I'm pretty sure that the main character isn't just forgetful as most comments are saying, I think that the main character has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and the main character is Phillip's Alter-Ego. It would explain everything perfectly! Phillip knew what chores you'd have to do because he was the MC (and the MC or a possible third alter-ego trashed the apartment), day 3 could possibly be a day where the alter-ego you play as didn't "assume control" therefore this day "didn't happen", the MC forgot his mom's birthday because he didn't even knew Phillip's mom was HIS mom, didn't pay rent because as far as you're aware you're not Phillip... Even the medication which you have to take (which "knocks you out") is, as other comments pointed, used as a treatment for a variety of mental "conditions", I am not by any means an expert and this is an hypothesis based on my limited knowledge on the subject, anyone who's more educated on said subject, feel free to drop a comment :)
Agreed! This is what I felt too. And I think it was a pretty good thriller/suspense type of short game that dabbled into the psychosis of things (if that's even a way to say about these kind of things, sorry), but I rather enjoyed this little project.
@@wtfiswiththosehandles DID can cause memory gaps which can be confounded by dementia by the main character (because interestingly people with DID forget EVERYTHING their alter egos did and vice versa), DID just explains everything way better in my opinion
@@pvssylipsfat06 Having gaps in your memory is different from dementia. I think its just dementia has dementia would explain everything as well. Forgetting his mother, forgetting what chores needed to be done which are both things that happens to people with dementia. And it’d explain all of the notes he we leaving himself. Some people with dementia will remember something, for example a fond memory, and write it done so they can look back on it and remember. Kinda like having a makeshift brain in the form of notes with memories, tasks, even some people with dementia will write in a journal everyone in their family and friends so they can remember as some people with dementia will forget a close family member and try to attack them, thinking they are trying to hurt them.
As someone with a suite of mental illnesses, it's really easy for me to forget common housekeeping stuff like taking out the garbage, remembering when bills are due, doing the dishes, etc. Sometimes I even manage to ignore a rumbling stomach and forget to eat for a while. Thankfully I have roommates who help keep me on schedule, but the idea of living on my own with only erratic ol' me in charge is still really daunting. Notice how Philip's mother mentions this all started when he began living on his own. I also know how easy it is for an entire day to just vanish while I'm weighed down with depressive inertia or hyperfixating on something. Other comments are mentioning Dissociative Identity Disorder, which is probably what the developer wanted to build the game around, but there's something telling in how people with other mental illnesses can relate to this as well.
Tebonin is an extract of Gingko biloba. It's used for mental health issues, forgetfulness, dizziness, emotional instability with anxiety, etc. Evidently, you forget to pay the rent. As you noted, you are the resident of the apartment. The chore notes are reminders to yourself. The writings on the walls might be hallucinations. But why would you leave after the chores are done? Although we never see him enter or leave the apartment.
Where did you find that info on Tebonin? I still need to read up on that Gingko Biloba, but most sites about Tebonin are about it relieving tinatus, dizziness and improoving mental alertness... Guess the last part is about forgetfulness
That was an interesting one. Pretty decent despite being on the shorter end. Tebonin is supposed to help with various mental issues, ranging from awareness and memory issues to stuff like tinnitus and dizziness.
Dissociative personality disorder was what I thought would be the theme of the game from the beginning, for me Philipp was one of the personalities that tried to communicate. For those of you who don't know, some personalities that have this disorder at the beginning or throughout the process cannot remember or communicate with the other personality, but some of the personalities may remember each other. It's probably not exactly what the game portrays, but it could be.
Hello and welcome to another indie horror game TWICE ON THIS VERY SAME DAY. 🥳🥳🥳🥳. P.D: this is why we dont make friends favours. We get haunted by monsters and ghosts
Honestly I'd like for one of these games to have some kind of twist that the person you're housesitting for is dead and you're trying to avoid suspicion by making it seem like they're still in their house, like the chores go from normal to dubious like mailing weird shit to own house or mopping up blood in an area you weren't allowed in earlier
The game reminded me of Mother a lot, with which it shares a fair amount of elements. The phone calls, the days counter, the medicine abuse, the task board. A nice small project. I wonder what they can make with more resources.
If a friend asked me to look after their house for a week and they posted notes all over the place and asked me to do the dishes, I'd leave and demote them to "acquaintance."
Hey bro we go pretty far back, don't ya think?! Remember when we first met? Four Seconds ago when I started typing this? Well anyway the thing is I kinda need you to watch my house for a couple of weeks. The pay is $500 per night! I do have one rule however, please do not disturb the mannequins around the house. Oh and for your own safety do not leave your room after dark. No matter what happens.....
Philip reminds me a little of the paranoid kid from the Japanese nightime delivery game you played a while back. He's the one that made you take the package to the odd priest before accepting delivery. The smiling priest took all his money and the kid said he'd have to ask his parents for more.
I really liked this, it's short, the twist was a little predictable and could've used some work, but the timing is all very well executed. The few jump scares are placed really well, and the subtle unsettling feeling that this game brings by having things move between the days is really cool. Day 3 being cut is extremely impactful. This was just a really neat little game, I hope the devs do more stuff because this was very promising for a larger project.
So, every time you play caretaker, you're lapsing into forgetfulness and the "magical" notes were made by your sane hands to remind yourself of your day-to-day activities. It came to a point where you're also forgetting to drink your pills, that on certain days, you blank out completely and were doing things off-kilter. Using your phone's facial recognition was your last resort into regaining your own identity once again, and the cycle repeats. Interesting game, seeing how they've utilized a simple environment with mundane tasks, but was laid out through the perspective of a character with mental issues. If it had been otherwise, I'd be confounded as to why this dude's still house-sitting after Day 2, especially after seeing additional litter and all those fresh notes popping up.

All in all, I think this could've used some more work but it was fine for what it was. I wish the twist wasn't as predictable though, maybe the dev could've played up it being a haunting or break in to better subvert the 'twist'. The scares were pretty alright but I found myself wanting more in way, perhaps the game was a bit too short. The fact that they have Tebonin clears up some things, but weird that they would completely forget that this is their own apartment and themselves--that goes way beyond just mild forgetfulness. Even weirder that they leave once the chores are done (or do they?). Also did the mom not know about these issues? She just let him move out when his mental issue is this severe? I don't know why someone who almost seems to have dementia this young would be allowed to be on their own--they'd at least need someone to come checkup on them.
A lot of mental illnesses are left undiagnosed, and even with a diagnosis it's not like she could afford to have him committed for very long. As for having someone checking in on him, if he does have Disassociative Identity Disorder they're going to have to be knowledgeable about the intricacies of the disorder and of Phillip's identities. That's a hell of a lot of education and training to ask of a friend or neighbor, and getting a professional with that training is going to cost money. Bottom line, there's so few support systems set up for people with mental illnesses that most have to go out there and wing it on their own. As this game demonstrates, that doesn't always work out.
@@Martyhero My original question still stands though, why was he allowed to move out on his own then (if they knew)? And he's not just 'winging it', the message from his mom implies that he was living with her before choosing to move out. Seems like he is able to function with medication so I don't think he would need to be committed--problem is just remembering to take it. If his mom/family do know about his mental issues, they could check up on him (if they lived close enough) or at least get him an on-call caretaker to check (like some people do for dementia) and you can find inexpensive ones if you know where to look. I'm sure he would be getting some kind of disability money that could be put to that (though sometimes it isn't much). It's not impossible for someone like them to get help or have close friends (or neighbors) that know and are willing to stick around because they care about him. Not every situation is a hopeless one, and in this case Phillip wasn't left completely on his own as he still had family that cared and seems like his mom would've helped him.
Ok THIS IS HOW YOU DO HORROR! I'm so tired of the same blood and guts horror game/movie to release over and over, and they are never scary. This right here is how you do horror. That feeling of uneasiness. That dread that something bad is going to happen. I know horror is subjective, but I think one thing we can all agree on is "Horror is like having sex, You don't want to 'blow your load' to early leaving everybody disappointed. ...... Or in my case 30 seconds of sex, 15 minutes of girl laughing at me 1 hour of crying...... LOL

This game was aerie even tho it’s a horror game cliche
Silly, pointless and short. Thumbed up.
This game to me is a little confusing
bueno
Chris have you considered streaming your games in a kiddie pool on twitch wearing only a speedo?
I hear it’s quite lucrative
Ok THIS IS HOW YOU DO HORROR! I'm so tired of the same blood and guts horror game/movie to release over and over, and they are never scary. This right here is how you do horror. That feeling of uneasiness. That dread that something bad is going to happen. I know horror is subjective, but I think one thing we can all agree on is
"Horror is like having sex, You don't want to 'blow your load' to early leaving everybody disappointed. ...... Or in my case
30 seconds of sex,
15 minutes of girl laughing at me
1 hour of crying......
LOL
TMI dude, TMI, what??? Man, go get some sleep.
I did not like the ending. Otherwise, the game was... par.
Meh .. this kinda sucked .. it’s like a Disney horror game
wha?
