Is "Jaws down" something you see fairly often in the fleet? I came here from another channel that had the jaws facing down. You have the jaws facing up, which is what I've always been taught, and agreed with (even in the lightest airs I've never had a spinnaker guy want to "drop free").
On the 420 the jaws face up because the eyestrap on the pole for the topping lift orients them up. On all keelboats ive been on its jaws down unless its a gybing pole (doesn't detach from mast for gybe).
