How can I determine what help Medicare will provide to me post op? Does the length of the hospital stay affect my options.

Most likely they will send you home instead of re-hab. Medicare will most likely pay for some home health visits. No way to know in advance

Sidney, usually physical therapy is ordered immediately after your procedure, then see you once or twice before you go home. Home health care will have ordered physical therapy for you and they usually work with you 4-6 weeks. This is pretty standard. You also be assessed for any more services like Nursing and and other disciplines until 4-6 weeks. Medicare wants to ensure you have reached a maximum level of independence usually less than 8 weeks. Sidney, they may ask you simply because you mentioned there’s no one in the family close to that can be there in an emergency. Do you have emergency button for around your neck? You may additionally get help to pay for monthly service to obtain one. Very good for people that live alone. Nelly
