It was an instant classic. A great competition between Buhr, Wysocki and McBeth.
I was standing a few feet behind the man when Gannon’s upshot went ob. He taunted Gannon, in Finnish though so couldn’t tell you what he said. Later I was standing right in front of him when he fake coughed and the pdga officials pointed him out immediately and he was escorted off by security. No doubt it was intentional. I clapped when he was escorted off, maybe you can hear that in the coverage. To me it seemed like he was very drunk.
The coughing dude in a yellow striped shirt can also be heard giving a round of applause when Gannon threw OB just a minute earlier. You can hear this in the PDGA highlights for the final round on UA-cam.

Buker…it’s a hard U. I know takes me a full round to keep our card mates straight some days let alone say their name correctly.
Cody played consistent golf throughout the event, Finley tried like crazy to get ahead and keep it but didn’t work out. Next year ought to be an epic battle in MJ10.

I just checked youtube to see if the rounds where available. I did not know about paid coverage. So, i just watched the highlights.
At Nokia you can just walk in and watch, the Beast is right next to the center of the city (VIPs have there their own area between holes 1 and 18 where they can meet players and see the starting and the end of the rounds close). In Tampere it was about $20 to go see to some areas at some holes, and about $60 to walk a round with a card (this included also e.g. food) *edit: Didn't go myself this year, but checked the pricing.. I live nearby
dude takes 45sec on 85% of throws. maybe it’s why i’m no good
He used too, but he has sped it up a lot with an average of 23.2 seconds per throw
the more you think about it, usually the worse you throw.
@@lynch42o this year he worked on not taking as long and obviously he has improved a lot. Not all of it has to do with that obviously but some for sure.
@@ThatcherBryan I watched the replay 1st round coverage of the krokol open and found myself skipping forward 30 secs on Gannons throws and it wasn't till he got a warning on hole 13 or so that he started consistently throwing in under 30 secs. Kind of absurd, the problem is ppl wait till he has done it like 30 times before finally calling a warning on him. I used to find him annoying, but he won me over after his interviews on tour life podcast, but this shit has got be cleaned up.
I caved and upgraded to pro. Just went back in and went back down to standard. I don't mind giving a few extra bucks this month. But hate that I have to go in and upgrade then remember to cancel.

Omg… what do you people want for her to do to prove her ability to do comeback correctly. Fact is that she played really good last round, catching leader at one moment and this +9 from Evelina was a result of frustration that she lost the lead. Tattar did not let this 3rd day bad play and 7 stroke difference to scare her and went to attack mode and took down two good players - just amazing focus and determination - most players just give up, but she did not!
@@rv2192 I don't think Darb was trashing Tattar or doubting her ability. But it remains that if someone coughs up a lead do you say that the person that beat them in the end had a huge comeback or do you put the blame where it belongs and say that the former leader self-destructed?

When you're playing well and in your right mind distractions don't affect you. Multiply that crowd size by 100 and consider the distractions that can come from that size audience. One cough, one sneeze, one baby crying or a drunk fan trying to be funny should not affect your pre-shot routine or your shot when you are focused.

They’re using consumer-grade LiveU wireless camera systems that don’t have the greatest compression quality. Better systems cost exponentially more. Live broadcast with wireless cameras is incredibly difficult and expensive. It sucks but they just need more money to make it better.
Be careful. Fanboys don’t like it when anyone criticizes their beloved DGN. They have a whole bag filled with excuses for them.

I think your channel highlights the problems with DGN very well. You've done a better job at commenting and putting up highlights for this week's discgolf than DGN did, and they presumably get paid to do it. I have no problem with paying for discgolf, but I want to pay for a product that doesn't annoy me to no end. Discgolf is unfortunate in the sense that it competes with larger sports with far bigger budgets and so as fans, we have to accept that the product is worse than all other mainstream sports. I'm also sure there are inherent limitations in what DGN are able to do that are unknown to viewers and I'm also sure that there are people working on making the product better in ways that are inaccessible to us currently. With that said, I think there are limits to how bad the product can be while still wanting to pay for it.
They've added pausing and forward/rewind, great! But forwarding 30 seconds is far too much, it should be 5 seconds in each direction. Watching Gannon's putting routine is torture, but you can't press forward because then you'll likely forward through the put, so 30 seconds is simply too long. I always watch the first live round (if I watch it at all, that is) on UA-cam, because the player is far superior.
The graphics are more often wrong than right and often contain local spoilers. You see a player line up for a 40 foot put and the graphic says "player putting for par from two feet", oh great, I already know he missed!
The editing of camera angles is sometimes very strange. You get to look at the player instead of the throw, or you get to see a very strange angle or a drone shot so that you have no idea where the shot ends up.
The leaderboard is rarely shown so you really have to use a separate app or website if you want to understand how the field is doing overall.
People will always have different opinions on commentators and which are good and which are bad. I'll simply say that I think Big Jerm does a better job at live coverage than all the others, good for him!
But the worst thing, by far, is that we now get too see less discgolf than we have last year. Last year you could see chase cards on Gatekeeper and sometimes third cards on other channels. Now you get to see those cards for a few holes on live coverage or if those players happen to play well. But if you're a fan of Wysocki, Heimburg or a Robinson brother, and they aren't playing well, you may not see them for an entire week (like this week with Calvin, for instance). Now that could happen last year too, but last year you got to see other cards in other coverage, now that footage simply doesn't exist. So discgolf footage has decreased in 2024 which I think is very bad if we want to grow the sport.
I've written all of this down previously because I plan on submitting it to DGN as feedback and it having absolutely no effect at all.
Companys need to understand that making things more expensive don't mean you earn more money xD
Getting more people to buy it makes your more money. Instead of getting 10 people who pay 1000 dollars. It's easier to get 1000 people to pay 10 dollars. Make it acceable bye everyone instead if you wanna make money

while i agree that they need money etc.. disc golf is too small of a sport to be put behind a paywall like that.. you need to get eyes on it etc.. as far as the money side of it.. of course these things cost money and you can get that money through sponsors and patreon. imagine between each hole shouting out a sponsor like omaha steaks etc until eventually you have nike and addidas looking to sponsor things and then everyone wins
@@deadstarr7 they don’t get it. Growing a business doesn’t mean charging top dollar to try and make money this early on. Break even or post a loss for the first 10 years. Grow the audience and then charge. Shame not smart people are running disc golf. Reducing its reach yearly. Sad.
The real reason why EO and USDGC are behind paywall are broadcast rights. All other events are owned by DGPT or PDGA. These two major events are owned and organized by two separate private companies and DGN has to buy the broadcast rights. You could say that DGN just have to deal with that, but at least for now they pass some of the extra cost to customers

I had to double take cuz I didn't hear 8 and under before you showed the winner with a +80 and told me they had the lead the whole tournament.
I watched the highlights on the coughing incident and instantly was like that was sabotage by someone in the crowd no doubt. That instantly made me root for Buhr.
I suppose it is a challenge of quick recaps, but your review of MPO made me wonder if you didn't watch it or didn't understand it. The European Open was decided by somewhere between 6 and 12 inches. The difference between what you described and what happened makes me wonder how much of FPO I don't understand having only listened to your recap. I really want to enjoy your channel, but it will require more accuracy and less clickbait until I can. I appreciate your work and I hope that it continues to improve. As I am dropping this whiney comment I would also add that a process of reviewing your scripts and highlighting the whining and making sure it is in the 5-10% range max rather than the 35-75% range would be a quick improvement to listenability. I am rooting for you and looking forward to what you do at Ledgestone.

I am a certified disc golf junkie for many years now for both content and playing in local tournaments. I will not pay DGN that much for a tournament. I will just skip watching the European open and USDGC.
I have a brand new baby and was going to watch it all by myself so paying an extra $140 to watch this and USDGC isn’t worth it to me especially after I purchased the NFL package.
