The legendary Stan Bowles in action from QPR's 1975-76 season which saw them finish as runners-up to Liverpool. Near the end of the video Emlyn Hughes is also seen talking about the money situation when Don Revie took over as England manager. At the end are Bowles comments regarding Hughes and Revie. There are two further videos at the link (above) on the web site plus an interview recorded for Radio Nottingham in 2004 when Bowles talked about his year at Forest and his relationship with Clough, Taylor and his Forest team mates.
Love you Stan ! As a Q.P.R. fan who moved to Essex and had to hold my own with all those west ham, back in the day,you allowed me to walk with my held high. From a time when football was magical ,and not money bullshit ,you were a giant. All true football fans know this.May God protect you and help you fight this ilness and remenber that you will always be loved by the R,s fans and all true football fans from the Q block to the Loft.Rangers till I die ! Mal the postman.
Feel privileged to have watched Stan, and the other great players of that era, football died a little when these great players hung up their boots
These group of guys must have been the most entertaining I've ever seen.
I really enjoyed watching QPR that season, and I say that as a Chelsea fan !!!
RIP the great Dave Clement and Micky Leach
I'm 15 but these were the best days of football
The passage of play from 0.30 is fantastic. One touch football, accurate passing, Bowles to Francis to Givens and back to Francis who passes it into the net.......
I saw Stan Bowles playing for Crewe against Oldham Athletic in the old Div 4, in February 1971.
Big up @MaverickSupporter and the rest of the QPR fans for giving such a top Benefit match yesterday for Stan, one Of Manchesters best.
One of the greatest English football teams of all time. Superb, exciting skillful football - it's still hard to accept that the Championship was not won after the agonising 10 days wait at the end of the season. Thanks for uploading.
Bowles, Worthington, Marsh, Best - absolute entertainers that tried to entertain.
The best player rangers ever had. love ya stan!
I've been following football since 1968 and I have to say my biggest disappointment in all those years was QPR not winning the title in 1976. I was a season ticket holder that season and QPR were on top of the table with all their games played. It all came down to the Wolves v Liverpool game ; Wolves needed to win to stay up and if the Reds won, the title was theirs. Wolves took the lead with 15 minutes to go - I was in Heaven ! Then what happened ? Liverpool go and score three ! QPR were so close - that's the agony and the ecstasy of football ! Stan was the main man indeed !
Dave Thomas from my home village played for QPR at this time
The super England squad that never was; Brian Clough coaching Bowles, Charlie George, Alan Hudson - help me out and name some more of the 'overlooked'
I loved the old away kit
Arrogant Hughes- how did he know QPR would falter? Derby, Notts Forest in the 70s and lots of teams have had to win the title for the first time.
Took me a while to figure out who the voice over was !
Minder!!
I love the song Stan Bowls by The Others
Hi, I was wondering where you got this footage from? As I am looking to make a university project on the man himself and need to find some footage to use
