- Omen of the Stars is the finale to the first era of Warriors. There’s a massive sense of scale and emotion that comes with losing some well-loved characters and fighting a conglomerate of every Warriors villain of the past. Many of the side stories are beautiful and our protagonists are all…almost all, fun characters to watch. But it’s also…kind of a mess. Now it’s time to iron out the biggest reasons as to why.
This episode also uses some new poses I just finished. I do have another episode left with the old poses that I made before I finished these that will be coming out later, but afterwards these will be the standard.

Moral of OoTs: You can train with actual literal serial killers and still be forgiven as long as you say you're sorry. Man, this book killed more cats in my eyes than Tigerstar Sr. could ever hope to. (Except you Ivypool, you actually worked to redeem yourself as a character so we're cool)

How to add more to their numbers:
1) trick cats into coming to the Dark Forest at least once
2) should the cat refuse to stay, kill them there and then, while they are still dreaming and in the Dark Forest
3) cat is now trapped in the Dark Forest like Antpelt was, so wait for the Dark Forest to corrupt their spirit like the books say would happen to them
on that 3rd point, is that actually what happens? i thought antpelt went to the dark forest because he preferred it to starclan, not because he died there
@@clawcakes The 5th book of The Broken Code, The Place of No Stars, says the Dark Forest can ‘turn a good cat bad’ at least 8 times. Totally fine if you haven’t read it, just thought I’d mention that.

@@clawcakes I thought the "turn a good cat bad" thing was older than The Broken Code tbh. It was something in my head before it started, but maybe it was headcanon I mistook for canon.
this is why i say the dark forest should have had a whole secret about killing trainees once they've reached as much use as they can get out of them being alive, now THATS stakes!
I wish they gave Hollyleaf a power related to justice and intelligence and made HER the fourth cat
Firestar's arc was over they should have left him there

I just had an idea. I was thinking about the Three's powers actually coming from the Ancients themselves, and them reincarnations of a stoneteller, cave-guard, and prey-hunter. What if it was needed because the Dark Forest is teaming with spirits of the Ancients (and perhaps even the Tribe of Rushing Water)? There'd be some parallels to Tigerclan seeking the help of Bloodclan to increase their army, and it would possibly explain how the Dark Forest found their way to the living cats once they got to the Lake Territories (and give purpose to the tunnels and Rock).
A way better plan for the Dark Forest would've been to change the culture of the Clans through their rigorous training. Once you have enough cats on your side, those cats will train their own apprentices (both in the dark forest and in the waking world), and so on and so forth, until training with the Dark Forest is commonplace. It would've been a much slower burn, but it would've made way more sense than "attack four whole clans with an army of maybe 30 cats". Instead of just defeating everyone in battle, Ivypool would've been tasked with secretly trying to sway other warriors back toward the warrior code and away from the dark forest's influence, not helped by StarClan's fracturing.
My theory is that Tigerstar mainly used the other Dark Forest cats including Brokenstar (the leader) so he could get a shot at Firestar.
I like omen of the stars I just wish there was more interactions of reunions and settling old scores. Like darkstripe interacting with his old apprentice dustpelt and fighting gray stripe. Or blue star fighting thistleclaw and brambleclaw having a longer fight with hawk frost

I haven't even watched the video yet, but as soon as the ad's over, my eyes are blessed--your new sprites are *gorgeous* ! I especially love the transition from sock-like paws to the beautiful little feet that Sunny's got, and it's just... it's just gorgeous, chef's kiss!
The expressions are somehow even better, too! Even if the changes are small, you've improved a lot!
It's kind of disappointing how they didn't write in some kind of intel that Ivypool could bring back to make her position as a spy pay off in the narrative. Dovewing finds out where/when they're attacking with her powers anyways
Yeeah, OOTS was what made me take a decade-long break from Warriors. I already hadn't been a huge fan of PO3 (I wasn't really a fan of any of the three), having to read Lionblaze and Jayfeather POVs AGAIN and dragging out the plot so much was too much for me. I stopped at Sign of the Moon and to this day I haven't finished the arc because I just can't put myself through it again!
Too bad OotS is that bad honestly, I really recommend the arcs after it too, aVoS and DotC if haven't read that arc yet, theyre actually really good in some places and have amazing characters like Needletail (aVoS) and Grey Wing (DotC)
I honestly loved PO3, probably my favourite arc despite its flaws just because it had such engaging characters and a unique story, I love character-driven stories and the twist at the end was actually very surprising to me, it was great and emotional
OoTS though.. ugh. I read like 3 books of this arc and I can't bring myself to read the next one, I was actually surprised by this because even my least favourite arc to that point (New Prophecy) I could read fully despite forgetting most plot points. I absolutely love Dovepaw/wing, Ivypaw/pool and Jayfeather so that arc should be great for me but because it tells unnecessary details, in the end gives characters no choices to make and things just happen "the way they should" it's such a drag for me and I can't bring myself to finish it. I'll read the books I have just for the sake of it but I'm much more engaged in reading Crookedstar's Promise now
I absolutely skipped Fading Echoes three times and was so confused every time--we get Ivypaw training, Dovepaw revealing her powers to her sister, and the tree falling in the camp. So you can imagine how befuddled I was
Firestar didn't die to a tree, he died of his injuries.
whyyy do so many people think a tree killed him. it was NEVER stated that it fell on him. he died from his injuries. it was said he was in the clearing and NOT crushed by a tree. it makes me so confused whyyyy

The dark forest might want to take over starclan to hv a better afterlife or something and cuz starclan disrespects them or something and they want power over the ones who banished them to the DF. To take over the clans, they could hv trained the living trainees to be more manipulative. The living trainees were easier to get to than leaders so they train them to turn their leaders mad or something and make them hate starclan (kinda like how bluestar hated starclan after like book 4 or somin but worse) which could make the leaders tell the clan to fight with the dark forest. Thats how they can make the living trainees on their side without telling them to kill any of their clanmates

I didn’t like their rivalry either. I feel like it was very, very short and boring.
Edit: I still think so lol. I wish the rivalry made more sense? Because sometimes Ivypaw despises Dovepaw as she tries to get close to her and other times she’s cool with her and suddenly she hates her again and it just.. doesn’t feel like there is a rivalry? There is jealousy, but it doesn’t feel as big as everyone makes it out to be, at least to me.
I have a headcanon that Ivypool is actually the third cat. While most of this is bias towards her and hatred towards StarClan, I think StarClan granted Dovewing powers to make Ivypool jealous, and turn her into an agent in the Dark Forest. This is supported by how simple dove’s powers are in comparison to the other two, and also stems from a small headcanon of mine that Hollyleaf also had powers but never realized them and instead “went wrong”. Idk.
Even if they killed all the clan cats they'd go to starclan and the battle would continue with the clan cats free of wounds and the dark forest cats most likely getting tired out so star can would win and series would end unless they find a way to come back to live or something?

Some things that would have made OotS better:
Ivypool is the villain. Please, she had everything set up, her jealousy was able to drive her ambition single-handedly and her not being evil just made her so inconsistent, not to mention she's a bad spy.
Dovewing spies on the Dark Forest. It's shown that her powers can stretch out to the Dark Forest, so it would be great if we dumped her love triangle like the toxic mess it is and let her have just a bit more to do. Bonus points if Dovewing decides to spy by herself and without Jayfeather or Lionblaze having any say in it.
Lionblaze is Ivypool's mentor. This ties into the first point. Ivypaw is apprenticed to Lionblaze, he starts neglecting her training in favor of the prophecy, and this kickstarts the conflict between Dovewing and Ivypool.
Hollyleaf doesn't come back. Sorry not sorry, she should have stayed a villain and become the impostor later on.
Lionblaze and Jayfeather have a genuine heart-to-heart conversation with Squirrelflight and Leafpool, leading to them forgiving the two and viewing Squirrelflight as their true mother (rightfully).
Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight discuss the secret. They make up, and while they don't get back together, Brambleclaw respects Squirrelflight's decision to lie about the three, understands why she did what she did, and views the three as his children. This gives him more reason to make her deputy; because he understands and can see how loyal and responsible Squirrelflight is. Again, they don't get back together, and I'm emphasizing that point.
ALSO: redo of the three's powers
Dovewing would keep her power as to spy on the dark forest, along with sense anything that is endangering her clan. However, if she senses too much at once, she has a sensory overload.
Lionblaze keeps his power as to take on as many Dark Forest cats as possible, along with better defending his clan. His powers only toggle in the heat of battle and have a cooldown, which is risky in wars.
Jayfeather has the ability to see into the future as to see when the Dark Forest may attack, along with foreseeing anything that threatens his clanmates. However, his visions are brief and vague, which may cause him to misread his omens.

If he gets too into a battle, he could go berserk, attacking friend and foe alike.
Oh gosh, Hollyleaf as the impostor...That would have been kind of cool. But also weird, if Bramblestar is still the one she decides to possess.
I have the whole ''X character should have been a villain'' too, except about Tigerheart. During the arc, he's proven himself to be a manipulative, cunning and selfish cat, and in the last hope, he's suddendly a good guy with no logical explanation.
I also like the idea of actually making Dovewing do some shit against the dark forest. Jayfeather helped star clan get their shit together in the last book, Lionblaze probably defeated a bunch of dark forest cats, but she did nothing really.
Idk makes it feel like "if you're not special you're evil" and just villanizing ambition more

So I belive a good motive for the dark forest cats to give them the chance to live again in bodies of the current clans I keep thinking in when Mapleshade was looking foward to get a body of a young She-cat, it would them a motive to fight more vicious for this shot,as for the trainess they could just cats like stemleaf and willowshine's case kinda like hey if you don't fight for us we will murd3r your love one's spirit and if would of given Ashfur a more recient wish of revenge since Hollyleaf would of just kill him last arc
WE NEED A STORY ON WHY THE HECK REDWILLOW FOUGHT WITH THE DF I NEED AN EXPLANATION OR A POV FOR HIM IN A NOVELLA PLEASE!
THE TREE DID NOT KILL FIRESTAR!!! He died from his wounds, a tree was struck by lightning, lights on fire, and fell beside him as a way of showing the fire has fallen. It's poetic, to bad people alway take it the wrong way.

I have a soft spot for PoT and OotS simply because it has all of my favorite characters in it. Jayfeather, Hollyleaf, Ivypool, Briarlight, more specifically. The arcs definitely have their problems but they're still my favorites. Plus, it was the first time we see cats that aren't Clan leaders with supernatural abilities (unless you count Firestar having future dreams even as a kittypet)!

I’m reading this series for the first time (in my 30’s) and the nonsensical decisions just drive me crazy. In particular StarClan’s decision to split up the clans before the great battle. Like what?! I’m almost done with Night Whispers and I’m seriously debating on whether I want to keep reading after this arc. Do they get better or worse?
The first 3 books of Vision of Shadows are great, last 3 not so much. The first 3 books of Broken Code are great, last 3 are hit or miss. First 3 books of Dawn of the Clans are great, last 3 are pretty bad. So far A Starless Clan is pretty great, all 4 of the books.

Loved your analysis! I didn't realize how pointless all the main cats in this arc (except Ivypool) were until you pointed it out.
Love your new sprites too! Just a very minor thing I noticed (feel free to ignore me) - the back of your sona blends in a little with the tree behind you. If you made a little change, either adding just a bit more bush between your sona and the tree, or lightening the tree a tad, it would clarify the scene and help your sprites shine. :)
I'll definitely be reading your newest Paws of Stars entry - after this analysis, I'm super pumped to see where your rewrite leads. Keep up the good work!

Book by book. I like to go through a full-book edit when I complete a book so I don't post the chapters whenever I finish them, in case I need to go back and change something.

@@hexoversex8487 It's varied so far. I don't give precise deadlines in case my schedule gets crazy but in general I try to write at least a chapter a week if nothing else, so somewhere around 24-27 weeks as maximum depending on the size of the particular book I'm working on.

I hate Dovewing, I like Ivypool, I don't mind Flametail or Lionblaze, and I love Jayfeather
Flametail is pointless, I don't care about Dovewing, Lionblaze and Ivypool are fine at best, and Jayfeather is indeed always great to read about, even if he takes some decisions that are inconsistent with po3, most notably the fact that he's suddendly a star clan fanboy and follows them even when they do stupid shit, where as before, he was more than willing to doubt their supposed wisdom.
Personally I really like Dovewing and she is one of my favorite characters. As for Ivypool, I could care less about her? I dunno, she just isn’t a favorite of mine. Lionblaze was very boring in OOTS, his romance with Cinderheart was forced and VERY annoying. Jayfeather was fine, never really cared for him either but his thoughts on StarClan are interesting, because StarClan was absolutely awful in OOTS, especially Yellowfang.
