And I'll be honest, with the saw mask I was first confused as to what he was doing with the glue and plastic and WHY he was painting it black. But to give it that real dummy, cracked porcelain look was freaken awesome.
One of my favourite parts of art is simulating weathering. Seeing the dirt and damage added on masks like Jason Voorhees’ is so satisfying. The way the scratches on the red paint were simulated is so nifty too! Also holy crap, I didn’t know there were varnishes that cracked on purpose! It makes sense for situations like this, of course, but I like how it existed as a targeted product at all.
As much as it shows the skill of the painter... It makes me think that the cheap base is a marvel of production. The mold of the mask with the creases in the perfect spots. I found the white washing of the Joker Mask show the craftsmanship of the maker. It is a mold ran by a machine, but someone had to design either the software on the original mold. Petty they don't get much respect

The original paint of that Joker mask kinda made it look like Beetlejuice lol, but your repaint brought it to life👏🙌🤙 The molding of that mask was decent, but your paint job brought out every small detail. I love this type of content❤️

i always thought it was a shame, the molds arent bad, some are actually pretty detailed, but they put 2cents of effort into painting them for mass production… you did a great job!
Really enjoyed this. I one time right after I moved to LA I got an art gig where I had to repaint severed heads from party city to make them look real in a battlefield field scene. Easy way to paint them was to put them on spikes around my apartment while they dried. Luckily no new neighbors came to drop off cookies or anything haha.
The hockey mask gets my vote, simply for its amount of reasonability. As well as the fact that looks the coolest in my opinion I love the weathering, as well as the liquid latex method.
Great job! I once went to a door on Halloween and told the guy he was wearing cool makeup, then afterwards realized he had his ass kicked. I think he was proud to answer the door with his grotesquely swollen face with cuts and dents and bruises. I’m sure he was a great father.

This uploader has painted more than one mask, and paints sculptures (with precision, texture and detail too). That seems a lot more like hard work than what the factory paint jobs look like. I mean have you ever bought one of those cheap ass masks before? The paint jobs are just terrible! Embarrassing even.

I love how you kept the bases so close to their original moulds, shows just how much difference a skilled paint job can make when bringing it to life. I especially loved the detail of using tape to add the distressed red marks on Jason’s mask, definitely trying that

These are all amazing! You really brought out the detail from these off-the-shelf masks! I love going to Spirit Halloween and seeing what they have to offer. You can often find pieces that look like foam cast garbage, but the detail is there under the terrible paint job. Its always fun bringing them to life with some thoughtful painting. I hope you do more in this series, maybe some of those cheap prop guns/swords from the halloween store. You need a Machete to go with that Jason mask now!
My favorite part of this is that too make most of them look realistic you have to make it look like they've been through Hell. I'd love to see a series (I'm convinced it would be more than one video) on, basically, "How to Make a Proper Mess" Detailing different ways to imitate different types of "defects" like the imperfections of the mask from "Saw" mimicking paper maché (lol, I can't remember his name) and the grime and wear on Jason.

Can I say one thing, the molds look good (exept for the V mask), the issue is that that's all the budget went into and the original paint work was incredibly cheap, and my personal favorite (from personal bias seeing as I do it from time to time) is the Jason mask but all of them look amazing
