For the IELTS exam, it is essential to 1) Have an excellent IELTS book to help you prepare - if you are struggling with one specific area, get an extra book that focuses on that skills 2) Practice consistently - this means multiple times per week For the speaking portion, the best way to improve is to practice speaking out loud. If you want to make progress fast, then recording yourself and listening so you can evaluate, adjust, and practice/record again is a must.
