Nice video. I'm looking at trading for one of these to make it my first sail boat. This lets me see what they are really like inside and out since the one i'm interested in is a few hours away.
I just bought a San Juan mark ii myself. I think those trailer cross members are supposed to be bowed? It makes the boat easier to launch off of the trailer.
Thanks for the comment, you are probably right. I ended up welding a square tube across it and had to raise up the bow roller an inch and half. It sits real nice in the trailer now but I have thought about taking it back out. I have gotten some other projects done and need to get them edited and loaded up. Thanks for taking the time to watch.
So your missing the starboard divider wall and marine head, still nice start though.but the cross members are supposed to be kind of straight, that happens when you load it with the keel down, check the side rails if they are straight then it's a mild curve, but if the side rails bent inward it bowed from boats weight on keel. the leafsprings on the original trailer were junk, very lightweight I have the same issue just a little more play. But the cross members get weight of boat they bend easy.
Stupid question of all stupid questions...Do you have any idea what the name of the song is that you play throughout this video. I think it's from Windham Hill, but not sure of the artist or song
Thanks for sharing. I was just given a San Juan 21 MK2. I’m looking forward 😊to a summer of sailing.
Beautiful. Thanks for doing this!
THIS VIDEO MADE MY MIND UP ON THE 1981 SAN JUAN 21 FOR ME THIS SPRING....THANKS...
Great little boats. Sail upwind like a witch.
