@@GrumpyWolfTech I think that you aren't a furry if you don't identify yourself as one. They may have the same interests as a furry, but if they don't consider themselves as one forcing the title isn't a good idea, at least to me.
I’ve been into the community mainly for the openness and the art/stories for almost 20 years(I’m 35), but don’t own a fur suit, nor have I been to any conventions...what does that make me?
I was really into the fandom, but had yet to go to a con when the Burned Furs thing came around. I stepped away from the fandom just because of all the negativity and have recently been getting back into it. Went to my local con’s online con this year. I really enjoyed meeting other furries.
Welcome back, then. As with all things consisting of Humans, there are a lot of shitty people in furry, but the openness of the fandom as a whole does make it easier to find people of common interest.
All interesting and informative...yes, on different levels...but major points for the mention of Steve Gallacci! His work, *and* the works he inspired, went a long way to feeding my interest in the fandom.
I mean... if you think about it, other than the whole rule 34 stuff, it really makes sense that there’s nsfw furry stuff. Furries are anthro animals, which means they’re part human. And if they’re part human, there’s gonna be... inappropriate things... I mean it makes sense!
And it's all about who do you feel/identify/have an affinity for in your deepest, most intimate sense, and being vulnerable and open about that. Kinda hard to avoid sexuality within that.
you need much more visuals and text. 3/4 of the stuff you talk about I dont know or cannot relate to because I dont know how its written (like these emojies made out of foreign language letters)
We totally tried to make this video full of visuals, but Camtasia kept crashing because it couldn't handle the amount of editing. We are saving up from ad revenue and patreon to buy a new one by august ♥ Hopefully we can make videos with more complex editing by then ♥ ♥

If there's one thing here I can relate to, it's having a niche "cute" zone. The biggest one on my end would probably have to be rats. I know they're polarizing as fuck; but I can't help but have my heart melt when I see pics of real-life rats. I follow lots of rats on Instagram. Before lockdown, I would enjoy looking at rats at pet stores. Hell, I even met a rat in-person once when I was young and want to do so again, to the point of wishing I could own rats. If I ever get the chance to do so, I would prefer sourcing from a rattery, or local rat breeder. Honestly, I feel like they're one of those animals done dirty by cartoons as they seem much cuter and more personable irl.
Yeah, he's a furry, just not active in the community as much. We assume he only talks or hangs out with local furries rather than getting involved in the fandom in general and it is understandable.
It is quite interesting that not that many young furries know about it. I've only found adults who have known about it, I guess it has to do with the fact that younger furs don't use the same websites as older ones so they don't get exposed to as much fandom history as we have.
As a survivor of the time of the Burned Furs (bowl) movement, and having had friends who fell prey to it, allow me to simply state that it is far deeper and more cringe-worthy than it has been made to sound in this video. @@GrumpyWolfTech This is a change that came within the decade; before then, it was looked down upon to bring politics and such into the fandom like that.

@@SeetherCord I appreciate your response. Honestly, my biggest issue is just how inaccurate your description of them is in this video, especially since it's not hard to read up on them.
