    Even though I've tried several methods, shadowing has proved vital for improving your skills in spoken English. However, we strongly recommend a total immersion in English.

    That’s so complicated and so frustrating, why asking if you’re have no interest?? I’ve learned my lesson, now when someone asks me about my whereabouts, I respond with a “ good, thanks for asking”. However, it’s good to learn those small talk tips so that I won’t be disappointed when someone walks away while I’m still giving details. I’m a talkative person, so needless to say that happens to me very often. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us, Anne Marie. Happy new year 🎊🎈🎆

    • @Speakconfidentenglish
      @Speakconfidentenglish  Рік тому +1

      I agree. It's frustrating when people ask if they have no interest. Sometimes it may be out of an effort to be polite or perhaps someone who struggles to carry on conversations. It sounds like you have a great response to common questions and might also be prepared to keep the conversation going with those who want to know more.

      I have some interest in philosophy.
      I expect you to talk a lot about shallow philosophy, not deep one because
      humans are always wondering what life is or how meaningful and significant it is.

    In my country is common talking about personal matters, but sometimes I think that is a little bit invasive, some exaggerate in their questions in my humble opinion.

    I would love to hear more about how to answer when people ask me how my vacation was. It's a tricky question because I don't know how much details to say

    • @Speakconfidentenglish
      @Speakconfidentenglish  Рік тому

      Great question! I advise students to provide detailed but brief statements. For determining important details, ask yourself some key questions. Where did you go? What was a highlight? Would you recommend it to others?
      When you offer a detailed response it does 2 things:
      1. It shows you're willing to share and enjoying talking about your travel experience.
      2. It makes it easy for others to ask follow-up questions to more information.

    • @joyceychang
