Something my dad learned in Israel. The eye of the needle is not a sewing needle it’s actually a small door inside of the large gate. They would make the visitors come through the “eye of the needle” with their camels. They would have to unpack the camel to squeeze through. That way they could not bring in weapons. 💕
It’s actually not true. It’s an actual needle that we know of, like for sewing. Joe Kirby got it wrong too and mentioned the correction near the end of his latest video. It’s the video about why God might be isolating you, and at the end he humbles himself and mentions some things he was mistaken on in the past, the needle being one of them.
@@valeriereneeharper hmm… idk. In Israel the Jewish guide walked them through the door and told them it was called the eye of the needle and what it was used for. That is interesting I will look into it.

Dianna have you seen the video or pictures that talk about the doorways through the city gates in Bible times? They were very short and narrow and it was hard to get camels through. They called them the eye of the needle. Hence it was hard to get a camel through the eye of the needle. 😊
Yes! This is one theory about the passage. Or that the Greek word for camel is also very close to “cable” (like what’s used in ships) which also would be as difficult as yarn through a plastic needle 😆 All possibilities! Thank you for adding to the conversation!
Hi!! Thanks for the video! I appreciate the message and prayer! Have you ever heard of the ‘eye of the needle’ actually being a doorway? You can find a picture on google of a large gate blocked off and there is just one small doorway left. The camel would have to crouch down and bow his head, humbling himself to get through the doorway. I’m not sure if it’s accurate, but something I came across. God bless!!💜💜💜💜

Diana, just for future reference, take a small piece of scotch tape and wrap it around the end of the yarn. It will look like of like a shoelace (flatten as needed) or best ever, take a tooth flossing threader and use that to thread any needle. They work great even for regular sewing needles. That's what I use. I did the scotch tape method before someone shared the floss threader idea with me. I also love what you wrote, so very true of what's important and what isn't.
This was fun :) I have a tip I picked up that I believe is pretty neat that people may not think of with cardigans. I bought a long sleeve one and a short sleeve that I can wear both as tops alone and also over top of a blouse as well. You can pick your appropriate style neckline you prefer. This gives you options in wearing it! Thank you for your tips too!

I am a senior citizen and when I pack for me and my husband to go for a week to visit our grown kids and grown grandchildren I take my very favorite, comfortable, correct colors. I spend a week knowing that whatever I pick to wear that day will work and I will love what I’m wearing. So when I downsize my wardrobe I pretend that I’m going on that trip. I only keep the pieces that I would put in that suitcase. Donna
I think we have adapted the "Eye of the Needle Gate" as what we know as the eye of the sewing needle. The Gate is in Jerusalem, which opened after the main gate was closed at night and was something the people of that day could relate to. I’ve already started with the May challenge. I don’t want prizes, it has just already made me feel better! Thanks for this challenge!
Seeing you talk about this issue of getting everything together and starting to take it to the donation center is exactly what I need to hear. Hearing you talk through these items and your reasons for getting rid of them is very helpful. We at home are sitting with our items doing the same thing. It’s encouraging to have a body double with the same action. I would love more videos around this. I have the knowledge of what to do, tips and tricks, which are great but it’s the heart ties connected to stuff and the next step of bringing it to take it to the center that can be hard. I love how you tie it to my faith. The strength of my faith can redirect my mind in blessing others instead of scarcity or fear of loosing a memory of that time where I was wearing that top. ❤ Your quote brought me to tears several times as I relistened to it over and over. The memories we take with us to heaven! The relationships! I don’t have to fear loosing those! 🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻☝🏻
Diana, I don't mind the color of that top you're wearing! But if you're not comfortable, then get rid of it. But Dawn, I love your sweater/top! I thought this was a good video and encouraging. Thank you!
I noticed several months back that I own zero pastels in my closet, I don’t look good in pale light colors. Now that I am aware of this, I no longer stop to look at anything that color bc it’s a waste of my time to try on or purchase online.
I am not religious (lost it in the last years), but „travel light“ really speaks to me. Your freer to follow your own path, your less likely to act egoistic. It’s known that the more you have the more your afraid to lose it. It’s stress and stressed people tend to be unkind and people with fear of losing their wealth won’t fight for social equality and justice. And - even if I am not religious anymore - that was what Jesus fought for.
Diana, I loved this conversation. That is one of my favorite scripture stories. I especially love Matthew 19:16 where the rich young ruler says, "what lack I yet?' That can be a scary question to ask specifically what we individually to change within ourselves. for that man it was his wealth. for me, it could be something else, and you another. Whatever the Lord's answer, we have to exercise faith in Him. I tried this once and was so worried I would have to do something really really hard like sell my house or something like that. What it was though was an answer of a small change I needed to make in my life. Nothing huge and completely doable. It was completing a small act of service for a friend. I know God loves and knows each one of us and knows our needs. Perhaps someday I will be told to sell all of my possessions but for now He is meeting me where I am and what is attainable for me right now. I don't know if I explained this well but basically Jesus knows what is best for us and what we need to improve each day and draw closer to and become more like him. I know if pray in faith, we can have the help we seek to strengthen our weaknesses.
I chuckled wondering, were you hiding in the bathroom? With four children I can see how you might have to. I only had two and I could never go in and be alone until they were much older. LOL Enjoy watching both of you, especially together. Wonderful content. I dodge migraines and fibro so my "bingo card" is usually in the form of emails, prayer etc. I used to get so upset at myself for not being able to plan things, to go help or whatever. I managed more in the earlier years, but the last ten have been harder. I'm thankful the Lord continues to use me if only in this way.
The eye of the needle is a narrow gate into Jerusalem. A camel had to walk through on his knees. A LOT of symbolism to “narrow is the gate to eternal life.” The eye of the needle is how someone had to travel through after dark when the city gate was closed.
That’s what Joe Kirby thought too but he corrected himself to learn the scripture meant an actual needle, like for sewing. Joe mentions it in his latest video toward the end when he talks about a few things he was mistaken on. The video is mostly about why God might be isolating you and at the end he chats a bit about some corrections.
I don’t know if it’s different in person but that blue shirt looks fabulous on Diana on video. The orangey flowey top did too. Maybe you all are somewhat neutral .
No no! That blue looks so pretty on you! Keep it!! I think we have a natural tendency to be drawn to colors that look good on us after a while. Wear the colors you love and who cares. But it is nice to know what colors look good on us too, remembering it’s just a suggestion. Love your message hear though. Really thinking about this lately.😊

I'm definitely a "winter". I found out when I was 18 years old. I am now 56.
The blue and white shirt is nice! Keep it!
I was thinking Diana's shirt was so pretty and brought out her eyes. I'm definitely NOT a fashion queen!
Diana and Dawn, Please do a video having you colors done so we can get some tips from you both.
Thank you!
Hahaha, you guys saying tunics are out, and I just wore one tonight 😂😂 Always love watching you girls!!
That's a very beautiful quote
Things will.come back inside style.... Things from my teens are now in the stores...
Maybe a helpful Mother's Day gift would be to get your colours done. ❤
I like the blue on you Diana , but when Dawn held up the green it looked even better .
Bless you both 💕🩵💕
Diana, I loved this conversation.
Migraines are a literal pain. So sorry you also suffer from them. 😢
Is Dawn really going to remember she has it??? I can't wait to find that out!
She should put a reminder message on her phone saying where she put it to come up on her birthday
I LOVE those embroidered pants 😂
What you wrote Diana is so beautiful and absolutely true. It gave me goosebumps. ❤
Diana, your hair looks beautiful.
I love that shirt on Dianna! And Dawn looks red to me, not crazy about her sweater
The eye of the needle was a small gate to enter the city.
My daughter: what are you watching?
Me: It’s my friends, Diana and Dawn 😊
I love the blue and white top on Diana too.
Diana, you need a specific place in your house for gifts. 😉
Dana says, where would you look first?
it is SO much easier to declutter clothes with another person; I take pics and send to my daughter for her y/n when we can't get together in person; works well and is so quick to do
I don’t have trouble I only let things go if they don’t fit or they are worn out
I think dark blue goes well with Diana"s blonde hair and blue eyes, maybe not so good with Dawn's hair color.
I am in the UK so joining your Bible study live would be tricky. But I’d love your notes so I could join you in spirit. Would that be possible? Thank you. Wendy xx
Sorry, but Diana 's shirt looks great on her. Even though you are a twin, you don't have to let Dawn choose what you like. I agree it makes her eyes stand out.
With the white it works. If it were solid bright blue, I agree it would be too intense
Thanks! This was great. “Travel light” is my new go to thought.
I really like the travel light when u said it that feeling of hitting my soul ❤beautiful and i love that u want to help us to do good in this world 🌎 ✨️ your may month challenge- just very nice
Simple cross stitch embroidery is an age-appropriate fine motor craft for young children. Be grateful and honor your mother.
❤ what you wrote about going home. Thank you, ladies. Just took 5 bags of kitchen stuff and clothes to Goodwill! Now I have room for my fall dish set in my kitchen cabinets. No more hauling bins upstairs. I will definitely use them more often this year. So that is a huge win for me! 🎉
Thanks! I wanted to cry when you read your quote, very true.
I did cry. Today is 3 months since my best friend aged 57 went home. Life is very short.
Yes, do your colors! That has helped me so much to minimize my wardrobe. Anne
Also the word for camel is the same as rope. I think that’s so neat.
Just subscribed...love you both!
❤ Love the earthly vacation reading!!!!!
God will provide whenever you need it 😊
I like Macy's, some of my best quality clothes came from there.
