Poseidon - not the god I'd have associated with a warmbass headphone ngl. Bright & slammy maybe, but this sounds more like it's a better version of the Audioquest Nighthawk. I'd like to try it out if I get the chance sometime.

I cancelled mine a way back In the early, early birds and got the Zeus, what I SHOULD have done is get the Posiden at 274 bucks try it against the Zeus from say Amazon and then decided. I could have probably broke even at least on the Posiden if I did decide not to keep it. Isn't hindsight wonderful 🙄
@@apj.-.-.-.-.-.-.-119 Stax is 6k and the HD800S is 1.3k. I currently have the PC38X and, while I do want to upgrade from these headphones, those are far outside of my price range. That's why I mentioned the Zeus since it's in the $300-$400 price range, which is more realistic for me.
Nice review, I love the Zeus but I don't think I'll love the Poseidon. I like dark sound and detail but sound stage and imaging is a priority. Seeing that I already got the sundara and the k712, adding a Poseidon is over kill XD.

Passion for Sound had a different looking FR for Zeus where the sub bass rolls off similar to the Poseidon. Now I'm a bit confused if I should cancel my Kickstarter. I heard Poseidon was going to basically be a more detailed zeus with slightly reduced stage... That would be good. But if their FR is really this much different I might not like it...

I polished the grill and replaced the stock black mesh with a brass mesh behind the grill on my Zeus. Gave them a nicer look imho. Next thing is to try and come up with a fix for their flimsy adjustment mechanism. Worst part about the headphone.

so you seemed to love the Zeus, you sound imbivalent towards this, I have the Sundara , 6xx and shp9600 openbacks, I was looking for some fun and an upgrade on my Phillips although I will never sell it as it was my first openback. I think the Zeus is sounding the way to go, I may cancel my kickstarter on the Pos. Even with the 279 super early with shipping etc it comes in £30 less is all, so aroud $40 less than Zeus and super warm and seriously rolled off subbass which dosent react in the blow bass to tubes dosent sound fun.

I plan to use the Poseidons and now I'm not quite sure wether I need an AMP or if I should just use my onboard audio (NZXT N7 B550 Mainboard; ALC1220 + TI NE5532). I already looked up some DAC/AMPS and some nice choices seem to be: Fiio K3, Fiio K5 Pro, Ifi Zen Dac V2, Creative Soundblaster G6.... Do you have any (cheap) recommendations for me?
I love ifi equipment t but in this case I'd steer clear on the zendac/hipdac and go for a brighter item as warm on warm may be too much. Look at the Drop 789 one I think it's called it's the single ended only and often goes on sale. As for a DAC if you can stretch probably a fiio btr5 which you could actually use as the amp as well to be honest, they are under 100 bucks have single ended and balanced outputs, very good quality Bluetooth Inc LDAC and APTX ll,hd and is less warm than ifi equipment. The Quidalix(always spell that wrong) is an alternative to the BTR5. To be honest the Quidlex (trying not he spelling 😁)or the btr5 is mostly all you need. Lately if don't want convenience of bluetooth but a better DAC and amp for the posiden anyway try to dragon quest red, the cobalt is pricey for what it is. There hope I helped not confusing choice at all,THIS IS WHY I DON'T DO REVIEWS

It's YOUR ears. Nobody could answer if you would like any headphones even if the person has heard headphones you say you like. Besides, you have $700 headphones regardless of what you paid for them. No chance these will sound better. 😉 If you want a different sound, sure...get lesser headphones, but the special driver in the NightHawk is difficult to beat even above the $1100 pricepoint. I know, because I own the NightHawk Carbon and pricier headphones.
Idk. If you're making a warm headphone the only reason to have rolled off subbass is because the drivers are really bad and can't take the subbass without distorting.
@@casualmime2792 I actually had an issue when EQ'ing and asked my contact at beyerdynamic who talked to the engineers, I was comparing to my DT990 that wasn't distorting when EQ'ed and he said it was likely because the back was less open than the DT1990, just my 2 cents but I got them to distort p.bad with a 3-5db bump.... Also listen to some good planars, dynamics cannot compete down low!
I think my Zeus already has enough warmth while still maintaining a good amount of treble that isn't fatiguing. I'd want a technically more capable performing headphone, but the nasal vocals and smaller soundstage (of the Poseidon) are concerning. Are there any strengths this headphone has other than technical perf. and suitability for the 2 genres you mentioned? Seems like a tough sell for Zeus owners so far.

@@ShayzerCo so hiphop is usually subbass, vocals (male in my case) and cymbals/treble that can get fatiguing like with the HD560S. The Zeus is not fatiguing and has the right amount of treble. Moving on to vocals, they're a bit forward on the Zeus, the bass seems to take a slight step back in comparison (my guess is because it doesnt offer enough subbass and opts for higher bass frequencies instead), it doesn't rumble/punch enough for this genre imo. It doesn't look like the Poseidon would "fix" this (supposedly increased warmth). Listening done on Tidal w 320kb/s and cheapest MeierAudio DAC.

@@ShayzerCo So I have the K371 as well and out of curiosity I just tried them (i bought quite a few HPs this year 😉) - I don't want to sound like a parrot and reiterate what lots of reviewers say, BUT - this little earmuff does a lot right - the song accordion by madvillainy is a good way to test treble hotness and it does it just right/not too hot. Bass rumbles without any extra bloat/fat and there's proper punch to it, which is important for rhythm. Vocals/mids are not overpowering as they shouldnt be, theyre present, but the bass fundamentals arent lost either. Bonus points: it offers isolation and is very comfy for me (and for its price it sounds really decent). This is def. the pick out of Zeus, HD560S, HD650/6XX and K371 for hiphop.
What are you guys talking about? Apple audio products sound damn good for what they are. The problem is you bought a Bluetooth headphone with noise canceling. These pretty much always focus on features and usability over sound, Apple or not. If you want good sound for your money, always go wired.

1990 is one of the few open backs with fairly solid low end. dt 900 pro x is very similar too for less money

Hey, i am hesitating between the Poseidon and Zeus, could you tell me how the Zeus sounds when listening to Rap music ? I am mainly playing games like Valorant/CS and listening to Rap songs, so i don't really know what to chose :/
@@ShayzerCo so hiphop is usually subbass, vocals (male in my case) and cymbals/treble that can get fatiguing like with the HD560S. The Zeus is not fatiguing and has the right amount of treble. Moving on to vocals, they're a bit forward on the Zeus, the bass seems to take a slight step back in comparison (my guess is because it doesnt offer enough subbass and opts for higher bass frequencies instead), it doesn't rumble/punch enough for this genre imo. It doesn't look like the Poseidon would "fix" this (supposedly increased warmth). Listening done on Tidal w 320kb/s and cheapest MeierAudio DAC.

@@ShayzerCo So I have the K371 as well and out of curiosity I just tried them (i bought quite a few HPs this year 😉) - I don't want to sound like a parrot and reiterate what lots of reviewers say, BUT - this little earmuff does a lot right - the song accordion by madvillainy is a good way to test treble hotness and it does it just right/not too hot. Bass rumbles without any extra bloat/fat and there's proper punch to it, which is important for rhythm. Vocals/mids are not overpowering as they shouldnt be, theyre present, but the bass fundamentals arent lost either. Bonus points: it offers isolation and is very comfy for me (and for its price it sounds really decent). This is def. the pick out of Zeus, HD560S, HD650/6XX and K371 for hiphop.
@@ShayzerCo I haven't tried the 1990s yet. It depends what you value too and what youve heard - i dont EQ HPs but I could see that working if you EQ.

The problem is you bought a Bluetooth headphone with noise canceling. These pretty much always focus on features and usability over sound, Apple or not.
If you want good sound for your money, always go wired.
