As a young mother with sons and daughters now being divorced young after being completely in love and leaving their dad and having time to reflect. I completely understand the MESSGE here and I agree. I would tell my sons as teens the same thing. Especially after meeting and being married to their father at such a young age and being attached to him at the hip. I watched this man’s mental health deteriorate as time went on and we got older and he made a lot of hurtful decisions because he was lost , he didn’t understand his purpose all the while trying to keep me happy and sustain himself , and go to work to make Barely enough to take care of all of us and all the while being a kid and a teen father and trying to put me first, and than as an adult. One day I came to my senses after being selfish and realized that was a lot for a man to take no wonder he eventually had a mental breakdown in his mid twenties. He had so much potential and I was selfish because I become a codependent and just as much as he took from me I took from him. I didn’t mean to do this to him but when I took the time to reflect on how my actions impacted the way he treated me and our relationship ended and that I was part of the problem it changed my outlook on relationships and the situation I was in. The victim mindset went away. As for my kids father he is now doing mentally better without me because he doesn’t feel the pressure of trying to live up to my expectations and being able to focus on his purpose and what he wants out of life and for our children he is a great father and matter of fact he has the majority of custody with our kids.
