This small talk conversation was amazing and so helpful to speak with English speaking people. I am retired teacher from INDIA and great passion to learn English skills.
Appreciate your lectures.Really, you have come up with a new idea in learning of a language.Especially, the method is helpfull for spoken language Thanks
Even though I've tried several methods, shadowing has proved vital for improving your skills in spoken English. However, we strongly recommend a total immersion in English.
Very helpful training, Annemarie. Thank you! I usually ask "How did you spend your days off?" OR "Did you enjoy these days? Did you manage to relax and rest?"
Omg! It's literally so useful, i listened to it without subtitles, i felt so comfortable listening u talking about traveling and holidays! Love u Mrs. Anna 🫶🏻🌷
That’s so complicated and so frustrating, why asking if you’re have no interest?? I’ve learned my lesson, now when someone asks me about my whereabouts, I respond with a “ good, thanks for asking”. However, it’s good to learn those small talk tips so that I won’t be disappointed when someone walks away while I’m still giving details. I’m a talkative person, so needless to say that happens to me very often. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us, Anne Marie. Happy new year 🎊🎈🎆
I agree. It's frustrating when people ask if they have no interest. Sometimes it may be out of an effort to be polite or perhaps someone who struggles to carry on conversations. It sounds like you have a great response to common questions and might also be prepared to keep the conversation going with those who want to know more.
For me was very interesting topic, because recently I've arrived my vacation and this small talks are very common with friend of mine. Many thanks Annemarie
@@Speakconfidentenglish Thanks a lot for your kind comments I have some interest in philosophy. I expect you to talk a lot about shallow philosophy, not deep one because humans are always wondering what life is or how meaningful and significant it is.
In my country is common talking about personal matters, but sometimes I think that is a little bit invasive, some exaggerate in their questions in my humble opinion.
I usually ask the very simple question “how was your trip to xyz place?” This lesson is so great and right at the time for everyone is coming back from holidays! Thank you!
I would love to hear more about how to answer when people ask me how my vacation was. It's a tricky question because I don't know how much details to say
Great question! I advise students to provide detailed but brief statements. For determining important details, ask yourself some key questions. Where did you go? What was a highlight? Would you recommend it to others? When you offer a detailed response it does 2 things: 1. It shows you're willing to share and enjoying talking about your travel experience. 2. It makes it easy for others to ask follow-up questions to more information.
I would LOVE to see a future video on how to hear more about how to answer this question. Everytime I come back from vacation, I always struggle to answer "How was your vacation?"
I’m watching this as an ESL teacher and thought you might like to know that there are typos at the 2 comments at 8:00 and shortly thereafter. (Maybe you corrected it already and I haven’t seen it yet because I haven’t refreshed the video yet. )
I hope every one In the workplace do their own work. And stop talk about fake dream, fake expectations. Fake interest on your coworker. We want to be friendly to every one. But I hope we can keep our energy from all these.
