      If you or anyone else ever find the answer to this question let me know... Because that's the one thing holding me back from it right now (as a poor college student)

      crossfit.com posts a daily workout every day. The Level 1 training manual is free to read and download. Crossfit is free, being a member of a privately owned affiliate gym is not.

      I agree. The scary thing about that is that people who are starting don't know the basics but those who have been doing crossfit for a long period can be independent with doing the different WODS. The goal here is to encourage those people who are not active and eating there lives away. They are the ones that need to be able to afford to go to a box and be coached on the basics of everything.

      You are 100% on the money (pardon the pun). Those people who are eating too much, eating out, fast food, soda, possibly smoking, drinking in excess...how much would they save by cutting that stuff out and eating Meat and veg, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar? They'd save something right? With around 80% of US health care spend going on chronic disease, being healthier would make a saving to the individual there too surely?
      $125 a month for longevity, for long term health and a buffer against chronic disease, for coaching, and a support group, for nutrition advice and support, and to support a local business as well.
      Doesn't seem so much ask, does it?

    • @jacquelinerojas1722
      @jacquelinerojas1722 6 років тому

      Ben Upfold, Hi Ben okay First where do you go where you pay 125 dollars a month .I pay 160. Secondly, you and I are aware of the benefits of eating "clean or healthy" , and the importance of exercise. You have to afford to first get to a gym to get that nutritional guidance, and coaching and motivation to stop.smoking and eating crap. That extra money you safe can help you to continue to go to your Box.
      I am nurse and visit people in their homes and I see first hand what harm they are putting themselves in by eating affordable processed foods and limiting the activity due to their ailment or limited ROM. But out side of educating them there is little I can do to get them that nutritional coaching, access to healthy food choices and a person to help them work with their limitations. I have decided to take my Level 1 certification so that I have that knowledge to help guide them at least to basic nutrition and help to increase their functional movements to motivate them to want to do more. However I am only but one person and the need is great. What can we do as a Crossfit community to reach out to help those that need the help when they can't come to us.

    A huge barrier to entry of crossfit is price. And of course you can argue the cost of a monthly gym membership vs the cost of chronic disease and make it seem petty. But it doesn't change the fact that a lot of people that this video is talking about can't afford 100-200 dollars a month fees. Just like they can't afford the inevitable health care costs. I'd love to see Crossfit create a scholarship style program for people who truly want to be there and want to improve health but also TRULY can't afford it.

      Hey thanks for replying, I'm a die hard Crossfitter I just hate seeing people give it up because of the cost after a few months. Thank you to Crossfit for the gift you've given the world. And that's very true about the free programming and library of info at crossfit.com, nothing beats that community of the box though. Thanks again!

    Ok. So, I’m a pharmacist in the UK. I’m fairly new to crossfit (I started last October) and I’m at the beginning of my crossfit career after a time-served career as a couch potato; will this course be offered in the UK? And will it be available to pharmacists?

    It's not just avoid sugar, it's avoid hidden sugars. You'd be surprise to find sugar in every package including salt which has added dextrose.

      Sugar itself is exactly the problem. I challenge you to find any other item that causes the hormonal responses sugar does, in as small of a dosage as sugar can. Sweeteners provide no caloric benefit, yet begin fat storage and lower physical and mental activity - I don't know of any other food that does that. It can be argued that they can be used for addition of glucose to the muscle, which for the sake of fairness, is a true statement and they are particularly efficient at it; however, gluconeogenesis can achieve the same effect without adversely raising insulin level, suppressing ghrelin levels, and affecting a whole host of other hormones.
      The less sugar you use, the better off you are. Especially when talking about someone who is already insulin resistant and has "a few added pounds," or worse, is considered obese.

    From 4:40-5:10... no shit. really? You're a doctor and it took Crossfit to get you to approach how you practice medicine from a manage issues to curing issues mindset. No Wonder so many people are chronically ill. Not to rip on the dude in this video only, my own personal GP doc doesn't get much of this and seems offended when I discuss cure vs treat. On the upside, guess you're thinking properly now so that's nice.

      T Tzolov So knees don’t get inflammation and swelling? Then have someone hit you in the knee with a hammer every day for a year and then let us know how that works out for you....

      I thought he was using the knee thing as a metaphor for those butterfly pull-ups. Surely they cause the same thing. Destroing the joint.

    how does crossfit cure alzheimer's? as far as I am aware there is no cure for it?

    • @scotty8190
      @scotty8190 6 років тому +1

      vfxforge was is the cause of Alzheimer’s?
      Recommended reading “Brain Maker”, check it out 👍 CrossFit’s prescription and the book is the same, stop eating sugar, reduce inflammation, reduce the associated health risks

    • @MegaBaron77
      @MegaBaron77 6 років тому +2

      Alzheimer is also named Diabetis Typ3 by some. Your Braincells can no longer use Energy provided by sugar.
      So they dimm down and die.
      Low Sugar lifestyle can prevent that in many cases i would think.
      In many cases already adding a tablespoon of mct-oil or coconutoil seems to help people with alzheimer in getting a clearer mind.
      A ketogenic diet even more.
      Not a Doc , just reead it somewhere in the web , do your own research if needed.

    • @jarettm7147
      @jarettm7147 6 років тому +1

      Not a cure, a prevention. A diet of fish oil, exercise, and mental stimulus are preventative. The "crossfit" system prevents it. He stated at the end it is a preventative.
