I want to say thank you. Great video, I did not go out and buy a really expensive chainsaw based on your product analysis. I’m super happy with the Salem master. I used your video to help me unboxed and put together my chainsaw. Straight out of the box I cut through a 30 inch round log that I will use as charcuterie boards. Thanks again
That damn washer had me pissed for an hour. I didn't take it off and put the chain on an couldn't move it by hand. So as soon as I seen you took it off I went and did the same and now it'll spin. THANKS FOR THE HELP.
Just bought one today, should be here Thursday. Had a 50' 7 trunk Camphor tree cut down and saved $500 cutting up the fallen pieces and taking it to the curb for the parish to take away. Have a Ryobi 14" saw I bought reconditioned for $70; too small and hard to start so you get what you pay for. Use this 20" saw one time and it will pay for itself.👍
Wow. That thing cut through that big piece of wood like it was a twig! After watching a review of a Ryobi 20", I think you just helped make up my mind. Thank you sir!
I just got my saw today. I put it together adjusted the oiler and put it to work. I cut a birch tree anywhere from 20 inch diameter to 30 inch diameter in 6 different cuts. The saw was amazing. It does like the fuel in comparison to my smaller saws.
Wow, I’m a suburban newbie, I just got this exact chainsaw but I couldn’t figure out the instruction manual at all, I didn’t even know chain oil was needed or what the movable black bar does. But when I saw you put it together and start it up without even looking at the manual, plus the background pickup trucks parked in random directions in your yard, I knew you’re the real deal, thanks!
You have a wonderful family and I'm glad they all seem to participate. You are also very patient with your daughter. If my father or mother were filming a video or other task, he or she would have spoken once. There would NOT have been a second word out of my mouth for fear of death (not quite, but it wouldn't have been fun?). I wish you guys the best. Anyways, on to the saws.........I bought a Craftsman 42cc saw at Lowes because my back wasn't liking me using a Sthil 041 all day. I still use the 041 for big wood (24' and over) and the Craftsman for most others. I also have an Echo 271T top handle that I use for bucking and trimming (I LOVE this saw-best I ever ran). I noticed that most of these Chinese made Ebay and Amazon saws (And my Craftsman) all seem to have some basic traits. While the plastic is different colors, different air cleaners, some have primer bubbles and some do not, they all seem to use the same engine case/handle design (quite a few have the same #'s on the casting). The fuel and oil fillers are ALWAYS at the same location. The clutch cover/chain brake also are the same. The only variance being the chain tensioner, as some screws are on the side and some the front but they all accept both types (I know because I tried it, my buddy has a Choocheer off of Amazon and I swapped them Lol.). By the way, all 3 Craftsman saws at Lowes are EXACTLY the same, the only difference is bar length. My biggest concern is that one saw claims to be 42cc and another 52cc and another 62cc yet the cases and cylinder heads (jugs) are the same casting #'s in most cases. Granted, the displacement could be controlled by the stroke length? It just makes me raise an eyebrow and wonder what the actual cc's of these saws really is? To follow up, I’m BLOWN away by their customer service. I received a FaceTime call from a tech that walked me through everything to check. Congratulations on your choice on saws I know since I've got mine I've only used my old saw a couple of time and that was because it was gassed up and ready to go and I only had two or three Cuts left to finish the day out
I was undecided between Husqy or Stihl, then I saw this, Couple friends of mine are arborist, they came over last week and dropped all my ash tress that were close to the house. Now I have 6 huge ash trees I have to cut up. Two of my friends suggested Husqvarna or Stihl, the third friend suggested echo and the other two laughed at him. So at this point I have decided it doesn't matter brand what matters is chain speed, size and quality of engine that will be my decider. What I don't like about cheaper saws is their fuel delivery system, when they sit for a season or two they never start without a total overhaul. My last saw I had was a 16" bar Stihl, it's 22 years old, changed spark plug twice, it was all the maintenance it needed but now I need a much larger saw
I'm not sure what the carb brand is but I can tell you I have only changed the plug once in nearly 20 cord of wood. And I have on purpose left these saws out in the rain and weather for weeks at a time and they start like day 1 in just waiting for the snow to get here now in thinking about burying one in the snow till spring thaw just for a test
Why wouldn’t you get another Stihl even though your previous one lasted 22 years? You know the things are reliable, tough, and fast, so why not get another Stihl? Stihl has obviously brought you great success, why change it up..

Is it leaking bad after running when you shut down and then your leaving oil puddles? If so try running a little more oil in the gas the motor is getting to hot also try blowing the whole saw out with compressed air it could just be dirty
Wondering if you could clarify. I saw on the card is says run 20:1 for first 20hrs then 25:1 after that but then reading the instructions booklet it says 25:1 for first 20 then 50:1 after that. What are your thoughts and what I should run. I am just breaking in the saw, maybe just over 2 hours run time.
My personal opinion and feelings and experience with saws I always run heavier on oil then they recommend so all of my saws run between a 20 to 25 to 1 mix no matter how old they are
I got a poulan pro 330 which is a 50cc that will out cut that P. O. S. @@jnottingham1981 but what your not taking into consideration is the price point I can purchase 5 of these saws for the price of 1 domestic brand saw and for a homeowner that will use it a few times a year this is a better deal
True I cannot argue with the part availability of the domestic brand saws but my personal experience i have cut near 20 cord with these saws and have had no problems I didn't even change the spark plug till after 15 cord of wood
China saws are 0.325 pitch. You can use 15-16" bar, for good results. Chain has to be the same length. You can use fresh motor oil for chain lubrication if you don't have saw oil. Adjust you oil pump to max. Everytime you refuel with gas, check the oil tank also and fill it up.
I run 40:1 in all my saws regardless what the manufacturer recommends. I just can’t believe these Chinese saws say to run a 25:1 fuel/oil ratio when all of the new name brands all use 50:1 anymore.
@@mountianmansfamilygarage3141 I even run 40:1 in my old Homelite Super XL. Back when these saws were made though they used regular SAE30 engine oil. Todays 2 stroke oil is way more high tech stuff and much safer to run at lower mixtures.
@@stevenkinnison8044 I run 50:1 on my weed whackers, leaf blowers but 40:1 on my chainsaws... been doing it for years.. I buy Husqvarna 2 cycle oil for my lawn equipment & always use Echo/Stihl premix fuel for my chainsaws.

My personal opinion and feelings and experience with saws I always run heavier on oil then they recommend so all of my saws run between a 20 to 25 to 1 mix no matter how old they are
Great!! thanks!
I have this saw and it runs great mixing a 25:1.
for a quarter of the price what else can you complaint
cool wow
I got a poulan pro 330 which is a 50cc that will out cut that P. O. S. Anyday of the week for that to be a 62cc saw like to see it up beside my 562xp husky which is a 62cc or my ms291 stihl which is only 55cc hell I bet my 028 stihl that is 45 years old will out cut that saw save money and time buy stihl or husqvrna and you can't go wrong
We all have our brand preference it's all in who is holding the saw in there hands
@@mountianmansfamilygarage3141 I always thought the old saying was work smarter NOT HARDER
@@jnottingham1981 but what your not taking into consideration is the price point I can purchase 5 of these saws for the price of 1 domestic brand saw and for a homeowner that will use it a few times a year this is a better deal

Fine for the occasional use , but Stihl or Husky for everyday use , if it breaks ......your goosed ! C Taylor .
True I cannot argue with the part availability of the domestic brand saws but my personal experience i have cut near 20 cord with these saws and have had no problems I didn't even change the spark plug till after 15 cord of wood
I've got these as cheap as $90 delivered new.
where can you get replacement bar and what mounting pattern does it have
More then likely Oregon makes a bar that will fit id suggest taking it to your local saw shop to match it up
China saws are 0.325 pitch.
You can use 15-16" bar, for good results.
Chain has to be the same length.
You can use fresh motor oil for chain lubrication if you don't have saw oil.
Adjust you oil pump to max.
Everytime you refuel with gas, check the oil tank also and fill it up.
@@dan_6915 using motor oil will just burn a little faster that's all. I've used it many of times in a pinch and never had a problem.
How much for the stepside Dodge?
Current condition 10k
What oil
And Gad mixer
I run 40:1 in all my saws regardless what the manufacturer recommends. I just can’t believe these Chinese saws say to run a 25:1 fuel/oil ratio when all of the new name brands all use 50:1 anymore.
Most my equipment is older then I am so I always run heavy oil really my feelings it comes down to personal preference
Charlotte is chill stop being mean to her.
62CC that’s basically a weed eater my weed whacker has a 50CC engine that’s more of a brush saw than a felling/bucking saw
Call it what you like they are great for what I do and I work the tar out of them
Bogging down....and that wood is punky
I agree I didn't have the carburetor set quite right so it was bogging down a little bit and no that wood is not Punky at all it is solid
Your daughter is cracking me up
Oh the life commentary never ends
My daughter is getting a little older so now she thinks dad is not cool
The main reason I was watching that is do you think that chain so I’ll be a good one for like a little small chainsaw mill hi have a wood shop and obviously everybody in America knows how much lumber is right now and I’m trying to offset some of the cost
@@Patriotdesigns yes I love this saw it always cuts great the latest model H is out I'm not sure the difference but for the price point you can't go wrong
25:1 all the time seriously 😳
20 to one! ? Wye cant they go 32 or 40 to one or 50 to one? I run synthetic 40 to one all my saws, and the 031 stihl is 5o yrs old and loves it! Saws in the 50s were 16to1 or 25to one. Only thing that makes me hesitate, maybe babbit bearings? The other thing does it have easy start mechanism? - I am in my 80's! WEar your gear guys an regards to Charlotte!!
Go 25:1 for first five tanks for break in...then you can switch to 32:1 and retune carb
I bet Charlotte is better with the spanners than her Dad.
Well she's beat me so far in life 7 years old no stitches or broken bones
Hi invite to a friendly competition from down under Australia, Chinese chainsaw underdog competition part 1 rules cheers kevin
What do you have in mind? There's never a problem with friendly competition
Precocious children dont make for a great video unfortunately. I would run 40 to 1 once its broke in. Sounds gutsy
lol Kids are the best
well, the saw will not be long without degassing will soon be dead
Just my 2 cents. Since this appears to be a family affair (1. camerawoman chimes in whenever 2. Critters running around etc.), why not let Charlotte chime in? On most of my subscribed providers, folks comment about the cool relationship the dad has with his kids. There will come a time when u may wish u had female viewers. Your relationship with your daughter is gold to women. Everyone else (even on traditional t.v.) is trying to find a way to add their kids to videos.
Caveat: I'd rather fewer distractions from the cameraperson talking to the child or u, frankly. But I'm typically in the minority. Just my humble opinion and I wish I the best of luck on your channel.
@cliftt for the most part i include the family in my videos but i was trying to get this done in a hurry because we were loosing light
@@mountianmansfamilygarage3141 Cool. Been there. Loved the video. In the first video I viewed, I saw the sidearm. Meant to comment on that.
@@cliftt yes most of the time i have my sidearm on not expecting anything crazy but every now and then I do run across some wild animals so I just like to have it on me had a few instances that bears got a little curious about what I was doing
