this is too beautiful for words. this collabo was almost heavenly and meant to be. argubly, stevie channeled donny hathaway as early as 1969. both were very soulful & similar. worth hearing by donny is a strong live version of superwoman by stevie wonder that was unreleased for years until they put it on the recent "from donny with love" live cd.

I would bet that the people here criticizing the bass player don't play any instrument at all. He plays with a good groove. Nobody knows every song on call. It's a jam session for God's sake! It ain't gonna be perfect. But it is very good. (All of them)
While Stevie and Layla clearly shined on this, I wanna acknowledge Sheila's musical maturity. She could've torn it up when Stevie was soloing (especially when he started hinting at that quasi-songo groove - and she briefly played along when he seemed to be going that way), but she just supported him and Lalah. A less mature musician might've looked at this as a chance to show off in front of The Maestro, but Sheila just gave them that rock-solid pocket to sit in. Love her!
