As a business consultant, and coach, one of the very first things I work with my clients on is getting crystal clear as to what it is they they want. Focus is one thing but there’s no chance in hell for you if you don’t have clarity in what it is that you want first - otherwise every single goal you set will be meaningless and you’re going to fail almost every time. The second main point JP notes at the end is the critical nature of the value of time and we underestimate and undervalue this pathetically! When business owners complain they don’t have enough time - their real issue isn’t the numbers in the day (we are all given the same!) - the issue is in their inability to leverage their time well.

I know this will sound cliche, but you have power in the present moment. You could do this exercise of let's say, where you want to be in a year, or 3. And work your way towards that. Wishing you hope and determination and light 🙏🙏
Setting a goal that motivates can be hard but if you really think about what you want in the next 1 - 5 years (not what you can have but what you actually desire), it helps. Like Jim Rhon said "set a goal that'll make you stretch that far, for what it'll make of you to achieve it"

What if you dont know what you want? What should my schedule look like? I've thought it about it intensley for the last 5 years or so and I have no idea what to do.
You should assess your life. I found Peterson's self authoring helpful personally, but there's plenty of other tools too. I like to do a life wheel, or the proust questionnaire every once in a while. Even journaling 30 mins a day, stream of consciousness could help. Anything that helps you with insight & dialogue with yourself Lmk if this helps
Like, the stuff he was saying about letting your personality inform your goals. One of your life goals could be "have amazing friends". (it's one of mine, I lean agreeable). That's not very conventional, but it just makes sense, plus it makes me enjoy my life way more & actually helps with a ton of other things. I've put a lot of time & attention & care into my friends -- upkeeping old ones, making new ones, disagreements, disappointment, negotiating boundaries, learning. So your goal can be smth like that, it fills your soul, even if you think "this shouldn't be a goal bc (blablabla)", smth that's hard to argue with.

write it all down...
visualize what you want to do and how to accomplish it, write it down and then structure it in a useful way.
@@MrFunMonk I think i undeerstand what u said, I guess i m just lazy cause i know what is meaningfull for me but I still say never mind I play videogames
@@MrFunMonk how to develop clarity?
I suggest you read the book "Winning the Week" by Demir and Casey Bentley. It will give valuable insight regarding how to plan a week AND how to execute your plan. Best book so far.
You become what you think. So, think carefully))
What if you have low expectations from life, in that the way life is going, is good enough?

I wish I could have had this kind of help 40 years ago. Perhaps then I could have had the encouragement and support that I needed to navigate all of the betrayal, loss and tragedy exacted upon me by the military and their Marxist officers who took everything I earned, and destroyed my career. Now, it's too late.
I wish I knew this 20 years ago...

What if you can’t play a day you’d like because if you could plan a day you’d want, it would be nothing? Or just fun like gaming all day and watching tv? Anything work related is automatically a day I don’t want.
I know this is bad. I just need help and clarity.
Anything that helps you with insight & dialogue with yourself
Lmk if this helps
Like, the stuff he was saying about letting your personality inform your goals. One of your life goals could be "have amazing friends". (it's one of mine, I lean agreeable). That's not very conventional, but it just makes sense, plus it makes me enjoy my life way more & actually helps with a ton of other things. I've put a lot of time & attention & care into my friends -- upkeeping old ones, making new ones, disagreements, disappointment, negotiating boundaries, learning.
So your goal can be smth like that, it fills your soul, even if you think "this shouldn't be a goal bc (blablabla)", smth that's hard to argue with.
very interesting
Is there even another option than a schedule?
People out there want a nice car , money, a partner , nothing wrong with that sadly they have no idea what happiness truly is because inside their heart they are blind following that they have to do the things they dont wana do
Because it's close enough. I don't necessarily follow these things. Necessarily.
But I do. Because it's close enough. You take a test. 💯 score A+ you've passed. 70 percent is the cut off for fail. If you get a 70 score. You've passed. Passing is still passing.
We're looking for practical solutions that are immediate not Buddha solutions. Not dissing Buddha. I've read his teachings.
Happiness isn't important. It's not. Being really really miserable and avoiding it. Is wonderfully important.
The problem isnt the plan, the problem is what life do you want to have?
I don't maybe a simple one with a 9-5 job and after sometime I want to becoming a monk in Himalayan region ( I live close to Himalayas)
My ideal is having enough money to live like Paris Hilton, so I can be rich and feel so entitled I never have to do anything for anyone else. I used to want to make a difference in the world. Right now, I'm tired, burned out and probably depressed. He doesn't mention being realistic or mentally healthy. I think his plan probably has to involve that though.
am 25 here, i wanna know how the damn we gotta know or come to a point where we know that this xyz vision is what i want for my life, ik its basic maybe like see who you don't wanna become, to be specific am doing a chartered accountancy course similar to cpa but in india, but i am not able to see any vision in that or life in general in relationships, or career.

I have no time to plan how I'd like to live and follow that plan, cause I have to live my real life.
Otherwise, how can I create such wealth to clone unicorns that poop rainbows and burp fairydust what has the limitless capability to heal cancer ?
I am 40 and kind of done. But I can still become a politician 😁
How are people getting late to that class?
I enjoy Petersen telling teens how stupid they are with their life choices :D
If I could go back and slap myself for wasting so many years on WoW, when I could have been making my first video game and released it. Built a business and today been living the dream life. my gawd!
you could still start that business
don’t think for a second just because you missed the train, that doesn’t mean there never another train.
you made those decisions and you might be behind many, the only way you make up that time begins with starting.
quit pinning stuff on a version of you that you can’t change. blame your current self for not starting that business and get to work.
@@Mich-jk2ze Work is in progress, but back in my teens I had plenty of TIME, to do those things.. NOW I have a fulltime job doing bs stuff for others, for a good enough salary, but when you get home, you have the wife, Dog / kids, cooking, cleaning, and eating.. then your mind is barely able to put words together in a cohesive sentence anymore, and you end up doing some entertainment for an hour, then go to bed, and repeat. Weekends are too short and few, holidays usually planned out by wife / dog / kids etc..
Its not the will, its the energy level, and Time ..
Also there were several financial trains i missed, that are too late now, example BitCoin was dirt cheap back then, tesla stock was dirt cheap, vestas stock dirt cheap, etc, and I had involvement in all of it, or had opportunities and chose not to do it, because playing games was more interesting..
I did not plan on Jordan Peterson stalking me.
I can’t have a goal, the posts get moved by those closets to me. Nobody wants me to succeeded, and they’ll sabotage it because of their egos.
Sounds like maybe a case of narcissists ( & the spoons parable, hell vs heaven). If so, are you able to go no-contact with them? If not, you could grey rock. And take some time to figure out your own goals.

How does one become the DJ at a strip club.. 1) DJ Skills, start making playlists that girls like to dance to 2) Visit strip clubs a lot - for research
Notes:
50% of your schedule
done is good
Bargain with yourself
Why he have to say 40🤔
Jordan Peterson does have a lot of profound thoughts though.
I'm about to be 40 🤯
I fear the life I want is far gone for someone like me at this point. I won't have what I want, ever.
Who is someone like you?
KFC founder Colonel Sanders didn’t start KFC until he was 65. It’s never too late. Read Atomic Habits and start with building a different identity compared to “someone like me”. James Clear said: “Your behaviors are usually a reflection of your identity. What you do is an indication of the type of person you believe that you are-either consciously or nonconsciously.* Research has shown that once a person believes in a particular aspect of their identity, they are more likely to act in alignment with that belief.” Read the book and it will teach you how to start. Message me and I can help (free). Good luck!
Does it have to do with your age, if you don't mind me asking?
I think it's safe to say the people in this comments section believe in you, right as you are now. You might like to make all sorts of rationale (excuses) for why you're the most special case & so the rules that apply to everyone don't apply to you. But if you look at it like this, stripped of narrative, objectively, doesn't that ring false to you? Doesn't that sound like ego talking?
I would dare to say you can work on your life. Wherever you are today. And you have no idea what sorts of miracles may open to you, if & when you open to life like this. Nature rewards courage. I believe in you 🙏 God bless you

Dude says IQ is genetically inherited industrioussness is genetically inherited so success is also genetic.
Yes, exactly. In the same not having success is also very inheritable. But the thing is they're only predictors of success, it's mostly a numbers game. Having high industrious and IQ does not necessarily mean you will be successful at all, it means youre more likely to
Working memory is innate & unchangeable (mostly) too, and it plays a big role in being able to pay attention to what information is important (eg, determining a goal from an ill-defined primordial sludge).
But I have seen people work miracles with atomic habits, in just last 5 years, so it's not all hopeless.
Lmao the watermark in the bottom left. A re-upload of an upload of someone else who uploaded.
@_ hilarious
Official channel means it should be better at crediting the effort of Bite-Sized philosophy (the watermark) 🤷♀️ BSP actually really helped propogate a lot of these clips & ideas, BSP got so many views bc he did a good job picking out material & packaging them.
I don't see anything in the video description acknowledging that, which is a little sad
Industriousness....
this whole process sounds like suffering
And doing nothing sounds like even more suffering to me
Plan only to give your life away, it's not your life to have
You should come to terms with the reality of life . . .no matter how good your plan is, there is always one more son of a bitch than you counted on.
He just described my life as a 27 year old bum perfectly.
I planned a life I'd like to have then terrorists and corrupt medical ruined it now I'm just all brain damaged
