This is the third time I have used these videos over the years. I have a house full of slider windows and by buying a bunch of kits (way cheaper than buying handrails and blind sets separately) I was able to make my own. I even bought a punch at Walmart and made a jig for punching the holes since I use one blind for two or three short ones that I cut down on my mitre saw. I realize you may not even live in that house or monitor this old channel but on the off chance you see this thanks a ton!
I followed these instructions a couple years ago for my Master bedroom and now came back to do the windows in the guest room. Thanks.... so glad I found you again.
Thanks! I wanted to know if I could take larger blinds form the Dining Room and put them in the kitchen. You've saved me a few hundred bucks! Much appreciated. Thanks for sharing your skills with us less handy folks! :)
nice job john, help me a lot.the wife just came home with one and i needed to alter it to fit but wasnt sure which end to alter.the instructions that came with the set were awful.saved me from ruining a perfectly good blind
What a great job on your blind installing and shortening. My hubby and I learned a lot from that. Thank you so much. Keep up the great work with more video's.
Thanks so much, great video, very helpful. I'm a retired mechanical designer but I still just needed someone to show me how. Thank you. :) Also, what a spectacular view you have off your deck! Me? I see my neighbors trash cans! LOL, take care and thanks again!
Excellent, just what I needed to know. Are the wands reversible, so as to choose from which side they slide open, or do they hang straight down in the middle?
My hubby and I both watched the clip, because we are needing to shorten a existing blind. Great effort team, a fantastically informative clip. Thank you for taking the time to make this for all of us to benefit from. PS: how did you get the Humming bird to fly around the window on cue?
+Kathleen Farmer It would have two handles and they would slide from each end. But it would be difficult to make one long slider. You would have to weld the ends of the two bars together. The bars might sag a bit over that distance.
+Doug Stewart Funny... She was three feet further away and all the sparks flew up within about a foot of my cuts. She must have left her eye protection inside!
I've watched this again-I was wrong-I was probably disappointed that it wasn't as easy as I thought,or I was in a bad mood or something-on the plus side I didn't swear or insult you-heartfelt apologies
+David Worsley Funny, I watched this video again today, and it had me laughing at several points. Yes, as the years go by, our culture demands a faster and faster pace!
Watching this just saved my husband and I thousands of dollars, thanks for sharing. .
This video is eight years old. But it helped me and my dad perfectly step-by-step today in 2021. Thank you so much!

Greetings from Canada! Did it today with the same blinds. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you your video helped me I didn't know if you could cut the rail. Now I can do my own. Thanks again
At 4:50 I recommend using a paper cutter with a jig of some sort for length. Perfect square cuts every time. Cut one at a time.
Many Thanks!!! I am so glad I found this...have a 9' blind that I already have and will be able to modify for a 5' door!!!
this was very helpful and you explained everything so clear, thank you very much.

+Doug Stewart Funny... She was three feet further away and all the sparks flew up within about a foot of my cuts. She must have left her eye protection inside!
