My reaction when someone says Powerslave is overrated: 14:08
if something is overrated it is worse than we thought i hate overrated and underrated term. Can we say too popular or too unpopular instead?
stop saying overrated and underrated it is the most stupid term used by stupid people
Defenders of the Faith is absolutely among the best Priest albums. The Sentinel fucking rips.
I really didn't care for that album when it was released but overtime it has became one of my favorites by them
Next time underrated albums
Id say "...And Justice For All" is the most underrated
I like that album over the previous 3 that I also love
Ok. For me it's Kill Em All
It's Metallica it ain't underrated at all lmao considering it's also one of their most famed albums. I'd say The Link and L'enfant Sauvage by Gojira, The Stage by Avenged Sevenfold, The Great Southern Trendkill by Pantera, Shogun by Trivium, and Killbox 13 by Overkill are the most underrated albums
I'd like to add that Tool overall are pretty goddamn overrated. @me if you like :P
As a tool fanboy myself..yep you are correct 😉but I’ll continue to overhype the shit out of them until I die
no
Tool are one of my favorite bands and have been for over 15 years. I didn't used to like them the first time I heard them because their style was so different and I just didn't know what to do with it. I can say that their music really started to grow on me when I decided to give it a chance. There is so much deep and raw emotion packed in every aspect of their songwriting. I think their fanbase is what turns a lot of people off unfortunately; I really wish that wasn't the case.
@@joshalan5125 that’s cool. Tool we’re ruined for me because Pandora put them on literally every metal station I made. Cattle Decapitation? Here’s some Tool. Oh you like Deicide? Check out this sick band Tool! Thanks Pandora. -Brandon
@@forgemastermetal lol. Dude, I havent even listened to Pandora in several years. Once I discovered Spotify, it was bye bye Pandora. Now I use Amazon Music Unlimited because its slightly cheaper (if you do the paid service that is).
Still Life by Opeth, why? Because that's Quest For Metal's favorite album.
Every EP in existence because that’s pyramid heads favourite topic of conversation 🎉
metal is overrated Rock is overrated ...... music is overrated .... life is overrated
Your channel is not overrated, that couch is amazing
I like your Channel ,greetz from Germany. What about a Therion ranking?
Number of the beast has probably the two most overplayed iron maiden songs but the album overall is not overrated.
Hills and Beast are definitely overplayed. But the rest of the album is just banger after banger. Any album that has 22, Acacia Avenue and Hallowed Be Thy Name is a 10/10 in my book.
Children of the Damned has to be the best Maiden song and one of the most beautiful songs ever imo.
You should do a most underrated albums video too, if you haven't already. I've got some lined up!
Top 10 most overrated metal albums of all time:
1) Master of Puppets - Metallica
2) The Black Album - Metallica
3) Reign Blood - Slayer
4) British Steel - Judas Priest
5) The Number of the Beast - Iron Maiden
6) Images and Words - Dream Theater
7) Vol. 3 - Slipknot
8) Mutter - Rammstein
9) Tomb of the Mutilated - Cannibal Corpse
10) Kings of Metal - Manowar
I completely agree with subliminal verses. It really was a step down from Iowa. I think they went back on track by all hope is gone. Until they made the grey chapter that is
Enslaved - Isa
Tool - 10000 Days
Mayhem - DMDS
Behemoth - Evangelion
Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God
Cannibal Corpse - Evisceration Plague
Taake - Noregs Vapen
Watain - Lawless Darkness
Agalloch - The Mantle (I love Pale Folklore and Marrow of the Spirit (the one with Black Lake Nidstang :D) much more!)
Fantastic video.
Regarding Pantera I would say it's a fantastic band because Vulgar Display of Power, is way better than Cowboys From Hell imo even though this one is good (the singles are flawless).
I got *so* excited, shouting "yes!", throwing mini fist pumps and all when you went on the anti Pantera rant of sorts
What else would be interesting is a list of bands/songs that you liked, but can't stand anymore.
I've made that because I realised I've listened to the same stuff for years and I wanted to give myself room for something new.
Pantera is pretty good but I can understand when you say they’re overrated, I agree.
I do agree with you about Pantera, I listened cowboys from hell and vulgar display... 3 or 4 times at this time, and never again since 20 years.
😂Love your reactions! I think Rust In Peace is way overrated, and that was my favorite band when it was released. Peace Sells and Killing Is My Business are infinitely better to me.
I heard several mentions of Mayhem's De Mysteriis album, and that makes me a little sad. I bought that album in 94 not knowing a thing about the band or what was going on in the scene in Norway. I just listened to the music and loved it. I still put that album on today and love it just as much, it's a shame that all the drama surrounding it overshadows such a raw, in your face offering.
That album only got constant reverence ever since it's release tbh. The events, same with any controversy on an album, never got overshadowed but instead adorned. Keep in mind that Downward Spiral was out the same time on the other side with it's other shade.
Hey bro, what about every Krokus album?
You already know my list. You'll hear it very soon...
seeing so many people call master of puppets is overrated hurts cos its my number 1 album of all time by a longshot :(
I fucking adore guns n roses. Appetite for destruction is one of the best hard rock albums of all time. I cant talk shit on them just because all of the posers wear gnr shirts.Every goddamn song is killer. The only 2 problem with gnr in my opinion is; 1)the existence of axl rose(oh god, what an asshole!)
2) They didnt done any all killer no filler album except afd. Use your illusion is good but theres a lot of fillers in that.
And pantera is awesome,i mean when i saw the dominations live version,İt fucking blew my mind,i dont care about their popularity theyre awesome
Axl might be a dick but no one can deny he is a kickass vocalist
I think You're Crazy is kind of a filler. I like the acoustic version more.
Anything by Tool and Opeth. I can see why people would love them but they bore me to death.
Hell yes to British Steel being overrated! Halford stays in one mid note on that whole record and doesn't use his dynamic range that I so want to hear like on other Priest records.
"Rust in Piece...f**k off.!"
Haha. I couldn't have said it better. "
1:25 Thats exactly what people want ... some add free, chill amazing metal related content!
About Filosofem - I actually MEANT that Hvis lyset tar oss is MUUUUCH MUCH better for me. Not consider it bad at all
I would definitely agree. Number of the Beast is the most overrated album in iron maiden's discography and fear of the dark is the most underrated in iron maiden's discography
Everything by iron maiden is coma inducing
Somewhere in time is the most underrated
X factor most underrated
I think No Prayer For the Dying is pretty underrated
100% Agree with Pantera and Guns n Rosses (Specically GnR). Annoing AF
My exact same reaction when you mentioned Bind Guardian's Imaginations from the other side
Most overrated bands: Pantera, Mayhem,Burzum and Dio
When I think of overrated Metal albums, Number of the Beast immediately comes to mind.
Thank you for saying it, Tomb of the Mutilated is ruined by the fact that it sounds like Barnes’ vocals were recorded wearing a ball gag.
Tomb is good but slightly overrated. Mainly because of the sound/production. I think Butchered At Birth is their best. I love the production on BAB....it works with the songs.
Metallica MOP is definitely one of my "most overrated" albums. It was the one I listened to first because I heard so many people say it should be the first Metallica album I should listen to... I thought it was good, but just good.. Then I listened to Kill 'Em All and I thought it was much better.
Not the biggest fan of thrash anyway though, It's good but not one of my favourite subgenres.
I found overrated Kill'Em All, is soooo REPETITIVE.
@@alvarovasquez998 Wow, I've never seen someone say Kill Em All is repetitive...It's really refreshing and fun to listen to this album. Their sencond best album for me after RTL :)
@@alvarovasquez998 100% agree. People often put Kill ‘Em All above AJAF and I can’t comprehend it. The only great songs on it are Seek and Destroy, The Four Horseman, and Whiplash
@@breesybird9207 kill em all is good, it just served to warm up the engines for their next albums
I think one should always listen to the albums in the order they were released.
If you want two albums realesed this year that should have more views, Bythos - The Womb Of Zero (Black Metal) and Greyhawk - Keepers Of The Flame (Heavy Metal).
Thanks for leaving these here! I'm just listening to Bythos due to this comment and wrote Greyhawk down for later. I'm liking what I'm hearing right now - that guy has some powerful vocals :D
Whoever said Iron Maiden's self-titled is overrated... first of all, absolutely not, and second, how is it overrated when most people put it too low?!
For overrated stuff I'd say most Metallica except Kill Em All (I like everything through the Black Album but it's not THAT good)
I never got the Pantera hype so I concur on that.
I'd add more songs into the Sabaton - heroes album. He forgot about Resist and bite, Soldier of 3 armies and No bullets fly
Mayhem De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is the most overrated black metal album ever made.
I agree, Defender is my favorite Judas album too.
4:30 10000% disagree. One of the most sonically perfect sounding records ever made - that's an undeniable fact even if you don't like the songs the sound is impeccable. Secondly struggle within friggin rocks. The intro is one of the best parts of the album, James' vocals are agressive and awesome, it has one of Kirk's best solos on the album and the riff after it is one of the band's most underrated
I dunno how anyone could say white pony is overrated. I barely see anyone rate it
Good morning to everyone except whoever said The Number of the Beast
At first I thought this was YOUR opinions, so when I saw the thumbnail, I could just feel my bones turning into steel.
Countdown to Extinction is easily one of the most overrated albums ever. I've tried to find out what makes it so special among the fans and why it's considered better than rest of the more commercially approachable Megadeth records (which at this point are too many) and even some of the pure thrash records but I just can't understand why it's so praised.
Should do a most underrated metal albums of all time!
Headless Cross is the first to come to mind.
Aw dang, I love all those cheesy Judas Priest songs, lol
I'm already hyped
Don't get me wrong, but Disposable Heros is better than anything off of Kill Em All and probably MOP. Kill Em All is fucking great though
It took me 10 years to like Obscura, but now it's teh best
Thanks for the kind words man!... you’ll like Refuge Denied by Sanctuary btw, classic thrash metal that was produced by Dave Mustaine, amazing vocals from Warrel Dane who was also in a band u may know called Nevermore...
If it’s got megadaves seal of approval must be good 🙌 that’s my listening for tonight sorted
Quest For Metal excellent 👍🏻💯
A guy talking bullshit.
'nuff said.
Nevermind by Nirvana is the most overrated album of all time. So many terrible poorly thought out songs like polly and endless, nameless
You forgot Metallica “St Anger”. You know it’s the absolute best album ever.
Seriously though.... Mastodon “Crack the Skye” and Type O Negative “Bloody Kisses”. Bloody Kisses is pretty good but October Rust is so much better.
i disagree with you on crack the skye. as a big type o fan, i have to agree bloody kisses is overrated. nowhere near their best. the debut, october rust, and life is killing me blow it outta the water
Periphery III: Select Difficulty
7/10
I hear people say this is their favorite Periphery album; it's a good album, but it is by far their least interesting and least creative album. Many riffs are forgettable, which being a guitar player, is not a good sign. Some of Periphery's best songs and worst songs are on here; songs like Absolomb, Marigold, Lune, and The Way The News Goes among others are godly, but then there are others like Remain Indoors which is by far my least favorite Periphery song, it's one I often skip over. I love Periphery, they are in my top 10 favorite bands, but all their other albums are so much more enjoyable than this one.
3:15 NOOOOOOOOO
10:18 *NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO*
11:15 *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*
Most overrated band is Anthrax for me, how can they be in the so called big 4? Not a single song I like
Mostly agree. I especially agree with darkside of the moon. I think it's one of the mpst overrated albums of all time of any genre. I completely disagree about The Wall however, because i think it is among the best albums every recorded. to the point that it could be talked about 24/7 around the world and would still be underrated.
Metallica - St, Anger. Anyone who says that album is a piece of shit is overrating it.
Reign in Blood is the most overrated album of all time, and I dare say it's Slayer's worst album. Most of the songs are very bland and forgettable, and the only decent tracks( Angel of Death and Raining Blood) are also overrated. This album also taught me the lesson of listening to a new album with neutral to low expectations. However, I would listen to this album over Metallica's Load and Reload.
Epidemic, Post-mortem and Piece by Piece are awesome. Criminally Insane is the only song I would consider even slightly disappointing.
@@lordtrigon1733 I respect your opinion, but I have to disagree. I honestly forgot about those songs until now, but I still don't remember what those songs sound like.
Well Post-Mortem is the slowest song on the album and lead in to Raining Blood, it’s a live staple and I highly recommend you give it a relisten it has a chilling atmosphere and stands on its own fine. Piece By Piece imo is the song I hear the most Death Metal in and notable for having the goriest lyrics on the album. Epidemic has batshit insane lyrics and I ❤️ it XD
But the best thing about it is its production, compare it to other extreme thrash albums of the same time eg. Kreator, Dark Angel, Sodom, Holy Moses etc. it’s a revelation, you can finally hear everything.
@@lordtrigon1733 I've given the album multiple listens, and each time it got slightly worse and worse, but I will give it one more chance.
@@lordtrigon1733 I gave it another listen, and I still don't like it. However, it didn't get any worse. I'd say Criminally Insane is the best out of all of the filler trash, but that's not saying much. Overall, I'd say the album is a 58/100. However, I would gladly listen to this over Metallica's Load and Reload.
Everyone is entitled to there own opinion......but to say that Pantera is not one of the greats of metal is just WRONG.
Countdown to extinction, I love megadeth but I hate sweating bullets and the black album even though I do like it
if something is overrated it is worse than we thought i hate overrated and underrated term. Can we say too popular or too unpopular instead?
Bro you put pantera so well I only like Cowboys
Anthrax almost every album. I really like "Among the Living" and "State of Euphoria" but the other stuff just dont touch me. Thrash metal with Heavy Metal vocal... Sry, not my type
(And sorry if i writing bad, im from MOTHER RUSSIA!!)
overrated albums? any iron maiden and judas priest album first of all
Every Sanctuary album is underrated. RIP Warrel Dane.
I love half of Defenders of the Faith. The second half, I don't like very much.
White Pony is superb but it's not a metal album. Number of the Beast is NOT overrated!! Catch 33 IS the best Meshuggah.
100% agree that Pantera and guns n roses are absolute shit.
To clarify on Defenders of the faith, I've seen it high on peoples Judas priest rankings consistently. Even if Freewheel burning and The sentinel are awesome, the rest is a bit lacking when Screaming for vengeance came before
Dream Theater's Metropolis Part 2 Scenes from a Memory. Honestly Dream Theater in general, but that album especially.
Opeth discography, except Damnation.
You can’t evaluate “overrated” without putting an album in historical context. It’s like saying the Ford Model T is overrated because you like Teslas better.
Judas Priest might be the most overrated metal band of all time. Sure they were influential, but they’re incredibly inconsistent. Only about half of their catalog is actually good. I would say their good albums are Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin, Killing Machine, Stained Class, British Steel, Screaming For Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith, and Painkiller. They should have quit after Painkiller.
I wouldn't even go that far, everything they did in the 80's is just crap. Painkiller rips though but after that its all garbage again.
But if they quit after Painkiller we wouldn’t have gotten Firepower and that album is fucking ace. 😁
Lord Trigon No, Firepower sucks too. The production sucks, and as a result, the guitar tone is awful. Songs are mediocre as well.
*I was with you til Pantera.*
Toxicity By System of A down its not as expermential as Mezmerize, not as Fun As Take This Album and not as Raw As Their Self Titled classic yes but a top 3 Album by them hell no
Metallica’s. Master Of Puppets and Black Album. Good albums but they aren’t Ride The Lightning which is the best album they have ever done.
Piece of Mind by Iron Maiden, Number Of The Beast is over rated but it’s a genre classic for a reason cause it’s great and did a lot for bringing the genre to the mainstream. Powerslave is the best and the tour (original album tour) was a life highlight.
Megadeth Symphony For Destruction or Countdown To Extinction. Rust in Peace is no.1, a masterpiece, followed by Peace Sells and Killing is my business.
Screaming For Vengeance, might be overrated, but Painkiller is. Defenders Of The Faith is no.1, I will join you in fighting anyone who says otherwise.
Immortal Heart Of Winter, I like it but it’s not Battles In The North or Northern Chaos Gods my two faves.
Reign in Blood by Slayer..WTF ..it’s not overrated it’s a fucking classic for a reason. Slayer are the kings of thrash, some say the Motörhead of thrash, but that’s a compliment because out of the big 4 they were the only band who didn’t change their sound and unlike Metallica they can still play thrash.
Testament Formation Of Damnation , good album to come back on, but not their best . New World Order and Practice What You Preach are the best.
Sepultura Roots.. don’t really have to say anything do I? Beneath The Remains and Arise, also Quadra, are the best albums.
Anything by Gorguts, Obscura is impenetrable..just can’t get into it.
Celtic Frost Into The Pandemonium..yeah it’s not bad but it’s a slip down the ladder compared to Into Mega Therion and Morbid Tales.
As for your mate Horesly, from what I have seen of his channel, he copies how you do things.. his taste is a little dubious at times.. and yes your channel owns his annoying ass😉
Best Judas Priest-Rsm It Down
Guns and Roses, British Steel, The Wall, Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt.1, Volume 3 the Subliminal Verses, SOAD, RATM and of course Ghost, who are just trash.
Iron maiden is also older too if you're not to have something o it is the same as well say that is the best way for me to be able she can be better than that but I don't want her I had a problem in my head when she was bitchy about it but she was so happy she is also the same as her and she has been in a lot worse and 5AM lately has to go out of the latin American water department
No-one can know that many albums
So Pantera is overrated (sure I can admit they are a little bit) but Metallica and Tool aren't?! I would say Metallica and Tool both have FAR more annoying fan bases too especially Tools.
WE ARE! DEFENDERS of the FAITH!
Master Of puppets is alittle Overated For me, The Bass Tones is much worse than Ride, Damage Inc is one of my least favorite Metallica toons, Orinion is a Weaker Call of Ktulu and Leper Messiah is a Worse Trapped under ice dont got me wrong i have theere top 3 becaues of Dispoable Heros and Welcome Home (Santrium) but it being seen as the Best Metallica is some thing i strong disagree with and , Justice has theeir best writing, vocals, fills, riffs and Solos its Metallica's Peak in my opinion
Overrated:
Slayer - God Hates Us All
In Flames - Reoroute to Remain
Children of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet?
Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
Dream Theater - Train of Thought
Gojira - Magma
Meshuggah - Nothing
Opeth - Damnation
Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
Swallow the Sun - New Moon
Trivium - Shogun
Testament - Practice What You Preach
Sabaton - The Art of War
What do you think is the most overrated album of all time?
Altars of Madness!
Relistened to Deftones White Pony last night. Like Maynard's song. Deftones get better and better...Ohms? Give WP a respin every now and then cuz Deftones but nothing really tugs at me. Btw, Number of the Beast flashed in my mind upon reflection as well.
I really like all around the fur which is weird because white pony doesn’t do anything for me but I’ll keep trying though
Metallica in general overrated. Same as GnR and Pantera. Countdown to extinction is overrated. Think TNotB is slightly overrated.
Rust In Peace and Pleasure to Kill destroy all the crap you mentioned.
On Pantera - ‘singing not that good’. Ok done. Bye then.
Appetite rules and I don't even like rock. Every song on that album is great. Everything else by Guns sucks tho.
All tool albums
*Cries into my alphabetti spaghetti*
@@Questformetal Sorry man. Just my opinion.
Your out your mind mate lol no way.
@@justinrisen1929 yes it's a total garbage band imo
@@StormKillzone it’s cringe to hate Tool in 2023
Lamb of God is groove metal. Maybe you don't like Pantera, but you definitely like groove metal, even if you won't call bands you enjoy groove.
Personally I think sabotage sucks by Black Sabbath I much perfer the debut
Pantera Vulgar display of power. Driven is better
Iron maiden number of the beast
Machine head the blackening
Slayer reign in blood. SOH and SITA are better
Megadeth RIP
Type of negative bloody kisses
I find Judas Priest's Defenders of the Faith pretty overrated. The first half sounds like Screaming For Vengeance (that's the good part) and the second half sounds like the prequel to Turbo.
my most overrated 5 albums ever
still life
the jester race
The Call of the Wretched Sea
Écailles de Lune
images and words
Am I the only one to think that Altars of Madness is completely overrated? Some websites rank it as the 1st /2nd best death album of all time. To me it's a genre defining album but each song taken individually is not incredible except for Immortal Rites. I like the ambiance but I find it overall messy, sometimes boring...
As a MA fan, I also think it's slightly overrated. And at the same time Domination is their most underrated album.
"Roots" by Sepultura anyone? Big time turd 🤣
Painkiller is the most overrated metal album of all time. It's a crime chose that album before Sad Wings of Destiny, Stained Class, Screaming for Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith even British Steel among Priest greatest albums. Even FIREPOWER is better!
everything by kiss
