    I didn’t realize until I looked at the stats, but Fleetwood may be the best ball striker currently on the planet. The winner of this year’s Race to Dubai drives it an average of just under 300 yards and hits 70 % of his fairways, which obviously puts him into position to hit a lot of greens, which he does, his 77% GIR 3 full points better than anyone on the European Tour. His backswing could be a model for anyone, and with his strength and trunk mobility it sets him up to hit the ball exceptionally well. I love the way he maintains his left wrist cup in the takeaway with all sorts of width all the way to the top, where he gets the club fully to parallel with the longer clubs unlike many of the younger players today. One thing you wouldn’t expect to see is his movement toward the ball with his upper body as he reaches the top of the swing, but it does not have the usual consequences as he makes an incredible pelvic move to stay deep with his hips and to clear his left side in a timely fashion. He compresses gradually during the entire swing until P6 when he really uses the ground to drive his lower body up and to the left, firing his glutes and the back of his left leg to rotate the pelvis hard around to the finish, which appears somewhat cut off but is really about as full as it can get with the huge drive of his upper right side through impact. He also has a strange looking head drop right at impact, and keeps his eyes glued to the ground well past impact. His putting stats are woeful, ranking 199th out of 207 players in average putts per round, but that is not surprising since he hits it so much better than anyone else, another indication that great ball striking.

    At the 2023 Players Championship Brad Faxon was saying that Fleetwood went to Butch Harmon a couple weeks ago, and Harmon told him got to make your hips turn better on the backswing and want him to make his head release better and get off his right side. Maybe he got in some bad habits, I did a swing from him last year in which his right cheek moves towards the ball away from tush line, and right one goes a little further away from tush line at impact.

    Nice video Wayne. I first took notice of this guy at the US Open this past June. He could become a great player. Take a look at the rear angle from the first picture, at impact he reminds me of Trevino. What do you think? Thank you, enjoy your content.

    Wayne do you see guys like tommy and Justin Thomas still swinging like this later on in they’re careers or falling away as the lose the flexibility?

    • @jonb2437
      @jonb2437 6 років тому

      James Mcfarlane not Wayne but Tommy not so much bc he really stays into the ground or the shot, get downs and through smoothly. Justin pops his hips and springs up like crazy. No way that kid can keep swinging like that well into his 30s

    • @jonb2437
      @jonb2437 6 років тому

      Side note: bc Justin hits up on the ball so much, there's hardly any chance he'll ever win an Open. Tommy killed the field yesterday in Abu Dhabi with a 65 while the wind was blowing

    Wayne...is his back going to survive this swing? Looks like a back wrecker to me, but I'm only an amateur watching!! Also a fan of Tommy since 2014. Boy done good, only has one back though!!

      @J3ui 6 років тому +1

      NEIL CLARKE I'm not Wayne but I don't think he's at anymore risk then anyone else. His transition is pretty smooth and gets through the ball pretty freely.

      Remember, Parachute jumps and 12ft wall jumps during Navy Seal type training wrecked Tiger's back, NOT his golf swing. The strength and flexibility in the core, glutes and quads enable the speed. An amateur with less speed, poor strength/flexibility and an OTT lunge/swing will probably do more damage to his back than TF! :)

      Nick Hough well it's not uncommon for pros to suffer back problems. Jason Day, Louis oosthuizen, Justin Rose, Freddie Couples, Lee Trevino, and the list goes on and on. The golf swing is the most unnatural movement to the body. It really doesn't make a difference how you swing or what kind of shape you're in. Everyone of all types has had back issues.

      This is why Moe Normans swing is worth pursuing ! No twisting or turning!! Yah I know they say no ground forces this is true if you agree to the concept that he had a single plane swing! He didn't know how many planes he had not did he care!

    3:10 it’s not anterior pelvic tilt. It’s hip flexion + side bend

    • @wdefrancesco
      @wdefrancesco  6 років тому

      so you're saying the pelvis is not adding tilt?

    • @tongzilla
      @tongzilla 6 років тому

      Wayne Defrancesco Golf Learning Center visually yes it is adding “tilt”. But not anterior pelvic tilt. The lumbar is still neutral, which is what you want.

    • @tongzilla
      @tongzilla 6 років тому

      Not trying to be nit picky because I think it’s an important distinction

    • @wdefrancesco
      @wdefrancesco  6 років тому

      I'm interested in the distinction. Please explain how the lumbar is neutral while the pelvis is visually tilting more downward (anterior).

    At four minutes into the video. He has so much right lateral bend. That is a blown-out back waiting to happen. That's the move Tiger reduced to save his spine from all that twisting and pressure.

    Cool swing Why do the best players in the world wear a glove for wedge shots, chipping and out of the sand? Doesn't it negatively affect their feel? I know Freddie and Glover don't wear a glove.
