    On episode 18 of this series, I highlighted this potential issue, many months later, I paid the price of my overconfidence.
    It's doubly painful when you knew the risk, a probability, and this applies to every single fish and shrimp of any aquarium.

    Listen to your parents, protect yourself, use a cover, even if you don't like the feeling.

  • @leonelreo

    Magnificent, as (amazingly) usual. The covers suck, but they are a must-have. Sometimes they jump even having a cover. Gobies, wrasses and clowns ALWAYS jump. It's only a matter of time and having the right cover.

    I've made that mistake... once. Had a lid on order and unfortunately our little "chimoso" was found by the wife a few days prior to it arriving.
    We find ourselves in a peculiar position: we enjoy the hobbie because of the journey, what we achieve, the beauty of it all however we are caretakers of living creatures. The balance necessary sometimes makes you wonder if we're doing the "right thing" in keeping these short lived creatures.
    Lesson learned, my role now with the nano is keeping it as safe for its inhabitants even if it doesn't "look" the way I would love it would.

    I have to admit I feel guilty clicking like on this video, not because it's not a good video, it's great, but how can I like your Goby dying?
    When you got him I was intrigued and am now getting one for my tank. He just looked like he had lots of personality. Sad to see him go.
    Setting aside the sadness this video is one of your best IMO. Probably this one and I really liked the one when you added the him and the shrimp.
    The music choices are amazing, I honestly felt true sadness. It's amazing how much the music adds to the quality of the video.
    Keep the videos coming.

    Nice video. I know that kind of feeling, i recently start freshwater aquascape hobby, i'll try my best to get balance enviroment for the inhabitant, but somehow there is always some fish or shrimp died or jump over the tank.

    I am very sorry for your loss. This is very sobering to me as I keep a shrimp goby pair in a nano reef without any kind of lid (I have a glass one but it traps heat and is difficult to deal with) I however may start to use it again in learning from your (and many reefers before me) mistakes

    • @AquaSplendor
      @AquaSplendor  3 роки тому

      Yeah I feel bad for the shrimp, he's less active since.
      Summer is arriving, can't use my glass cover anymore (heat like you mention)

    Can anyone tell me what are the challenges? I feel like I’m not prepared for what’s coming for my 20 gallon tank everything is running smoothly for 3 months now (without corals) I’m very interested to know.

    • @AquaSplendor
      @AquaSplendor  3 роки тому

      Depends on your corals and fish and invertebrates. Just keep a maintenance routine with water change and you should be fine. Don't overfeed.

    I had mated clowns in my Evo for 6 months before one jumped out. I ordered a top immediately and lost a 6 line and watchman before it got here. Expensive roll of the dice. I still don't like the look of my mesh top but it is what it is.

    I love your videos but I personally disagree with the; "Risk comes from not knowing what you're doing." quote.
    I love racing, drifting and participate in drift track days occasionally and from my experience, professional drifting is pretty risky. Even know you might have been on the same track 10,000 times. One single mistake by you or someone else in certain situations could be bad, at worst fatal. I think it's just Murphy's Law? Which is still haunting and annoying as hell if you want everything to be perfect.
